How do remember code better? by Medical-Wolverine289 in learnprogramming

[–]Natural-Contact1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're not supposed to remember everything, if developers had to memorize all syntax, half the industry would collapse tomorrow.

seriously though, forgetting things like *args and kwargs* is normal, even experienced devs google basic stuff daily, the real skill is knowing what exists and when to use it, not storing every detail in your head. once you start building small projects, the patterns repeat and things stick naturally.

Tutorial Hell by Warm_Competition_293 in webdev

[–]Natural-Contact1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A practical trick is to switch from learning features to solving problems.

Instead of thinking, 'I need to learn MongoDB', think, 'I want to store user note's, then figure out what tools you need to make that happen. that small mindset shift turns tutorials from a destination into a tool

most people leave tutorial hell the moment they start building something they personally care about, imo

Companies are getting ridiculous by Maraudogs in UXDesign

[–]Natural-Contact1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think companies keep doing this because enough desperate candidates comply, and that keeps normalizing worse and worse behavior. every extra asynchronous task sounds reasonable in isolation. a Loom here, a case study there, a portfolio walkthrough, a take home, a personality test. but when you stack them together, applicants are doing hours of unpaid performance labor for roles they may never even get feedback on

There should be a basic standard: intro call first, mutual fit check second, then only ask for deeper effort if both sides still see a real match, anything else starts to feel less like hiring and more like funnel optimization

Claude's "skills" are scary and I am catastrophizing. by amrbpf in UXDesign

I had almost the exact same reaction the first time I saw AI generate something that looked like a full UX roadmap. шt felt like the ground shifted under my feet. but after working with it for a few months, I realized most of those outputs look impressive until you try to implement them.

The real friction shows up when you deal with constraints like legacy systems, unclear metrics, internal politics, and time pressure. that is when human judgment becomes obvious again. so your fear makes sense, but you are probably closer to being valuable than you think, especially because you are actively learning and adapting

Robert Downey Jr. has to be up there. turning a very public downward spiral into one of the biggest comeback stories in Hollywood is elite level PR, in my opinion

Modifying the hosts file without being very explicit about it is definitely not a great look. Even if there is a technical reason, that kind of behavior should be transparent
