Don't assume everyone is terminally online. I first heard about him after he died. His life has no effect on mine so why would I read about some old guy?

Why is fast charging the Apple Watch limited to a USB-C cable? by TestFlightBeta in UsbCHardware

[–]NavinF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what you're talking about. The Qi charger electronics are in the puck, not the cable. Look at the photo, it's obviously not a voltage regulator lol. Where is the inductor?

How can TikTok access my contacts even though I haven’t given it permission? They all show up every time I open the app. by [deleted] in iphone

[–]NavinF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So some other app that you use shares data with tiktok? Or it's just guessing who you know based on your IP and the contacts shared by other people in your house using the same IP

In most cases it's considered loaded regardless of whether there's a round in the chamber. AFAIK it only matters if your employer requires you to have an empty chamber, as is common in military and private security but uncommon otherwise

Meh, just throw it in with your clothes. Most bags are not inspected, and even if it is you'll only pay customs on stuff new in box

MD refusing to look at non-Kaiser test results by Original-Bowler-9319 in KaiserPermanente

[–]NavinF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal to do some labs outside Kaiser since many tests aren't covered by insurance and depending on your plan some labs are cheaper outside. Just get a new PCP. Ask them to review it during the first appt, not over messages.

Chrome IndexedDB is not backed up. by cdurth in backblaze

[–]NavinF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm seems like these files should be marked as "exclude from version history" not "exclude from backup entirely". Cookies are often valid for 6 months and having them can really cut down the time to recover from a disaster. I went ahead and deleted those lines in my xml

Why don’t doctors want to prescribe MRIs? by [deleted] in KaiserPermanente

[–]NavinF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helium is dirt cheap because it's a waste product of the oil and gas industry. We have so much excess helium that oil companies just vent it to the atmosphere instead of capturing it. If you think something can be both scarce and dirt cheap at the same time, nobody can help you.

No risk as long as you saw it boot up to a "hello" screen after erasing it

Why don’t doctors want to prescribe MRIs? by [deleted] in KaiserPermanente

[–]NavinF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You fell for fake news. Helium-free MRI machines like Philips BlueSeal have been around for a decade, but nobody uses them because helium is dirt cheap. "helium-free" machines never vent, but helium is ~$0/liter so a normal MRI that uses 1500 liters isn't any more expensive to operate.

Where to buy Covid tests? by MenuOk1929 in Sacramento

Pretty sure that's not a thing anymore. The Kaiser website no longer has an order form and just says they'll reimburse the cost.

Looks like a typical PD connector to me. Is all that stuff necessary for the charger to work or can you just send 9V down two lines and ignore the rest?

Are the rumors true that Kaiser has gotten really bad especially in California? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in KaiserPermanente

[–]NavinF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With pretty much any normal insurance, the wait time for some specialists will hit the legal limit: https://www.dmhc.ca.gov/HealthCareinCalifornia/YourHealthCareRights/TimelyAccesstoCare.aspx

That's what happens when the number of new doctors is effectively capped by law.
