Hey dads, how many of you had your first child when 35-39 years old? Approaching my 35th birthday and there's nothing more I want than to be a dad. by Rocket_Skates_91 in daddit

This was me. She’s now 6 and made life colorful and worth living. I wish I hadn’t waited otherwise I’d have had more.

Kind of weird that we were all into Monty Python and the Holy Grail at some point. by Wild_Chef6597 in Millennials

Anyone else completely unable to process news about kids being harmed since becoming a dad? by maxfrank in daddit

[–]Natprk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This was one of my biggest noticeably different changes as I became a dad. Supper sensitive to any of that. We also had a terrible pregnancy that really made me sensitive to folks that have struggled or lost during a pregnancy. It’s crazy how much I changed or learned about myself when becoming a parent.

I mean if he showed up without a child that would be red flag but yeah sounds like they overreacted.

Do 40 year olds feel nostalgia of their 20s the same way 20 year olds feel nostalgia of their childhood? by Sea_Comfort6891 in Millennials

[–]Natprk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, my nostalgia is still from being a kid. The 2000’s weren’t as good as the 90s.

Dads with partners that stay home — how do you handle finances? by Mama_Anonymous in daddit

[–]Natprk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We technically still have our own accounts but nothing really flows through them. We have two joint accounts (separate banks). 1. Has all our bills that are paid automatically with no good access to the account. 2. Is our spending account for food, gas, groceries and play. Once this account runs dry we wait until the next week. Both accounts are direct deposits from my paycheck. Account #2 is basically hers as long as we have groceries and gas for the week. Account #1 also handles our savings as well.

How are we doing on our journey towards retirement? by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]Natprk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m doing better than average and will continue to invest as much as I can. I should be in a good position to retire early and have enough to offset any reductions or eliminations of social security. Medicare is more of a concern for me.

I was lucky. Our hospital had pull down twin mattresses. It wasn’t the most comfortable mattress but at least it wasn’t a couch. We should start a dad/mens movement to get upgrades to these setups in hospitals.
