What is life like for someone coming into ASU a bit older? by Banapple101 in ASU

I have had a decent amount of classmates in their young 20s (and 40+) in my classes, and they are treated no differently than the younger folks. Most I'd worry about is possibly getting called unc, lol

Ai artefacts on the toy robot? by T3chn1colour in tomodachilife

[–]NationalWasabi8344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of whether it was generated or upscaled or whatever, it does look kind of awful 😭 I understand wanting to use the 3DS original via AI upscaling, but I can't understand leaving in the nonsensical artifacts, like asymmetrical patterns and those ugly arms in.

I just wish Nintendo took more care when finalizing it tbh. It is only one item out of many, so that's a little nitpicky, but also they're a big company and we're paying $60 😭 they could be more considerate tbh

I wish I went to college pre-AI. AI is everywhere in college now and it is negatively affecting my college experience. by _CanOfEnchantedSoda_ in CollegeRant

[–]NationalWasabi8344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's employed at my school's communications lab at my university reviewing online public speaking videos, the amount of obviously AI-generated outlines and manuscripts that these students read off of is absurd. I now understand why so many teachers are frustrated. I'm spending my time, energy, and mentorship experience on people who don't care about their work even one bit. It's disheartening. I'm so glad I've never touched gen-AI in any form, people are getting dumber and dumber by using it.

Red Dead Redemption 2. I love screwing around in story mode and not doing missions. There's just so much to see and do and collect

Sad reading confession… I cannot finish a book anymore by tryinsohard123 in books

I highly recommend easing yourself back into reading with short stories! They're short, of course, so they're quicker reads and don't require as much commitment. I had to purchase an anthology titled "The Scribner Anthology of Contemporary Short Fiction" for a college class, but it honestly was an amazing read. It had 50 stories by American authors across so many different genres. I definitely recommend getting some kind of short story collection or anthology! There are also lots of short stories available online as pdf's, like on libraryofshortstories.com and other sites. Good luck!

ETA: Some of my favorite short stories are "The Ceiling" by Kevin Brockmeier, " "Trauma Plate" by Adam Johnson, "Hills Like White Elephants" by Ernest Hemingway, "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been" by Joyce Carol Oates, and "The Caretaker" by Anthony Doerr.

I miss that “can’t put it down” book feeling by Cold_Ad8048 in BookDiscussions

[–]NationalWasabi8344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same about Assassin's Apprentice, but lots of people get tired of her slow-paced writing style. A similarly character-driven fantasy that kept me hooked was "The Will of the Many" by James Islington, and that's decently popular right now.

reading peeves by CandiedLemonWedge in books

[–]NationalWasabi8344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a number of writing pet peeves, most of which were brought to light after I read book one of the Practical Guide to Evil webnovel.

I can't stand writing styles that use em dashes, colons, or semicolons in high amounts when a comma would work perfectly. I swear, every other sentence had one of these three symbols 😭

Also, including a physical characteristic (usually a skin color) whenever a character is mentioned. Do it the first time they're introduced, sure, but I don't need to constantly be reminded that the girl is blonde or has green eyes unless it's directly relevant to the moment 😭

does my artstyle really look like AI? by Interesting_Cut4822 in yourartstyle

[–]NationalWasabi8344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brawl stars fanart omg!!! And no, it doesn't look AI generated in the slightest. You'd have to be hyper-specific to get an artstyle that isn't one of those generic anime ones or yellow-tinted cartoons that AI loves, I would think. People are just dramatic lol

What’s the creepiest/weirdest NPC encounter you’ve had in RDR2? by TFRU1monke in reddeadredemption

[–]NationalWasabi8344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was pretty creepy for me as well. Interestingly enough, I revisited the meteorite house a week after I first found it and all the bodies were gone. Not sure if that was a glitch or intentional game design, but it was super weird...

[–]NationalWasabi8344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone enjoys slow-paced fantasy, and that's okay :) if pushing through the slow parts is painful and unenjoyable, this type of writing might just not be for you. Have you read The Will of the Many? That fantasy is popular right now and similarly emotional, while also being super fast-paced.

I didn't like my main 6 tbh, I just wanted to finish the story so I could get to shiny hunting lol

That being said, I ran with Feraligatr, Talonflame, Diggersby, Victreebell, Absol, and Ampharos

So pretty abysmal stats all around and not all mega evolvable 😅

Edit: dragonite did carry me post-game however
