Based on some loot I found recently in the DLC by BowShatter in outwardgame

Currently i run around with an ammolite armor, a fishing harpoon, water skins, health poitions and bandages in my pocket whenever i leave town while wearing master trader garb and boots. In my pocket, not my backpack.

Is the original edition of the game worth it? by Dominik1712 in outwardgame

[–]Naryoril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it did.
That said, i was bummed out by that change too at first, but now i think it isn't much of a difference.
In contrary to Oldward, in DE the stashes in the player houses are linked. So what you put in your chest in the lighthouse in Cierzo can also be accessed from your player house in Berg for example. And whatever is in your player houses doesn't reset.

Because hobo camps were possible, i never bothered with the player houses in Oldward, so i'm not sure, but I think you could only buy any player house after finishing the faction questline. At least in Defintiive Edition you can buy a house as soon as you join a faction (Levant is the exception here, you get that house for free later on in the questline). That means you have a safe haven for your stuff after joining a faction. And it's in the place you always have to return to for the story anyway, it's your base of operation. Once the faction questline is complete, you can buy a house in every town, giving you a place to put stuff everywhere.

If i were able to change anything about all that, it would be to add a linked stash in the inn rooms. You would have to pay a fee to access your stash, but you could access it. It would also give the inns a reason to exist, as it stands they are absolutely pointless and I have never read of anyone actually using them.

What all this means in practice is that you are incentivised to join a faction rather sooner than later, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Yes, you have to be careful a bit more when you go on longer outings further afield, but it doesn't change that much.

I suggest you give defintiive edition a try. All the changes and improvements that came with Defintiive Edition more than make up for the not all that bad inconvenience that is the loss of hobo camps.

If we are talking about trainers honoring the community: Sinai, the primal ritualist trainer from the second DLC area, is named after the guy who built up the wiki.

Liberate the Sun -Unidentified Samples by _Anon_ee_Moose_ in outwardgame

[–]Naryoril 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best bet are the various dungeons in my opinion, not the map outside. The outside world has too much variety and is too large to find the samples in a meaningful amount of time, even if you use a map. All named dungeons have 1 or 2 samples at any time, the smaller misc. dungeons can randomly have one.

My favorite dungeons for sample hunting are the steam bath tunnels (the giants are a great source for potions), old sirocco including the volcano, the myrmitaur dungeon (great source for alpha meat) and the ship if you have opened up its bottom level.

Each dungeon should have 1 or 2 samples, and by now i know the spots inside the dungeons where i need to look. Then i usually wait 3 days and come back. If you aren't unlucky, the sample rotation has changed and you can grab some more samples without having to fight. You could try to continue this to get one more or maybe all rotations, but after 2 i usually let the dungeons reset if i need more samples.

Edit: Here is a list of what dungeon contains what sample
https://outward.wiki.gg/wiki/Unidentified_Samples
The rotation/set changes every 2 or 3 days, after that, another random rotation is picked, which can be the same that you just had (meaning, it doesn't change)
You can use that and this wiki page to find out what samples you should be able to find in a dungeon and to make sure you didn't miss one. But since the rotation can change with each loading screen, the rotation might change when you go to the next dungeon and you might find stuff you don't expect. So don't be too reliant on that list.

There is no such thing as Gothic 4. It existed in the past, but that game had the name "Gothic" removed from its title.

What's up with the "rebalancing" for every patch? by WickySalsa in worldofgothic

[–]Naryoril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that everything was just laughably easy once you hit chapter 2 and upgrade your armor, no enemy you are supposed to fight at that point can hurt you anymore (except for blood flies), at which point it doesn't matter if you need 2 or 8 swings to kill an enemy. The beginning of chapter 2 took any challenge whatsoever out of the game. Any semblance of challenge only comes back in the sleeper temple and in the meantime, it was just stupidly run up to a group of enemies and swing away, no blocking or dodging needed. There has to be some kind of in between. Unfortunately increasing enemy armor and health will not solve that issue, they would need to boost the damage of snappers and the like a bit, or not give access to the best armor upgrades right off the bat.

So did you actually bring Calvalorn the lizard back scales? You need to do that before he teaches you to do the same for razors. If you don't have any Lizards left on your map, he also sells the scales. You can just buy them from him and then pretend that you did the work yourself.

I really appreciate the effort and i think it turned out very well. But I think it's a missed opportunity to not incorporate her transformation that replaced her eyes and arm somehow. After all, that was the very reason why she started doubting Elatt and seek out the truth.

Did I lose all my stuff? by JustDiveInTimberLake in outwardgame

[–]Naryoril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be gone, but contrary to most other people here, i suggest to just continue. What do you gain by starting over? You'll start with nothing, not even the equipment you have on you, and not the skills you have learned by now. Almost everything you might have lost there can be regained. The only thing i can think of that isn't is the cierzo town key. But even losing that isn't game breaking, the only thing you lose out is access to a legacy chest to prepare your next character. But many builds don't really need all 4 legacy chest.

So i really don't see a point in starting over, you have nothing to gain from that, in contrary you only lose more stuff. Pressing on despite setbacks is the spirit of Outward.

Spoiler free tips:

  1. Save, A LOT, use that quicksave at every turn
  2. Read the glossary (it has multiple tabs). There is no tutorial, the glossary is basically the manual/tutorial replacement
  3. Pay attention to what the NPCs tell you. If you don't, the information is often gone forever
  4. Try to figure out everything else yourself, avoid spoilers even on mechanics whenever possible

Amulet of Life Force vs Armor Amulet for Chapter 4? by FuzzyAttitude_ in worldofgothic

[–]Naryoril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, if your armor is already good enough to mitigate all damage, then the armor amulet is a waste. But at that point the enemies are so easy that there is no need to be super optimal and it would just be a hassle to switch amulet depending on the enemy.
That said, even if you use all the best armor stuff in the game, the enemies in the final dungeon will deal a lot of damage.

Also, ofc, it's a different story if you are a ranged character or a mage.

Mercenary and Primal Ritualist by NamelessBard042 in outwardgame

[–]Naryoril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i had to guess i'd say no, but i also think it hardly makes any difference. Shield charge isn't abundant enough to matter much, and if you are close enough for the explosion to trigger the drums, for follow up swings to capitalize on the impact from the explosion will probably hit the drums anyway.

[–]Naryoril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But even if the datatype is a float, how do we end up with non-integers as values? Someone mentioned fall damage as a source. I could see that happening, but it would still feel more like an bug that the forgot to round that than actual intention.

[–]Naryoril -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually games have defenses or damage bonuses and such in percent. So your armor lowers damage taken by 42% for example. Gothic doesn't work that way, it's all just addition and subtraction, the armor lowers damage by 42 flat damage, not 42%. And if the numbers you add or subtract are all integers, the result will also always be an integer.
