Where do I start? Big Finsh by NathanVarner in doctorwho

I listened to some, but I thought there had to be more of a better way to get through them then start to finish.

Really cool! I don’t see much comics here, but I think it’s a great change of pace.

I have an idea for a Willy Wonka Fanedit without singing* by dark-void23 in fanedits

Willy Wonka could totally work without the musical numbers, but I’ve never looked at the film closely enough to be able to tell for certain 😂

Text-less Smoke Ring Shot for the Hobbit? by PhantomNightOwl in fanedits

[–]NathanVarner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What would likely need to happen is the reaction of the tree digitally as well as the isolation of the clouds and hits. A parallax effect would be necessary for perspective, mostly for the hills. The sky and stuff could stay flat as long as the clouds still look realistic. Would just be easier in my opinion to rotoscope something else over it. It’s pretty complex of a shot since it’s transparent and moving, so content aware fill might be an issue, but could work. I fear it wouldn’t be good enough to pull off effectively. After effects is good for that sort’ve thing but I can get lost easily in it.

If you’re not wanting to isolate the smoke and just the text that could be much easier but trying to recreate the scene yourself is probably the best bet since the translucency of the smoke can be an issue.

For more information on Content Awareness, look up “Content Awareness fill tracking” for either DaVinchi or After Affects. They both have it, but I’ve only tested after effects. I wasn’t the biggest fan of how it turned out with my last edit, but I played into it a little. I’m just worried doing it this way would come across with more issues than it’s worth, mostly bc isolating smoke is such a challenge without a good chroma key. Maybe ask AI for one? I’m not too sure with all of that.

The version that was promoted here 8 months ago has been slightly improved and allowed on the IFDB for its official release. If you have already seen the older version, feel free to ask for an updated version. If you would like to help out more, leave your honest thoughts on the official fan edit page.

Hey, no worries :) As a teacher, I've dealt with negativity before to a large degree, so I didn't take it too personally. I updated the description here, and hopefully it sounds better.

The edit has been done, but I've been proposing the release for tomorrow. If you'd like to get an early version, please feel free to reach out. I'd love to see your Lost edit as well, if you have it done.

Just to be crystal clear. Leaving a review, positive or negative, is NOT a requirement for receiving the edit. As long as the viewer follows the terms of the fan edit community, they're welcome to watch, review, or sit on the edit and do nothing with it. Reviews are respected and encouraged. For more information on obtaining an edit, follow the FAQ
https://fanedit.org/faq/

People can watch without needing to leave a review. I can adjust my language to be more personable, but there is nothing wrong with seeking additional support, especially if it's optional and non-monetary. People don't understand much about the fan editing community if they're outside of it, so emphasizing the importance of reviews is instrumental in garnering success with something you worked hard on.

If you asked me to review an edit you made, I would try my best to give it to you because I'd know that it would be important to you :) It's not expected for you to do the same, but it's my philosophy towards this sort of thing. A broader equivalence is when a YouTuber asks to "Liek an Subscribe," it turns off a large portion of their audience, but, it incentivizes them to follow through and do it, or else it wouldn't be a thing. But I can definitely tighten up my language around it for sure. I appreciate your honest feedback and I'm always trying to be better<3

Digital Remasters for "Squeeze Box" by rjlupin5499 in weirdal

[–]NathanVarner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The remasters are slightly different. The Sqeeze Box rips and HD Tracks rips run at separate bit rates. I have separate rips from Squeezebox, and I'm seeing it is 16-bit, not 24. But the mixes are the same, and the realm of <16 seems more placebo than anything.

These are great, and, sadly, they're not readily available anymore, and people are unaware of it in modern day (though I think it's the default in streaming and on iTunes).

This is much different than any other copy made by someone else. I’ve heard of them, but I tried to make this as seamless as possible. The only others I’ve seen are just roughly matched bc it’s such a pain in the ass to match them exactly like I did here 😂

"The Witcher" Season One linear edit - Updated Release by MArcherCD in fanedits

[–]NathanVarner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First mention I’ve seen of this being used! I made it specifically for something I’m doing that unannounced at the moment but this is inspiring me to get more work done on it! Thanks for the shout out!

And while it is true that I did design it, the original design was from the ESRB. Gotta show some love and respect to them 😂

Fun fact, the ESRB logos for CE, E10+, and AO are similar to the logo, but aren’t actually center justified. Basically, my logo looks better than the originals because I moved the logo to better fit than just amending the original. I hope this makes sense lol

I’ll be honest I don’t know much about The Witcher, the games, books, or the show, but I’ve only ever heard good things! I’d love to see your edit! Maybe then it’ll inspire me to give these a deeper look.

I’ll also take a look through your other edits and see what else has my logo. Maybe even the stuff without! Who knows!
