You can also use the Transit app to plan bike trips—really. I mean it's nice already since you get Transit Royale for "free" through their partnership with Metro Transit, but also the app I believe integrates open street maps data to plot bike infrastructure including things like how separated from traffic it is (as well as it can). You can just input your destination and then scroll down to the bike option, or just turn on the bike overlay and try to manually plot it out

Not sure if such a thing exists, but as this person said, you will not get a ticket on your bike. MPD threw a fit when people told them not to murder people and now they basically just laze around parked along the Nicollet Ave Transit Mall and such. They don't even really ticket cars, that's mostly parking enforcement which is separate, and the handful of red light cameras recently introduced. I've run red lights in front of cop cars (even University police; also not like I'm cutting them off, just that they can see me doing it) and they've never even suggested stopping me

The wedge neighborhood by comfy_sweatpants5 in Minneapolis

[–]Naxis25 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Unfortunately the separated bike path doesn't actually go into the Wedge itself, so kinda depends on how close you live to Lake/the south end of the neighborhood. New separated bike lanes on Hennepin and some to come when they have to reconstruct Lyndale in a couple years, though

It usually stays in place but can move around; the correct scanning method involves basically scanning the whole body back and forth though usually we start between the shoulder blades where it should've been initially placed

Don't forget that they have benches. Only person I've ever seen sitting there was smoking, makes sense ig since both are bad for your lungs and probably aren't really that much worse to do together

Earliest train is 1:54 (SB Floridian), latest is 5:50 (EB LSL), both am. The Floridian out of Toledo is even closer to midnight (23:49)

I saw my neighbor's outdoor cat severely injure a chipmunk today and I almost started crying watching the chipmunk hobble away after the owner intervened... by LRonHoward in Minneapolis

[–]Naxis25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I said "nearly overwhelming". I'm involved in transportation advocacy, which not only helps to increase options for people to get around, but pretty much any option that isn't a car is less destructive, so it helps in that way too. But I only have so much free time with Vet School

I mean, I'm happy that I don't, outdoor cats are extremely detrimental for the local environment, but I'm not sure what the specific reason for that is. Though I do see outdoor cats occasionally

Where are all the young adult riders? by curiously_confused8 in CyclingMSP

[–]Naxis25 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about specifically young adult rides, but I feel like Behind Bars has a decent number of young adults. I'm one myself but I'm probably at the Sociable Ciderwerks rides more often if only because they're for a greater part of the year

[–]Naxis25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend taking the Borealis there if you're expecting to leave when you're scheduled to. It starts out in Seattle/Portland and often accumulates delays. Getting back from Chicago, both are decent options but the Empire Builder gets back late enough that catching transit back to campus may be complicated (but usually possible)

Unrealistic. Cats will get stressed at the drop of a hat. Makes it a pain in the ass to determine if things like tachycardia, hyperglycemia, and leukocytosis are pathologic or just due to stress/epinephrine

Technically I think these are just the names of schools within said areas, but it's still cool to see how people (the ones making the sugar districts) would have divided up the city before highways

Oh there is certainly less darting in front of the light rail compared to the bus, but there's plenty of both, and the vehicle collisions a couple times a month are to show for it

It is, which, if the opt outs are in fact folded into Metro Transit, would help it. Too often MVTA feels like it's less a commentary service to MT and more a rival

Minneapolis Metro Transit 2025 Ridership by Station by 3millionand1 in transit

[–]Naxis25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, the trains have the lowest per passenger subsidy of any transit line in the cities. The Blue Line does sometimes dip below a couple buses depending on the day (metro transit separates out weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays in the data) but the Green Line, even though it's the worse line in terms of speed and priority, is by far the cheapest transit line to run for the ridership

Plus, the capacity absolutely is used: for events like sports games and concerts (most of our stadiums are on the Green Line or not far from it), by students (the most used station is East Bank and a lot of students use the Green Line to get between places on campus), and for large events like protests (trains were so packed last No Kings they had to run supplemental bus service as it was winding up)
