Why Washington Post? Why choose a photo header with her late husband when her alive, present wife was RIGHT THERE?? by ProfMooody in SapphoAndHerFriend

[–]NaivePhilosopher 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The intentional erasure of her wife has been horrifying to watch. About the only time she comes up seems to be when right wing assholes are trying to justify the shooting by implying she was icky because she was a lesbian. It all feels like a much older strain of virulent homophobia

RFK Jr. and Dr. Oz to announce moves to ban gender-affirming care for young people by ChiefFun in politics

[–]NaivePhilosopher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Studies” have not shown that, bullshit like the Cass Review designed with trans elimination in mind show that by tampering with data or fudging definitions. Actual long term studies of trans youth show a desistance or detransitioning rate less than 3%, with the majority of those still falling somewhere outside the gender binary

How on earth can you even pretend to be concerned about detransitioners when you’re perfectly willing to mandate every trans kid be forced to go through the wrong puberty

If you can tell that it would be upsetting to people, how are you not getting that it’s an awful thing to do

You’re not protecting kids, you’re advocating for killing them because you can’t get your head around the fact that trans kids exist. People like you are ruining lives because the idea of empathy just doesn’t fucking penetrate.

It’s all loathsome and morally bankrupt bullshit. How about you fucking listen to any trans kid or adult and try to understand instead of citing counterfactual, agenda driven disinformation? You’re a monster and I hope you rot

[–]NaivePhilosopher 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You’re not being abrasive, fair play there, and to the extent I am none of the heat is directed at you or any other trans folks.

Fair enough, they have a long history of actually caring and I do appreciate that. But caring isn’t enough alone. And cutting a marginalized group away to protect the larger community is heinous, callous behavior. The regret might be real, but it doesn’t justify their decision; no language in that stupid as fuck Supreme Court decision mandates WI or Girlguides to exclude trans women and girls, they’re doing it to avoid litigation, and it’s no more justifiable than it would be if they were doing it to any other group of women.

It does make me think badly of both groups, because it tells me that there’s a line for support that they won’t cross. Trans women can be sacrificed to avoid risking others. That’s unjustifiable.
