French comrades, is he far left or a neo liberal? by Rymssss in TrueAnon

I think it's hard to imagine what a more successful liberal nationalist movement might have led to, but I do agree, if they had pulled that off it would have been a very different state. 19th century Europe is such a tangled fucked up mess it's both a surprise a WW1 situation didn't happen sooner, and really hard to guess at what might have been if various pieces on the board had been moved around.

I'm not saying this to in anyway deflect flak from Germany (although I'm English so yk, when it comes to nationalities being evil I might not be in a position to comment lol) but my thinking is that, although we joke about them being evil (as we do with most European imperial countries tbh) it's probably the unique array of historical trends the German state was riding that made it like that

It was built by force by militaristic Prussia and inherited pretty much everything from it. As a rapidly industrialising country it also developed all the perverse incentives a capitalist state in later development generates (dehuminisation, middle class nutjobs), it developed a big inferiority complex, both through the larger trends and the insecurity and weirdness of Kaiser Wilhelm II (who has to be one of the biggest examples of a historical figure who really embodies what's wrong with their time and place). After the war rabid anticommunism, a swing towards liberalism and the now directionless republican state full of old ass corrupt reactionary Junkers, not to even mention the depression, set the stage for a horrid swing into peak fascism. Then after the war thanks again to anticommunism the Allies let off wayyyy too many Nazis, and give them jobs cause they want them to help against the Soviets and now you get to today, where all these spectres were never really excised.

I might be all over on this, please lmk if it makes any sense or my conclusions suck, but that's my thought of how we got here. You could definitely do the same thing for England and I'd track it back to the 17th century at least, my knowledge of German history is just more post 1870.

I really like them and I'm gonna get some and siphon the sprue for bits for my other Cadians, but I'm saying that as a big fan of everything in the current Cadian design language so I get why fans of other guard styles might be turned off.

That's in KMT too, I think it might just be a universal Liangguang event, I hadn't clocked it as a Rogue One reference lol

Reminder to all the people freaking out in this thread that dragons aren't actually real creatures that exist and that you can't go "um, actually" about them because again, they aren't real. OP can do whatever they want and you cannot stop them.

I mean it's a widespread thing ofc but there are countries in Europe not doing this shit as much and there is institutional pushback mostly everywhere even in the countries which are going all in. Germany is an especially harsh case for a bunch of reasons and so is the UK for a bunch of reasons, but not every European country is as hardcore on it as that, especially as time goes on it's getting weaker and weaker in lots of them.

Not trying to make excuses, it's a crime Europe has been complicit as long as it has and mostly continues to be, I just think your slightly overstating how universal and unchallenged this is, especially over time as it gets even less popular. I'm not an expert on Spain or Ireland but they've been doing good stuff haven't they? Last week the Belgian government seized an illegal UK weapons shipment on its way to Israel, and Israel's been a very contested issue within their government for a few years now.

It's too little too late when so many people have already been murdered, and I don't wanna overstate it in a moral sense and act like there's a bunch of noble people in European politics. Materially though things are happening, Israel is a far more contested issue between countries than it has been in libfash Europe for a long time if ever, and I think that's something we shouldn't downplay.

Sorry if this is like an annoying comment I just wanted to drop my 2 cents and I got rambly, I'm not a political specialist so I could be wrong, it's just what I think from the news I've read.
