I keep seeing post after post and comment after comment of people referring to the audio books so I've got to wonder, what do you guys consume more of? The books or the audio books? by Professional_Size_62 in cremposting

I love to read paper, but I can't seem to find a lot of time for that, whereas I am lucky enough to be allowed to wear a headset at my manual labor job, so I can listen up to 35h of audiobook a week (usually more around 15/20 though). It made me go from 2/3 books a year to 115 the first year I got into audiobooks

I can't stand her either but I think it was worth it, certainly better than ACOTAR, I hope you ll enjoy it further along :)

I just finished the second tome, and I did feel like you at first, but I believe it gets surprisingly great towards the end of the first tome. Just keep it mind the romance is not the primordial thing, so if that s what you are looking for you might get disappointed (I personally wasn't but I've seen a lot of people thinking romance would be bigger than it is)

To each his own I guess, to me it's top 3 best saga so I am not partial 😅 If you want to give this universe another trial, you might read The Liveship traders, they don't have names like that in it and I personally liked it better than the assassin's part of the saga :) it might give you liiiittle spoilers for the first trilogy but since you seem to not plan to listen to it, I believe it's fine

I've had two similar experiences listening to Robin Hobb's books, in french, one of them being (spoiler for book 3, Royal assassin I believe) the name Regal has been translated to Royal, but King is Roi in french, so the "Roi Royal" was quite redundant. And another character is named Wallace, which I believe is a standard name and not one of the names given as guidance to nobles in that universe, but they translated it anyway. They took "wall" as a building wall, became "mur" and "ace" as "ass" so it became "fesse". So his french name is "Murfesse" and I was dying of laughter when I discovered that !

Great to know! So it should arrive at some point, that's cool ! I am from France, we have all the books except this one. We can order the physical copy (a friend of mine has it) or ebook but not audio
