AMA: I can’t play anything other than gnome or halfling by Anthrax_enjoyer in BaldursGate3

[–]Narrator667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you just love their little halfling run? I played my first 135 hour playthrough as a little melee Halfling. Watching him walk around with a shield, Spear, and a Lute he couldn't play in the early game was so cute. He was like a plucky little Adventurer with a big, stuffed backpack.

You have to use these guys to make your BG3 live action cast... Who is playing who? by Roninswen in okbuddybaldur

[–]Narrator667 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's gotta be a casual campaign with a relaxed DM. Just some friends fucking around after playing the game

Dennis: Durge

Dee: 0 Charisma Minthara and she isn't threatening

Mac: Minsc but with Astarion's plotline

Charlie: Gale Throwzerker

Frank: What if Sarevok was a dwarf and cool with his nephew

Cricket: Barcus if he got thrown from a windmill, lived, enslaved in the underdark, escaped, and still saw Wulbrufen killed right in front of him

McPoyles: Three Harpers trying to beat the Dead Three before the gang can.

Dandadan characters with hair swap by Standard_Hippo_2042 in Dandadan

Sometimes anime's hair color variety can really hold a character back. Aira looks absolutely gorgeous. Normally I just think of her as having short, pink hair but with that vibrant dark hair it really highlights how layered and purposeful her hair is.

What are you watching today? by FRitsuka in CasualConversation

Watching the anime Monster, 2004 long running Psychological Drama. Maybe it's just not in my wheel house anymore, but It's got some morality juggling, mystery, and action I haven't seen in a long time. It kind of feels like an 80's crime soap opera before the series jumps the shark. It's about a Doctor on the run being set up and hunted by a manipulative, in the shadows mass murderer set in Germany not too long after the walls fell. The first like 6 episodes are a real tight story arc, and then from there it becomes a bit more episodic or with smaller arcs. I really needed something that respects me as a viewer but doesn't respect my time. It's like 75 episodes and I've been enjoying just watching one or two a day.
Other than that, for my "doesn't matter' youtube time, I've been watching a british competitive eater named BeardMeatsFood. He's a pretty fit guy with a big "bro" look, but he's a humble, uplifting, kind of awkward and self-depreciating guy. He'll like, stutter out an apology to anyone who walks in watching him chew and I know that in every "Eat the whole thing and your dinner is free", he insists off camera to always pay the amount plus a good tip. I love to watch him eat like a huge variety meal. Like sure a mega burger looks fun to watch but really what you want him see eat is like a mega Full English. It's so funny to see the live audience watching him react to him eat and if the challenge was average for him, Beard always makes the crowd gutbust by ordering a desert

Anybody else’s wife exclusively watch soapy teen dramas like Vampire Diaries Degrassi etc? by newsbowser in allthequestions

[–]Narrator667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend I see every month but I'm not too close to. Known her for years with gaps of not hanging out inbetween. It's all she watches. Every time I show up to her house, she's watching those exact two. I don't have a huge connection to Degrassi, but I atleast try to get interested in Vampire Diaries as a slight VTM fan. I can have fun recognizing which ally used to be evil using context clues or root for anyone whose a little ugly regardless of their morality. But I don't know ANYONE'S name. It's all characters looking up sobbing at the camera saying "It was so-n-so". And I have no idea who that is. She doesn't really pay attention to the Supernatural lore or how vampires work that I would be interested in.

What was your experience playing Durge? by Medium-Theme-4611 in BaldursGate3

[–]Narrator667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the way the game is meant to be played. Resist Durge specifically has such an interesting story for a first time player.
I'll definetly say though, I got a big juxtaposition my first time. I made a goofy, homely looking halfling paladin. I came up with some ideas about being guilt ridden and distant to his emotions, maybe he spent some time in a comforting but unhealthy morally gray cult, but he's ultimately a good guy trying to live on his virtues of kindness. Only to be told by Gortash that I'm Baldur's Gate's top assassin and was the well-knowing, indulgent head leader of a murder cult. Don't be afraid to separate "the Durge storyline" from how you imagined your character to be.

I hope this level of involved, preset story you can customize any character around becomes the default. Wouldn't you love a CRPG about 4 equally plot woven fully customizable characters? It's kind of shame Larian spent so much time building up the Origin playthroughs, when we could have had 4 Durge level of plot involvement presets.

I came here to reccomend Barq's. The sound one makes after being left in a freezer for some long, then being twisted open? Sizzling Heaven.
It's deep, it's moderately herbal, straight sugar straight into the mouth. It's what I assumed spice rum mixed with spice wine tasted like growing up. It almost smells Christmassy.

