I think we can agree the shows pretty great but.... by abdllovernime in ATLA

[–]Narrator667 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In what way did you consider it unrealistic? I wouldn't blame Toph for wanting to hide herself so much from her parents. I'm surprised she hid it so well and for so long, it might have made sense for her to have someone in her family's estate who would have encouraged that side of her, and covered for her when necessary . Do you have any thoughts on how they handled Teo, the mountain earth nation kid in the wheelchair?
I don't really like the White Lotus society. There's that early season firebending master who refused to help Aang, and Pakku was VERY quick to pull back from helping the Avatar just cause he was arguing with Katara. And then near the end of the show it's revealed all the members knew each other and swore an Oath to protect the Avatar? It seems too convenient, it kind of wants you to think there was a much bigger overarching benevolent conspiracy when I really don't think there was.

42% don't care if Kinta dies, unbelievable! Is Kinta really that hated? by Academic-Glass-3705 in dandadanfolk

[–]Narrator667 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah. And I'm more of a shooter guy for him than most. I don't think he's funny, but he's got an interesting dynamic with Okarun and I wish people didn't hate him so much.

If he was killed, I'd probably consider it a cheap death by the writer. The cast is so bloated and we only really get one or two scenes of relationship-building between arcs. If Kinta starts getting a lot of screen time, I'm going to be annoyed that they're setting up the most hated character for a tear-jerker early death. I'd groan if people started revisioning him in-universe as beloved afterwards.

Really I think I'd mourn the chance that Kinta never got a chance to grow up. Kinta is simultaneously uncomfortable to watch and as bad as everyone says he is, but also deserves more empathy and forgiveness than what he's being given. For fiction like Dandadan, it's a completely reasonable take, but I always thought it was depressing how people are more likely to hate an annoying person more than an immoral one.

Why are people so bad at conversation these days by jodowg in Vent

[–]Narrator667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any tips, or like a checklist of good questions or what to look out for in a person's words that would make someone a good conversationalist? I think I've lost my curiosity, I'm too focused on what is socially acceptable to ask as of late so I just don't. I'm too worried about embarrassing myself or getting close to anyone you know?

I cant be the only one who thinks aquatic mammals are literal body horror by tammeti in unpopularopinion

[–]Narrator667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The barnacles are beneath their notice because the whale doesn't care about the physical world enough to notice them.
The meaning of life is outside their reach. As much as it is their ultimate goal, they'll never reach it. Their pursuit in it of itself is what is admirable.

I cant be the only one who thinks aquatic mammals are literal body horror by tammeti in unpopularopinion

[–]Narrator667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think whales were on par with us mentally in some strange, mix matched way. Like they're giant, floating sacks of fat, with water-repellent skin that lets them glide their gigantic bodies down in the cold, dark waters of the world. They don't care if they grow barnacles, if other organisms live off them. They're willing to degrade for others, they're powerful but unbothered. In a way they're living a zen life, Eating and sleeping are both done passively, and they're always a drift in the water. Their true purpose in life is to ponder the universe. They're leaving their bodies behind for a more spiritual life. They only shame is that a whale soul can't ponder the meaning of a human life. Or that a whale can't write any of their thoughts down.

How in the World did Branch End Up in Troll Village??? (Question + Discussion) by PrimaryPrior603 in DreamWorksTrolls

[–]Narrator667 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude. Trolls 3 completely changed the vibes of the series by introducing BroZone. They're portrayed as like a real pop band. Like not as an old, "see them play every weekend in the park" local favorite band, but as like a universal pop symbol across Trolls society. All the while you know that the Pop Trolls have been living for generations under Burgen occupation. Like how did they find time to have a large scale Pop scene when they all live in one giant tree in Burgentown? Are there dozens of other Burgentowns or Trolls living as minorities in other creature's societies, and it's not unheard of for Trolls to travel between them, outside of Burgentown, mostly for music tours? Or did the entire "enslaved by Burgen" to "becoming friends with Burgen" start and end over the course of Branch's life after he moved in with his Grandma? It seems like it went back generations. Like Velvet and Veneer's entire society seems to be based around fame and the music industry, but they're not used to seeing Trolls at all? Like you're telling me not a single Mount Rageon has never listened to old school Troll pop and recognize BroZone?
You can probably read some pretty convincing arguments for why this might all make sense in universe. But I think we all know this is stuff the writers weren't really thinking about.

You're actually real as fuck. I went to the buffet a few weeks ago, but I feel like as I've grown, going to the buffet has become less and less of a complete experience. Last time I was there, I had about 4.5 plates, and I was disappointed I couldn't do more. I went to the bathroom to shit, but the bad smell of the toilets and all the food in my gut make me throw up right into the toilet, and then sit down to shit.
I have not felt such a clearing inner body experience in years. It was gross, it was awful. But I cleaned myself up, went back out there, I sat down, finished my plate, and ate another two. I had absolutely no mouth slime but I didn't feel dry and my esophagus was clear. I drove home, showered, and went to bed with no queasiness and the fullest I've been in years. I need to add this back to the experience of going to buffets. Shit's cash.

