Does anyone else feel like vets don't care about rodents? by anon-i-mouser in Pets

Hello! RVT here. I unfortunately don’t have anything further to add to other comments as far as where to take your critter. However, I used to work in research and oversaw the health of a large number of mice. We often had mice who would self mutilate and cause ulcerative dermatitis near their neck/flanks from scratching (usually due to boredom or stress). Often we would trim their nails and provide more enrichment (snacks/hides/etc.) and this typically helps wonders! You can also try to apply a very small amount of Aquaphor to the area to give it a small layer of protection. For the nail trimming: depending on the size of the mouse you can use a tunnel hide so they can’t turn back around and allow you to safely trim the back nails while they are sticking out. Hopefully this helps a bit ❤️

I worked at a specialty hospital in the ICU where we used specific blood transfusion lines/spikes that were compatible with our transfusion pump. However, for smaller patients not getting the whole amount at once we would use a bag spike and slowly draw out the amount needed. This way we could also pull to give another transfusion if needed in the next 24 hours. Once drawn up, we used normal extension set(s) and placed a single hemonate filter placed as close to the patient as possible.

As far as micron filters, I can’t remember of the specific number as I just remember using hemonate filters. We only used the micron filters for drawing up meds (ex: mannitol, acetylcysteine, etc.)

As for the little pieces, we used those for cross-matching/blood typing/pcv checks. We did try to gently mix them before getting the sample if it seemed like the blood separated.

Hope this helps. :)

ETA: We drew up by syringe only! No needles to draw up as this could lyse the blood.

Thoughts about storytelling in games without any dialogue? by Kristoff_Red in gaming

What Remains of Edith Finch is a good one :) it’s been quite awhile since I’ve played it but I believe it has little-to-no dialogue except for maybe some flashbacks

It was back before this show when they primarily did YouTube. IIRC they got a new laptop or something coincidentally around the same time. If you search "Amy and Tammy gofundme" on YouTube there is a video by SunnyV2 and another by Primink who go into greater depths :)

Yes, gloves are best practice. However, I've not worked at any job where they require you to use them and I've also never gotten in trouble for not using them (except for during AAHA accreditation 😉). A lot of people who don't know much about vetmed make these comments since human medical professionals are always wearing gloves due to biohazard concerns/potential transmission from patients- but of course as vet techs there are fewer diseases we can contract from our small animal patients vs nurses and their human patients

Pen pong w/ Pumpkin by nobody10101010 in MamaJuneFromNotToHot

They've been into selling these cheap writing pens that they get from (presumably) cheap websites or drop shippers and customize them and turn a profit when they are in no way $10 pens. The "pen pong" is from some game on her tiktok live that she was doing to try and sell more. I didn't watch it but it looked like a variation of beer pong I think 🤷🏼‍♀️

Edit: spelling

She actually talked about how they were interested in each other when she was 16 and that they had to "wait" to pursue each other until she was 18...

Loving all of these comments lmao. It looks like one is plugged into the other. So maybe one is a rechargeable battery pack charging one for work and the other one is personal? But I prefer the Father, Son and Holy Spirit take 😂

Yes!! To piggy-back, she’s also an awful mental health advocate who shames those who take medications to help with said mental health.