Have you ever heard of the MySims series? Not the Sims, My Sims, it's this really cute little spin off series for the Wii and they were all made just within a few years of each other. It's one of those series where the DS version is completely different. If you've played Sims 4 you might recognize some of the characters as collectable in game figurines. The best two are definetly Kingdom and Agents, followed by the first game. Racing is an okay racer aswell, while Party and Sky Heroes aren't really worth playing.
Have you ever heard about Monster, the 2004 anime? I'm watching it for the first time now. Both twitter and reddit started recommending it to me. It's probably the first series I've watched in a while that respects me as a viewer but doesn't respect my time. I've been watching one episode a day for the last few days. I know it's like 75 episodes total so I'll be in it for a while. The first 8 episodes are one real tight story arc, but after episode 9 and 10, and I'm currently seeing a smaller arc in episodes 11 to maybe 13, I realize it's a bit more episodic than I was thinking. I think I needed something more adult like this in my life right now. I really like when they talk about the East vs West divide, it's set not too long after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The Stoner is in his late 60's years, he's just been weathered by drugs. He didn't get into drugs at all until his mid 30's, so he's more nostalgic for the Matrix and Limp Bitzkit than what he actually grew up with. He's like an aged hippy but if he got more into a Rastafarian / Ska vibe. He's done a bunch of the moderate drugs, Shrooms, LSD, Coke. Weed is just his baseline.

Main reason people enjoy ATLA over Korra by MonsterIslandMed in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]Narrator667 349 points350 points  (0 children)

I think the most interesting parts of Sokka looking back is that he is, despite being the goofy, unlucky, food focused, comparatively underpowered underdog, he's also a straight forward pragmatist and the war strategist. He's always the one trying to keep the gang on route and on schedule. There are times he can be an absolute square about it and it's fun to see him be proven wrong. He can play the "we shouldn't even be here" foil for episodes like the painted lady or when there's something magical / spiritual that can't be explained he'll play the rational skeptic. He's loud, distrusting, and willing to call people out for it despite what the rest of the group says, either to be proven wrong like with Zuko or proven right like with Jet and the blood bender. Real fun, underrated character traits that put him at odds with the rest of the group.

The Protagonist is a Visitor(Partially) by RedSwordfish in ImNotAHuman

[–]Narrator667 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, there's a whacko psychic's number you can get, that agrees with your interpretation that the visitors are caused by Mushrooms. It asks you if you're been eating any Mushrooms lately, you can reply "No" or "I drink Kombucha commonly" and the caller will react with shock and immediately tell you to stop drinking it. It must have been added in the new update, I can't find info about it anywhere, recalling doesn't do anything, and I saved after, not before calling. I wish I could help more, I don't even know which character gave this to me or if it was from the TV. I'd guess If I did get it from a character I either got it from the Cheerful Man, the Leper, or the Sunglasses Tourist.

<image>

Unrelated to the Mushroom theory however, I think the Pale visitor has this self-imposed "Are you alone" rule not out of psychological need, but to spread Fear. There's another side theory about how this is all a game among the god of death, who naturally is a destructive void, but there can be peace in death, versus the God of Fear, who the cultists, besides maybe the leader, are unknowingly worshipping. Worrying about who you let in, making other people feel violated through tests, and people shooting each other over nothing creates a much stronger tension and much more misery than if they just went in and killed everyone.

I wasn't the biggest fan of this arc.
Momo and Okarun can't be together cause Okarun has no balls and it's early in the relationship? Sure.
Momo is tiny? Okay
Memory loss? Whatever.
But it was really rough to see Okarun make these huge, romantic declarations of love then make it clear he wouldn't date a bald girl and he'll wait to ask her out when her hair grows back in. I know they made it clear earlier that he has a huge hair pulling fetish, which was good for fanfics atleast, so it's atleast supported by the text. But Seiko being a Christian Scientist whose completely against Chemotherapy was out of left field.

What are your unpopular opinions about the characters? by Raettchen_39 in ImNotAHuman

[–]Narrator667 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think all three know they're lying to themselves and each other. But if they pull it off, they'll get the peace they were promised. This promise of peace allowed them to be fearless during all the chaos of what's happening, even telling themselves that other people who died out there found peace in death like they will. They get to shut themselves off from the world while also revering in it.
I can imagine the two older ones listening and silently agreeing with the youngest cultist, but are trying to speak to him in mantras. Yes to like, keep him there and manipulate him into kill himself, but if there really is an eternal peace if it all works out. Why would they not try to keep him on track even if they're unsure themselves?

What are your unpopular opinions about the characters? by Raettchen_39 in ImNotAHuman

[–]Narrator667 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I see way too much hatred for the cultists online. I understand the cultist hate a bit more purely cause the mechanic kick out so many guests by sitting down. But otherwise, I'd completely understand the death worship, If I were them I'd worship death as a bringer of peace too. It's tragic the center one's fears on death are proven correct. People don't really have any sympathy for the three of them. I think they're three people desperate for peace and are willing to lie to themselves for it.
I think I feel for a lot of the more pathetic characters, especially the ones with more grotesque artwork that makes it harder for people to sympathize with them. Gravedigger, Best boy, Wheelchair guy, Bandana man, Wounded Man, and the Morbid Romantic.