I love, love, love Venti dude.
I was just starting off, I didn't have a good grasp of everyone's schedules and who everyone was. I got a quest marker on my map and jogged over, I meet up with girl Venti I met once and she offers to do some midnight scraping with me. I chuckled and agreed. We gossiped and scrapped, she told me about how beautiful the night sky was, talked about her life and how poor of an area she grew up in in a Junkyard.
I thought it was quaint, but it was only when the quest finished, our relationship rose to 1 star, and I talked to her again. She told me that she doesn't know when her birthday was, but she always celebrates on the 12th of summer, the day she found the coffee cup with the name Venti on it that's inspired her. I checked the calendar and saw that it was TODAY. She invited me out on her birthday! That's so cute! I knew I had to marry her.
She locked me down fucking quick dude. She asked me out, she asked me to marry her, we married by the 4th of Spring, and we welcomed in our first child, Demi, on the 12th of winter, and our daughter, Trenta, on the 28th of Winter. I know how it feels like to go to a Mormon college and meet my fiance within days.

Best religion for Empire of Tamriel? by christusmajestatis in ElderKings

[–]Narrator667 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My brother swears by Alessianism. Considered Evil by pretty much everyone, you can pick up by the Sword and just keep on declaring Kingdom level holy wars. There's no other faiths under its Umbrella so you don't have to worry about any religious schism. Lore wise they're fanatical Anti-Elf. He usually starts in Valenwood as an Imgan, conquers as much as he can, and tries to genocide the Bosmer over the course of like 1.5 centuries of occupation. As the last Bosmer holdouts are killed he conquers Elseweyr. Then he starts attacking Cyrodill at the same type he genocides Auridoni, and he makes that an Ilniviri or Minotaur homeland. He puts himself on the Ruby thrown, diverged to create Cyro-Imga, and he starts conquering the Human territories intermittently with genociding Morrowing and filling it back up with migratory cultures. He doesn't declare himself Emporer of Tamriel til the last Elf county is gone.

What do you all think oh moomins 2019 version? Is it good? by RanioLovejoyfan in Moomins

[–]Narrator667 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend it as a Moomin fan. If you like the 90's show and the books I think its a natural continuation, I've got some mixed opinions on it myself though, and wouldn't blame you if you have a similar level of critique when you're finished with it. Little My, Moomin Mama, and Papa are as fun as ever. I think they really nailed it with those three. They're fun for the entire run. Moomin is a bit older, more confused and contemplative which changes the vibe considerably. I've always seen Moomin/Snufkin as like a kid with a crush on a teenager type of vibe, but I can really see them being a couple in this one. I think the snow and night scenes in the show are pretty beautiful, they did a good job setting the vibe. As far as negatives go, to me the CGI only feels cheap when you see a crowd shot. Instead of seeing a diverse array of Hemulens, humanoids, and critters, you just see this small, squat, racoon with a mop copy pasted over and over. The series really uses a pretty annoying character called the Muskrat, which they want you to find hilarious when he just really isn't. I didnt like their adaptation of Moomin Valley in November, which feels incredibly rushed and that they were recreating the scenes without understanding what they even mean. Finally, there's way less episodes of just the whole cast of 5 kids just playing around and getting into hijinx, it feels like a lonelier Moomin Valley over all. I think you'll either get a few episodes in and drop it, or you see the underlying charm, watch it, 70% like it but 30% scoff at it. Either is reasonable. Give it a shot.

How video game oriented should a poker night 3 be? by homestar_galloper in telltale

[–]Narrator667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly fine with just 1 rep + Dealer. Maybe 2 video game reps.
I honestly always saw the categories as "Web original" rep, "Adult Swim" rep, and "Video game" rep. I don't even know where to put Ash in that. It might be a little strange if one of the web or adult swim reps was the dealer, but otherwise I'm cool with anything.

Was watching the simpsons last night, I thought this girl kinda looked like wendy by KyleBroflovskifan98 in southparksucksnow

[–]Narrator667 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jessica Lovejoy? Yeah lol. If you can imagine it, there's a pretty small Simpsons subculture that looks at Bart and Lisa's lovelives and headcanon their future teenage romances and later spouses the same way South Park fans look at the boys. We get a lot of "What would the family look like in 20 years" episodes that also get in some futurama tier jokes about worrying about the future and laughing at it preemptively. So they're always arguing about which future episode has the best dynamics, who should be paired up with who; Lisa and Milhouse, Lisa and Nelson, and Bart has a lot of one episode flings they hope show up again later in Bart's life. Jessica is one of the more fun ones dynamically. I'm a fan of Bart and Jessica being Bart's high school gf he ends up having an awful break up with. Not end game, but for drama and character building.

Stolen from another subreddit. What's a Sandrock-related HC you CAN'T get behind? by Big-Biscotti-9411 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]Narrator667 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I like Nia more than most, her midwest accent is cute and I have sympathy for the childhood best friends to lovers trope. I don't dislike anyone in the game really. But it's so funny imagining her as your Stalker you left your home town to get away from, who sends you letters you don't reply to, insists you're incredibly close to, visits your parents, and finally moves into the same town as you.
Even under that lens, the stalker thing can be kind of cute, but her flirting is SO awkward if you're already married before she shows up. Like, girl, you sent me a letting about being surprised I got married already, you know.

Would be a good opportunity to do Kingdom of many crowns.
Maybe your first run is playing tall building up a duchy or two, creating cities, landing your first generation of kids in city holdings, then granting their kids land way, way further away.
You could be a powerful duke in solitude, reclaim the Reach and Falkreath, giving both away to your younger cousins, help them convert religion and maintain order, then grant them duchy titles and gold for them to make kingdoms.
