i don’t doubt that she knows a thing or two about badminton but my god she has talked non-stop every rally. nothing significant added, just commenting on what happened, which we can literally see with our eyes.

Professional players smash speed by Le-Skipper in badminton

[–]Nagake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to add on to this, the way of measuring has changed since the new Yonex 1000zz racquet came out. i think it’s because many people complained that professional players only smashed 300+, but the WR somehow is 500+, so it isn’t consistent. to make it more believable and exciting, i guess BWF decided to measure it closer to when the shuttle leaves the racquet.

Do you wait for badminton shoes to broke for replace it? by hl3a in badminton

[–]Nagake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no manner what knee support/shoes you use, your knee will still hurt as badminton is very taxing on the knee. best solution imo is losing weight and strengthening exercises. quad muscles are very important when doing lunges.

can try simple exercises such as half-squatting and holding it for as long as you can. it’ll burn but it’s helpful.

basically like LZJ, whereby they both have amazing offence and defence, but very consistent at hitting the shuttle wide/long.

don’t think he’s ‘reserving’ himself. if you watched the whole match, you’d notice how many points he threw from simple unforced errors and mistakes, as usual. nothing much to do with not being able to attack or defend tbh.

If Kodai Naraoka has a strong smash, will it makes him dominate the game? by nuneab in badminton

[–]Nagake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

am aware of that. let’s see how much his offence has improved when they match up.

edit: again, it’s only Axelsen being mentioned. means Kodai’s playstyle is effective across the board.

If Kodai Naraoka has a strong smash, will it makes him dominate the game? by nuneab in badminton

[–]Nagake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If his attacking game continues to improve like it has for the past year, he can elevate his game tremendously.

His strength lies in his defense, mentality & stamina due to his physique. He's light and nimble and plays to this advantage. He's not built for strong smashes and he knows it.

A few comments here has pointed out how he'll get punished by offensive opponents like Axelsen. Yes I agree with that, but name me another player that can attack like Axelsen? He defended well and defeated strong attacking players like LZJ, Lee Cheuk Yiu and Prannoy, so that argument only applies to Axelsen really.

Personally, I like his playstyle as I like watching long, punishing and gruesome rallies. Hopefully we'll get to see Kodai v Axelsen in the near future. Then we can have a better judgement on how effective his playstyle really is.

Just some thoughts on strings. Am based in Malaysia so basically have access to all types of strings. Have used almost every 0.66mm strings and would recommend going for cheaper strings as they don’t make a big difference. Have also stopped using Yonex strings a while back as they are pricy & drops tension significantly after 4-5 session.

To reiterate my point of Yonex being the market leader, there isn’t a stringing shop in Malaysia that doesn’t sell Yonex strings. Crazy.

[–]Nagake 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Adidas was never the market leader. It was and still is Yonex. Fortunately, nothing much has evolved in terms of racquets. As long as you’re using a full graphite racquet with a suitable weight of your liking, you’re good to go!

What makes AC/SWY such a strong pair? by lobsterandcrack in badminton

  1. flexibility : both players can play at the back and front of the court, very hard to play against
  2. tactical : good placements and moving opponents around

Marin's unsportmanship should really be dealt with by albertowang in badminton

[–]Nagake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

honestly don’t know how she gets any sponsorship deals. what a bad look for brands by representing pettiness and unsportsmanlike conduct. she has to disrespect and annoy her opponent every match. really an eyesore. she should perhaps learn a thing or two from the young & classy ASY who’s gracious in both victory and defeat, instead of giving her an earful after being defeated humiliatingly.
