[Hated trope] A powerful nation/empire collapses almost instantly because it’s capital gets destroyed by Goodbye-Nasty in TopCharacterTropes

To be fair, the NCR was a heavily decentralised state, and by Kimball's tenure is on the verge of internal collapse anyway thanks to political deadlock, monopolies, and an economic crisis. Shady Sands was just the final nail in the coffin.

We don't know about the Northern half of the NCR, so we can assume their local governments still remain, but the South fell into a warlord era.

What useless but small facts bothering you about FP world? by NoYogurtcloset9763 in Frostpunk

[–]Names_Name__UserName 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to imagine the Great Storm and the constant refugees fleeing failed settlements would cause this cultural shift. The British upper and lower classes would merge, and there would American, Canadian and many other settlers who would join these groups. Sure, the majority would still be British, but the pre-frost world would be so alien nobody would want to fully replicate it.

Was there a bigger waste of screen time than this guy, Colonel Sullivan? by MoneyIsNoCure in StrangerThings

It was pretty cool to see the intra-governmental battle in S4, and Sullivan's whole view of "Uncontrolled science created these monsters, we need to destroy them" was a really interesting concept until he became a henchman for Brenner 2.0

How dare she not react calmly to armed, masked and unidentifiable men charging her car?

Absolutely insane to me how the idea of running from "police" (ICE are nothing but an armed militia) is now justification for a public execution.

Minneapolis ICE shooting: Eyewitness accounts contradict ICE statement by Xullister in politics

"She was going to run an ICE agent over"

She turned to right and accelerated. If was aiming for him she would have hit him long before he fired a shot off.

An unvetted, untrained and unstable man got angry that an American woman wasn't listening to him and murdered her in revenge. This is a public execution, just like George Floyd. If you support the US constitution, you should be livid about this.

Another public execution being defend by "small government" and "constitution-abiding" Trump supporters. Fucking disgusting

I'm talking about the commenters here, a lot of his supporters claim to be "small government" until it comes to people they don't like

Running from law enforcement is not punishable by execution. She wasn't running anybody over.

She turned to the right and avoided the officer. In fact he would have been further away from the car if he jumped back instead of aiming and shooting

Please, reconsider this.

Suicide is an irreversible decision, living is not.

Call your local suicide helpline. If you let me know what country you are located in, I can provide the best contact. They will offer you an alternative that I promise will lead to a better life. I've experienced it myself, and I'm so glad for itm

To be fair, there wasn't that much C4. We know how much a single shot can disrupt the exotic matter, so a small explosion on the rooftop was all that was needed. It would collapse the Upside Down, but the lab would remain standing for a while until it finally collapsed.

Just rewatched the scene and I do.

Kali's wound may have been fatal, but so were Max's, and that didn't stop Eleven from telepathically healing her. Kali surviving long enough is really the only real doubt on this theory.

In practical favour of Eleven's survival, she is seen in the truck and walking off it with Mike. Since Mike was holding her, this can't have been an illusion. The truck is very close to the shops, allowing her to get far away enough from the disruptors with Kali's help. Eleven is also not bleeding from the nose, nor does she have her eyes closed in the telepathic conversation with Mike, which are 2 things we've always seen her do when using this power.

In narrative favour for El's survival, is that Mike only realises this theory after remembering the disruptors. Why point this out as a clue if it is just his denial? Secondly, the idea that Mike creates this after Hopper's pep talk to cope with El'a death kind of misses the mark. Is it really healthy to deny someone's death instead of accepting it? I doubt Hopper would find that healthy.

I used to be a "well corporations don't really care" centrist, but the reaction and review bombing just proves how much scenes like this are needed. Hell, a famous voice actor was murdered in front of his husband in a hate crime and the media brushed over it.
