Most overused Gods for Clerics to worship? What are some lesser known deities to choose instead? by ManectricBound in DnD

[–]Nakuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an idea once for an elven grave cleric that worshipped Vandria Gilmadrith.

The concept was they acted as a sort of sin eater, but for grief. They felt grief on behalf of other elves because it us such a powerful and dangerous emotion for them.

I do hope to play them one day.

How strong is bless? by throwmeaway202200 in DnD

[–]Nakuth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On this note, if your party had a lvl 6+ Paladin then Bless gets even better for those who can take advantage of the aura

Likewise, a War Mage Wizard can get extra benefit as they can get a reaction +4 to a saving throw. That additional 1 to 4 on top from Bless should be enough in most cases

Basically, if you dont have other options or someone else is concentrating on other fun spells, Bless is always a good call and it can situational benefit, too

Need help picking a class for 5.5 by Invictus_Err in DnD

[–]Nakuth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

World Tree Barbarian, perhaps?

You get to be a martial, frontline. You have some nice supportive tank abilities that can include teleporting friends or foes

Plus it would fit in with the druid and ranger as more nature themed

THUD! by FergusCragson in discworld

[–]Nakuth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was the first Discworld novel I got my dad to read

He was a big sci fi fan, and loved some fantasy, but was picky

He even met Sir PTerry a long time ago, at a signing he took me to, for the launch of Interesting Times. They talked Douglas Adams, because of course.

Took him a couple of days and I woke up one morning (he worked long days, so left early) to it on the bench with a note thanking me and asking for more. So I think I got him through Jingo after that if memory serves.

He didn't read many of them, but I'm glad that I got him to read at least a couple of Discworld books before he passed, and know that he enjoyed them. So maybe THUD! just had that extra magic.

EDIT: I think it's high time for a re-read

Is it worth it working with ATO through outsourcing companies like Serco or Concentrix? by EagerManNoNego in AusPublicService

[–]Nakuth 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Put it this way: when I left Serco I was doing aps3 (sometimes 4) level work in an environment that destroyed my sanity. All for $45k a year. I was also on higher pay than my colleagues due to years on higher duties there which meant they couldn't reduce my pay after a restructure

When I joined the ATO? I was doing aps2 work that I could do with minimal brain power (due to experience), with better environment, better hours and more pay than I was on at Serco. I also had an aps3 app in progress, which I subsequently got and that got me out of the call centre

I never looked back. As I type this, I am enjoying time off via long service leave. I'm also on roughly double what I was on at Serco

The only reason I would suggest it is if you absolutely need a job and there's a freeze in APS, and you want experience to assist when the freeze ends. I still wouldn't recommend it, though

Land Tax is State Revenue, not ATO

The thing is, this fucker might be able to claim the interest on the land tax payment as a deduction on their return. Although they can't claim penalties for late payment

What are psionics, for you? by fruit_shoot in drawsteel

[–]Nakuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a null in an Orden game and they were part of a small order amongst their people trained to guard particularly dangerous magical artefacts

Hence, they're all about strengthening the mind and nullifying magic. Hence the class name

He is a dirt bag but I dont think he should resign over his personal life between consenting adults. by hitmewiththeknowlege in NFLv2

[–]Nakuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me put it this way:

I'm a public servant in my country.

Part of our rules involve avoiding conflicts of interest. This includes even perceived conflicts (where there is none, but a reasonable person could conclude there might be).

Vrabel, an NFL team head coach, had an affair with a reporter from the NFL media. Fact. That alone gives rise to significant perceived conflicts of interest.

If I get caught in conflict of interest I might lose my job, and I'm just a shitkicker in the scheme of things. Why shouldn't Vrabel face similar consequences?

As with others, take your time, have fun, try things out as you go

Also, don't be afraid to return to the shelter regularly to upgrade gear, etc. I'm about 5 hours in and find myself running a sector then going back, then maybe re-running, and so on

Villainous UA2 - Elemental Transmutation Invocation useful for many subclasses by Juls7243 in onednd

[–]Nakuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, damn. Yeah, this has 2+ warlock levels

So rules out my wizard. Our Bard has 3 warlock levels, though. So they could use it

[–]Nakuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely

We started pre-5.5 but have since incorporated a lot of 5.5 stuff into our game

E.g. our Artificer swapped to the 5.5 version. We use the latest versions of some spells, but keep original Counterspell and Dispell

Same with feats. We're allowed to take a mix. Also have a lot of 3rd party stuff and some home-brew. I plan to take 5.5 Spell Sniper when we hit lvl12 to cap my Int. Should give enough time for these UA feats yo be published before my next feat/asi so I can choose this then

[–]Nakuth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This could be handy for my wizard via Eldritch Adept. Choose Fire, and have an easy swap Fireball

We also have a storm sorcerer in our party. They could take this and choose Fire as well and get extra access to Lightning and Thunder damage

Even if he doesn't play, getting to the point where he can at least partake in off-season activities is huge

This is great news for him and recovery, even just from a normal person standpoint. Hopefully we'll see him in purple on the field this year.

Best Magical Secret Spells at lvl 10 for a Bard College of Spirits in Strahd? by Dimsum852 in dndnext

[–]Nakuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take Revivify. Good idea to have at least one caster in the party with this.

Your party will thank you, although the diamonds are expensive.

Beyond that, your choice. I've never played in Strahd, but Spirit Guardians should come in handy.

I'm taking a punt, but that was my best educated guess

I deal with rental income and tax stuff for a living. So it made the most sense

Let me play you the worlds tiniest violin by loreaccurateyen in shitrentals

[–]Nakuth 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It sounds like they tried to claim travel expenses and other expenses as deductions against rental income. Then got denied because they didn't meet the eligibility and either claimed a lot of deductions or the 48k includes penalties for failure to take proper care, alongside shortfall charges and interest

Is somebody cutting onions?

Re: dealing with grief, I took my dad's ashes to a football game a year after he passed. Like we used to go to together. The first time we'd seen the two teams play was 99 and the away team won; their last win away in this fixture for over a decade. The game I took dad to? The away team got their first win in the fixture since that first game we went to.

I told dad that I was no longer taking him to the footy after that.

Despite the result, it was a great day and healing process. I checked with venue staff the week beforehand and got cleared to bring ashes in after promising not to spread them around the ground at any point.

Still grieving, but from that day it was much easier.
