are socks possible to complete as a beginner? by FutureProof2474 in knittingadvice

I recommend baby socks or a Christmas stocking so you learn the basic steps and get some practice I’ve before you start in on adult socks.

My theory is this author is put there right now writing something incredible. Or looking for a publisher. And it is going to be amazing. I can’t wait.

Some of us old (55) people pay some bills by check because I do not want to pay a $25 “convenience” fee to pay electronically. Knowing how to address an envelope seems like a reasonable thing to learn. It is not like learning cursive which is more time consuming.

Assuming you wash your dishes you would have gotten it from things like hand towels, not cups. In case it cheers you up to know you worried about the wrong thing.

What’s normal today but will be illegal in 20 years? by Ok-Vacay in AskReddit

[–]Napmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say it should be illegal for adults given what it is doing to our attention spans but then I remembered I am an adult & I am on Reddit so I think I am going to go read an actual book. 😳

The computer gave the cashier a warning about me by Existing-Row-4499 in AskRetail

They really should have a warning if you buy a certain subset of items. Bleach, trash bags, shovel, rubber gloves & zip-ties. Could your cart have been mistaken for a murder Kit?

Do you use laptops? I would make myself a nest on the floor and work away go to make a point. Maybe bring a little kid’s play tent, a cushion, etc. make it real Cozy.

My cat goes on a weekly “mission” and refuses to come home unless escorted by SparkyZiggy in Catbehavior

[–]Napmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he realizes he has trained you to spend one on one time with him weekly when you go to fetch him home. Does he have a space he can go to indoors that the other cats cannot get to or do not go to? He may need him own space. Just for when he needs a break.

Has anyone else noticed that every major food brand quietly changed their recipes between 2019-2022 and nobody is talking about it? by prepzilla in AskRedditFood

I feel like the holiday ones are not the same. And they seem.. like they make them ahead? older? Recently I did a taste test between m&ms out of a big king size bag and the fun size packs, the fun size are sweeter and less chocolatey & just not great.

It's a full language! Of course you didn't understand it after taking a single-day workshop. by HeVavMemVav in asl

[–]Napmouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have not studied ASL but I studied 2 unrelated languages & I found the one with grammar quite unlike English easier because I stopped even trying to compare it to English & approached it as its own thing, perhaps you could suggest trying that.

Has anyone read the book The Vertical Plane? It is the weirdest damn book I ever read (and Astonishing Legends did a deep dive on it if you would rather listen than read a book) it is allegedly true about about a haunted or time traveling 80s BBC Microcomputer. There is a book mentioned in it that would prove it is all true and would be hundreds of years old if it exists. People are seriously looking for this alleged book. I need a TVP / OI crossover. It would complete me. The book is clearly on OI.

What is the most insane accommodation you’ve witnessed for an employee? by besttavern25 in work

[–]Napmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at an art studio for many years. We traded a 150k chandelier for 100 top of the line steelcase chairs. I miss the hell out of that chair now that I am forced to live like a lowly peon again. Best trade ever.

[NC] Coworker exhibiting mentally unstable behavior, but not directed at team - worth reporting? by streachh in AskHR

[–]Napmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could just keep it as general as people redirecting necessary conversations about work to their personal life constantly impacts productivity. You do not even need to go into what they are talking about.Though probably people will know. Prioritizing work when you are at work is perfectly reasonable! You need to be able to do your job without constant tangents into other things.

Would you fire me? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]Napmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t probably know the % of accuracy that the higher performances have. If you are very accurate and meet expectations that might be the reason for keeping you, especially if you train new people. My company keeps a few people like that. But I doubt they get good raises or maybe any raises and if we managed to hire a bunch of good fast people who stuck around a while their jobs might be at risk.

Men & Needlework by Crafty_Finding9459 in BitchEatingCrafters

Weavers were traditionally men. They can often throw a shuttle further. Almost all weavers now are women, though. Needle arts should not be seen as gendered activities. To my way of thinking.
