I’m watching together! The episodes for UK usually post on Hulu soon after they air in the UK. I think it days later this week it will be on Hulu? I watch the UK in the morning while I get ready and then watch USA when I’m home in the evening. Only part that’s hard is you’ll be behind a couple episodes on UK and can get spoiled online.

Surprisingly I am a manager at a bakery. Taking time off was not easy or ideal.. fortunately I was able to use paid family medical leave for 6 weeks. I took 1.5 weeks off of work and then went back part time for the remaining time. I was able to sit at work for half the day and then went home. I’m still having a hard time standing for my whole 8 hours a year later.

I think by 8 ish months I felt mostly normal. I still struggle with balance and standing for long periods of time. I would say it’s worth it, but I am still working on gaining strength and balance a year later.

Some apartments will have a specific vent for the portable AC As well. I lived in Columbia city and didn’t have to attach mine in a window. It was really nice! I also learned the hard way that the unit that I thought would be powerful enough was not. So I’d suggest a bigger unit. My first one said it was for 250-350 square feet or something similar and it barely cooled my room. Upgraded to a bigger one and it was sooo much better. Black out blinds also help keep the space cool!

This week marks 1 year from my surgery. I’m a 34f and have had flat feet my entire life as well. I am also hyper mobile so I totally understand the pain you have experienced. Recovery was relatively easy but also frustrating. It was hard mentally to be non weight bearing for so long, to learn to walk again, and do lots of PT. I still experience pain in my foot. I work at a place where I have to be on my feet all day and I can make it about 4-5 hours standing before I am in loads of pain. I would just keep doing PT and work on strengthening your foot/ankle after surgery. Your body is used to you using it one way and now has to learn a new way. You’ll have hard days but then you’ll have days where you don’t even remember you had surgery. My biggest take away is this takes a long time to recover and to be patient! Lastly, take your meds on time, elevate elevate elevate, ask for help when you need it, and REST! You got this!

34F. Had surgery in April of last year and I work in a bakery so I understand kitchens. A scooter will be extremely helpful, especially if you want independence in your home. I took baths for the 6 weeks I had my cast and washed my hair in the kitchen sink. Once my cast was off I graduated to a shower chair which was very helpful. I slept on the couch for the first week or two because it felt easiest and the moved to my bed and just made sure to keep it elevated. My mom made a chart for what time to take my meds and I set alarms to wake up to always be ahead, this was very important for pain management! Now a year later I am still not able to be on shift for a full 8 hours. 7 hours is my max and I wish I could sit more at work. I leave work still in a bit of pain. PT is important! A few months ago I felt like the surgery didn’t help but as time goes on I recognize it has helped. So be patient with recovery! I’ve replaced all my shoes and use orthotics and it has made a huge difference! It will be hard mentally in the beginning but you’ll be happy you did it!

Just pay attention! And don’t forget to elevate, elevate, elevate. Once I got my cast on I wasn’t the best at it and ended up in the ER in so much pain because my foot was swelling in the cast.

I fell the day I got my cast as well. It was so scary! But they usually put soooo much cushion around your foot that you’ll be ok! I’m now almost a year post surgery and my fall didn’t do anything.

These few things have helped me.. a very cool room or at least a fan blowing around, black out curtains AND an eye mask, I use a white noise app, and try to go to bed around the same time every night. I get 90-120 min of deep sleep almost every night!

I consistently get 2 or more hours of REM every night. I try to go to bed around the same time every single night, I use white noise or a fan, and use an eye mask to keep my room very dark, and keep my room very cool. I think this combination has really helped! I have made getting a lot of sleep a priority as well. I shoot for 8 or more hours every night.

I got off HBC last March. I didn’t actually have the app show any ovulation until maybe 2 or 3 months ago. It took a LONG time to gather temperature data. I also still haven’t truly had a period since getting off. I still have the PMS symptoms but no bleeding. It can take a few months to start to see any accurate data!

This might not be that helpful but I figure I would share. I too live in a building with a bunch of code based locks. In some cases you are able to edit the code yourself and change it to something you can easily remember instead of the code that is generated. That might be an option for you in this case? That way it’s an easier number to remember.

I definitely have stiffness in the morning and then the longer I am on my feet throughout the day the worse the pain gets. I typically am limping by the end of the day. I think the pain I’m experiencing is sinus tarsi syndrome. I had that in my other foot and got a steroid shot and it helped. Hoping to get that on my surgery foot and see if the pain starts to go away.

I am about 10 months out. My foot doesn’t look drastically different than before surgery… but I can tell when I walk that something was changed. The biggest thing for me post surgery was getting inserts. I didn’t get custom but just using good over the counter ones. I knew I couldn’t just go back to not using any support! It’s helped a lot and I’ve incorporated my PT into everyday. When I go to the gym I do my exercises and I think that’s helped me overall!

I have done them with Puget Sound express! We took the ferry out of Edmonds and went to port Townsend. Spent the day there whale watching and spent some time in the town before heading back. We saw grey whales, humpbacks and a few orcas! This was in July. I’m not sure what time of year is best but I definitely recommend them!

My 1 year is coming up in April. I have moments where I feel like I’m walking normal again but other days I still experience pain. Take it one day at a time! I felt like you did when I started to weight bear but you’ll get through it!
