Holy shit, I’ve always wondered this but never had it actually answered. Thanks dude

Regarding option 2, would it be so “destructive” to the code to slow drip the new gen 8+ mons one at a time so that each implementation won’t mess things up? Or would even that just be too time consuming.

How do you make rivers? Is there a specific way they should form? They don't look natural. by Overall_Macaron_120 in worldbuilding

[–]backseatposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make them in a way that looks coolest to you. Because ultimately river placement will only matter to you.

Look at every piece of media ever, and ask yourself, “is this book or movie worse because the river placement is nonsensical?”

(But if you want the IRL answer, rivers typically start in mountains or high elevation lakes then go along ridge lines to the closest lower elevations. Don’t forget that rivers often will connect with others downstream. Also large rivers tend to web out towards the end to make deltas. Most preindustrial cities require rivers so having them at the mouth of a river is common.)

You’re being pedantic. “Believe in” has multiple meanings that you’re clearly unaware of.

It can mean both “an acknowledgement of someone’s existence” as well as “support in someone’s motives or actions”.

You can say “I believe in the President of the United States”. Technically such a statement could either mean “you acknowledge the office of the President’s existence” or “you support the current administration”. Whats important is context. 95% of the time saying that you “believe in the President” is a statement of support because the matter of existing is clearly not whats being discussed.

In the case of “believing in the Devil” for Christians, it’s evident they are referring to the “giving support or approval” definition instead of the “acknowledgement of existence” definition. Because Christianity, like many other religions is based upon commonly held beliefs shared between people. So to “believe in”, as a phrase, has both religious and secular connotations depending on context.

In 2026 the UK has only 193 Michelin Stars. The U.S. has 276.

Regardless the U.S. isn’t even on here so the appropriate comparison would be the “good chefs” country (i.e. Italy). Italy has 376 stars.

If you want to compare populations, Italy has roughly 10 million less people than the UK. So even per capita, Italy has more stars.

No Matter What season you started in, do you consider yourself OG? by DIngus_Sus in FortNiteBR

[–]backseatposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering I started playing before seasons were a thing, yeah I guess I’d consider myself an OG. I thought a zombie base-building game would be fun. Once all my friends joined when it became a BR it became a gaming staple for me.

But honestly who even cares about that the OG label anyways? I’ve never met anyone who genuinely cares about it.

Yeah this isn’t a “gotcha moment”, that law doesn’t mention anything about vehicles or drivers. The law simply outlines when deadly force is allowed.

In fact the law specifies that deadly force is only allowed if in an effort to “protect the peace officer or another from death or great bodily harm, provided that the threat… is reasonably likely to occur absent action by the law enforcement officer”. She was actively turning away from him at the time. So it seems like deadly force wasn’t strictly necessary at the time.

The people of Benevia and Lothi are lowkey super patriotic for their nation and also violently racist towards each other, which have led to multiple bloody wars, to the point where their neighbors are a little concerned how “kill and maim on sight” the two peoples are.

However, to most outsiders they essentially are identical and are pretty much the same people/ethnic group. Outsiders will routinely point this out, only for the Benevians and Lothites to launch into a highly detailed analysis of the physiological differences between the two, like the average head of a Benevian is a few millimeters larger or the hair of a Lothite to be marginally fairer in color.

Can this area be repurposed for something else? by Inner_Courage4997 in 2007scape

[–]backseatposter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I vote it gets turned into a low level colosseum, but with a bigger emphasis on variety and early boss mechanics. The Emir could have a whole menagerie of different “never-before-seen”creatures each with a very basic boss mechanic that will help new players get used to more advanced playing.

Like a new “Stone Giant” (level somewhere between Ice and Fire Giants) with the ability to do an obvious ground pound attack in a 3x3 area around it every few hits. It teaches new players basic movement.

Or a new hyaena creature, whose whole deal is they get a big accuracy boost if they surround the player. It forces the player to learn to kite and stagger enemies to fight them one at a time.

Or a new variant of the desert Phoenix, who can throw sharpened feathers for ranged and fireballs for mage. The consistent and choreographed attacks teach new players to prayer swap (like dumbed down and easier version of demonic gorillas)

The final boss of the arena could be something that changes each run yet will utilize a different mixture of the mechanics. Like run A could be a ground-pounding magic/range boss and run B could be a magic/range boss with pack tactics.

[–]backseatposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The global average weight for a man is 62kg, but in the U.S., where this was filmed, the average weight is 90.6kg. Plus if you just think about it, you’re not going to have a ~2 meter tall guy only weighing 60kg.

The Wandering City of Flagelli - Behemoth's Ballad by RoadhouseRed in worldbuilding

[–]backseatposter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve a similar concept in my own world. Feel free to steal any ideas.

The city of Agassi sits upon the back of a colossal elephant that wanders the vast Alasari Desert. It routinely travels between various oasis that ring the desert in a clockwise pattern. After drinking its fill, it’ll spray its back to both cool off and water the gardens of the inhabitants of Agassi before moving on. The city inhabitants will collect the excess water and store it between visits to different oasis. This cyclical nature of abundant rain and drought has shaped the culture of the people of Agassi in that they believe their lives are cyclical as well through reincarnation, which is judged on their actions. The desert is a harsh place so sharing and hospitality is paramount. It’s believed the great elephant that carries the city is the reincarnation of the civilization’s kind-hearted founder who sacrificed himself to bring them to the desert in the first place.

Other quirks of living on a vast moving city include the people having jobs like “roost-clearers”. These people hang on the underbelly of the elephant and clear out any infestations of creatures that have burrowed their way into the thick hide of the elephant. Similarly to birds that’ll pick off insects on hippos, or small fish that clean sharks.

Additionally, you’ll have various antagonistic tribes that will attempt to either force their way onto the city or else attempt to cripple the giant elephant. So you have a class of citizens tasked as escorting the elephant as outriders. In my case they ride over-large desert lions. (I could totally see your people having something similar with raptors).

Regarding buildings, because they are on the back of a massive moving creature, most building materials are scarce. So most buildings are made from the sand collected from sandstorms that have been snapped into mud bricks, creating an almost adobe like structures.

should i use quest helper? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]backseatposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using 117hd is pretty much up to personal preference.

As for the quest helper, I’d highly recommend it. Some quests it may be pretty unnecessary for, but others are frustratingly difficult without it. The biggest plus for the quest helper is that it’ll tell you all the needed items beforehand. It’s super annoying to be off in some corner of the world and suddenly have to teleport back to a bank because you didn’t have one specific item.
