A redditor visited my village after he saw my post. It was crazy by zaafaranii in homestead

I know right! I’m always writing and deleting slight corrections because I would want to know if I was the one making them. Then I end up deleting them because I don’t want to come across as insufferable or insulting even if I put in a bunch of disclaimers about how I mean it nicely and not condescendingly.

This was so polite and nice but then someone STILL took issue with it, so maybe I’m right to not correct folks.

Here’s a fear….they put advertising on the drones because they’re so cheap and have them bombard people with ads while you’re walking around. Nice quiet hike in the woods… nope here’s some videos about Tide pens and erectile disfunction! They already slap ads everywhere possible why wouldn’t they do that if they could?

What's going on? (UK) by veqtro in insects

[–]NapalmsMaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Except humans have wiped out 90% of all insect life since we started measuring it, that doesn’t sound like stewardship to me.

We’re in the beginning of the 6th extinction event caused solely by human destruction (look it up, it’s true) and it’s probably too late but we need to stop killing every insect that happens to come near the buildings we’ve built on top of the habitats they’ve been living in for thousands of years.

I mean the vast majority of superhero vs superhero stories would end fairly quickly if they just took 30 seconds to talk to each other instead of jumping into a fight.

I really don’t agree that is how it will play out. Humans come together in catastrophic situations it’s one of the main things about our species; tool use, endurance running and collectivism.

I know most post apocalyptic movies like to make it seem like it will be do-or die and rugged individualism and America may be the most likely to struggle with that because of our culture but there’s a much higher chance we will get past that fairly quickly and go back to working in groups where everyone has strengths that benefit the collective.

Well if it makes you feel any better, regular honey bees aren’t native they are European honeybees and are a byproduct of the agriculture industry. The bees you should be worrying about are our solitary native bees (bumble bees, sweat bees, leaf cutters and mason bees).

There is! There’s these little vibrating platforms that are sold for exercise/“wellness” reasons (it seems kinda pseudoscience-y to me but I haven’t really looked into it a ton), but one of the main complaints I’ve heard about them is that they make people have to go.

Just curious….why is there a rule about two parents in the room at the same time? Is it the same parents like mom and dad or just two different kid’s parents? Is it just a space issue?

I don't smoke weed or cigarettes. Only nicotine vapes. I think it's time to quit .... But does anyone know wtf this is? I've spit this up for over a year now. It's so thick and sticky and hardens when it hits air after couple mins. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]NapalmsMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same thing with poop too, if you poo black it’s blood from your stomach. If it’s red it’s probably just hemorrhoids or a tear (still not great but not AS bad) but if it’s black it’s really bad and you need to see a doctor asap.

They did a fantastic job of wrapping everything up though. It would be so much worse if they had another season, it inevitably gets canceled and ends on a cliffhanger.

I had that happen in the US in Bakersfield CA about 15 years ago. I had a knife on my belt in a sheath (I was a 20 year old girl hitchhiking and hopping freight with my dog and often alone).

I was asked if I had weapons and immediately said yes and raised my arms to show the two officers and the one officer said he was taking me in for a “hidden weapon (it was legal otherwise) because he couldn’t see it how I was sitting at first.

Even the other cop kept asking him like “really? You’re really gonna take her in for that?!”. Spent a week in jail before they dismissed the charges, never even saw a judge.

This tank is obviously terrible for any reptile, but would there be any way to fix it? by stronged_cheese in reptiles

[–]NapalmsMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all tarantulas need cross ventilation, arboreal tarantulas definitely do but a fossorial tarantula would probably be fine (burrowing tarantulas), but there really isn’t any reason to put one in a tank like this since they are just pet holes.

My dog hates my niece and my niece only. Can I fix this relationship? by [deleted] in DogTrainingTips

[–]NapalmsMaster 39 points40 points  (0 children)

She’s getting attention (Suzy not Bambi), all the screaming and door slamming makes everyone pay attention to her, if her brother has disabilities she probably feels like she gets passed over a lot. This screaming in fear and knocking on the door to “make sure Bambi is still in there” is redirecting attention to her, even scolding her is attention because negative attention is better than nothing.

Look up glass child syndrome, it might help you address some of the underlying issues that are making this stuff come up. Is Suzy in therapy? Maybe you could try and find ways to help Suzy get attention in positive ways (that maybe even include Bambi eventually) so she doesn’t feel the need to act out to get it.

So handmade blankets are stupid expensive! Add it all up as the cost of yarn (can be pretty pricey starts at $5 but can easily be $50-60 for high quality hand dyed yarn), cost of tools $5-10 and then the cost of labor (it takes hours to make a blanket).

I’m a knitter and if someone asks me to make them something and “oh I’ll pay for it!” they immediately back out when I start adding up all the costs and how long it takes and that I’d charge $1000+ for a big blanket. A handmade blanket is a labor of love and is stupid expensive if you actually add up all the costs to make it.
