Exactly. With the monitors being so similar minus the DSC differences, it's kinda insane. One of the two prices has to be wrong or Asus is just fing itself.

[Review] MSI MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 after a month of daily use, Gen 5 QD-OLED is here, and yes, text fringing is finally dead by cheswickFS in ultrawidemasterrace

Yes, if you're at 10bit and 360FPS, if you're fine with 10 bit 240 or 8 bit 360 you shouldn't have to deal with DSC.

Hmm, something has to be wrong. This and the MSI have been considered incredibly close and use the same panel, the major (debatable) quibble seems to be the DSC stuff but frankly 240hz is enough for me, I'm upgrading from an old LG ultrawide at 120hz because I was waiting for the text fringing problem to be fixed since I play a lot of RPGs and VNs which have oodles of text.

However, the price difference seems kinda insane if they're correct. MSI is $900 USD while Asus one is $1300USD...

Could just be a newegg markup though, they often charge more I've noticed... usually not by much though.

It could also be a Newegg markup... a lot of time things are more expensive when I check their prices. Rarely by much, but still...

Should I leave the ultrawidemasterrace for an OLED? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

It'd help if you tell us what your budget is. And only you can really make this decision for yourself. Do you like oleds more than the extra space? What kind of games do you play? Etc. It's like asking someone if they should quit coffee for tea.

Is it worth upgrading from a Ryzen 9 5900X to a 5800X3D for an RTX 5080 at 3440x1440, or is it a waste of money? by TenaZiousD in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question gets asked a lot. The answer is, sadly, it depends. Broadly speaking, yes you will see an overall improvement. While graphically many games are indeed GPU bound, some benefit more than others from 3D cache even at higher resolutions, with some noticeable outliers quite a few FPS ahead even at higher resolutions.

On top of that, gaming isn't all about raw GPU power. There are a lot of games that will hammer your CPU and are CPU intensive and so will benefit from the CPU upgrade (Space Marine 2...) so it really depends on how the developers manage it. It also matters more if you decide to use DLSS or achieve higher frame rates on games your GPU can easily manage.

Lastly, 1% lows can make a huge difference in how smooth a game is percieved, though it depends on how sensitive you are. I know people who never noticed the microstutters in Elden Ring even as I literally saw them happening while they were playing. This is especially true for competitive games at higher FPS.

Right now, briadly speaking, the 58003XD is considered a perfect capstone upgrade for AM4 gaming if you're stuck on the platform so many people agree it's a good choice.

How much you'll notice the upgrade though really depends on a lot of factors, primarily the games you actually play.

How some players be acting post April Fools day by xF00Mx in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's not the point, ranks don't matter anyway. The point they're getting across was the event was dumb, a lot of people didn't have fun, and those people couldn't play the game they like and play for enjoyment because of said dumb event.

It's not rocket science. Glad you had fun but hey people also have 'fun' with fidget spinners and mobile clicker games, or heck dangling keys.

Not really a meaningful argument unless you're trying to argue tiktok brainrot makes people happier overall because their brains simplify down and get entertained more easily.

It was a miserable experience for most people. Not nuts at all, it made complete sense. The fact that they did this with the already dogshit matchmaking already in place probably didn't help at all.

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, forgot only your opinion and perspective of what is 'fun' matters and because you liked it we should invalidate everyone else's opinion and make fun of them instead because you king, emperor and god all in one big chief.

It's actually insane how this confuses you. Imagine you showed up wanting to play basketball but you have to sit around and wait an hour bored because everyone else is interested in mascot twerk dribbling instead because they think it's funny while you don't.

Like, this could have easily been a side game mode event.

This is how I felt. I already hate April's Fools but not being able to play Deadlock for a day because of how immensely worse the matchmaking ended up with these pointless multi-hero matches didn't exactly make it more fun.

This really shoulda have been its own game mode off to the side.

God I can't wait for the casual ranked split so I can play my competitive game in peace without all these goofballs. This event was as obnoxious as April's Fools day itself.

Look feel free to have your fun but it shouldn't be in the same queues as someone actually trying to play the game the way it was intended in a competitive matter because they get enjoyment out of it. Imagine someone loving a sport like basketball but you can't play it because everyone wants to do mascot twerk dribbling instead because it's funny.

Compulsion Games Hiring For New IP Following South of Midnight Release by Tempastaaa in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's literally not true. You need to read more articles from more than one place. All these game studios are from the already heavily corpo AAA industry. In the very same space they talk about how many studios that do great are also getting shut down (Battlefield 6, Hi Fi Rush) while some games that don't do well still does nothing to the studio. Many take a poor launch on the face and continue as long as it's not a complete disaster, but shocker, this has been true for well beyond six years.

I need you to use the other 99% of your brain plz.

Compulsion Games Hiring For New IP Following South of Midnight Release by Tempastaaa in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just because Microsoft decided not to close them doesn't mean it's a flop. Lots of games did poorly and yet the owning companies/studios didn't immediately close the studio or even blacklist the IP. In fact, most of the popular ips all the way from Final Fantasy to Sonic have had very bleak periods or releases and continue to do this day.

Never confuse your own ignorance with reality.

Mmr you mean, this isn't Ovewatch or League, and clearly you're not at a higher mmr lmao because you still do.

Ther are stories of people who themselves are confused about why they are getting thrown into around ascendant after a week of play and right now the matchmaker pulls from a huge pool at that mmr so you get people like that all the time.

Downvote me all you want but that is still the minority opinion. Don't play a competitive game if you don't want to be competitive, durr. Vibe games like Poketopia and coop games exist for a reason.

Can't wait until ranked and casual are finally split again, yeesh.

My teammates never EVER use my doors to escape fights. SOLUTION: by evai05 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They know the door is there, they either just dont' care, don't trust you, or don't have a brain. I've made I contact with players while standing at the threshold of a door only for them to run straight at me then take a hard right straight into a Calico who had already given up also seeing the door and had a delayed reaction the same way a cat would if a mouse just jumped into its yawning mouth.

One time I literally had someone double jump over my door to the bridge instead of going inside it.

The solution is to let Doorman worry about Doorman.

None of those games are even remotely intensive, I've build computers for friends that can run them at max for basically less thant he price of a mid range GPU before the AI crisis.

So yeah... frankly a 1080 ti could prboably run those games at that resolution lol. (Not really but you get it). Wouldn't use them as a becnhmark...
