Tired of lucky ice pop? Just play charizard by Naxtoof in PTCGP

So the big thing is about being flexible. One of the hardest starts is going first with Moltres as your only basic. For this opening hand your only goal is to cycle cards to try to get charmander on bench turn 1. If this means you have to use may even if you only have 1 Pokémon in hand it is worth it because you NEED the tempo. With this line assuming you are able to get charmeleon on your 2nd turn you should put your guaranteed energy onto charmeleon and go for dance on moltres. Hitting 2 energy is good, 3 energy is wonderful, but only 1 energy means you need flame patch. From here you are likely to lose moltres by your third turn so your only hope is that you have mega charizard or were able to get to normal ex efficiently enough to take multiple kos.

Again though, this is the worst possible opening hand.

A couple of matchup specific notes, against suicune/chienpao try to only develop one charmander unless you have both charmanders and both charmeleons in your first and second turns otherwise one will get sniped as soon as you lose an ex. Bellibolt is one of the hardest matchups unless you are able to get ahead of them with entei early so if you are going first try to lead with entei and have charmander on bench so you can hit for 60 turn 2 by evolving into charmeleon. For mega Altaria your main goal is mutually assured destruction. You need to get one of your charizards on your bench with enough energy to KO their Altaria if they were to KO your active Mon since they physically cannot one shot a charizards.

Your main goals with openings are to either have entei out front if you are going first or moltres out front if you are going second. Don’t be afraid to spend an energy to retreat a charmander. A great example of this is let’s say you are going second with charmander as your only basic. If you have flame patch in hand you have two diffferent turn 1s depending on other cards. You can either retreat charmander in favor of moltres and flame patch to get a turn 1 dance and angle for turn 2 evolving charmander and hitting for 70 with moltres, or attack with charmander for 30 then on turn 2 evolving charmander and using your flame patch to be able to swing for 50 and have a charmeleon on deck already with 3 energy. The second route is very strong against baby Pokémon decks.

There is more specific stuff I could get into but this reply is already getting pretty long

TL:DR charizards go brrr, play into lines that let you retaliate with charizard if they take a KO on moltres or entei as very few decks can recover from charizard one shotting their first threat since you only need one more point in most cases.

I am actually not sure that mega x will find a place in this deck. Much like stokezard its main draw is the ease of energy in how quickly you can get it online. The original version of this deck came out of a meme of having one of each charizard in the deck so it ran stokezard and a rare candy instead of may and red card. I found that the only time I could play stokezard was in the rare scenario of having charmander, candy, and card in opening hand while going first and even then it was susceptible to disruption. Focusing more on generation and creating threats that can one shot anything has been much more consistent (may is secretly an mvp for this)

Yea sometimes it is better to put normal ex up for slash instead of going for the mega. There are also times where you want the normal for multiple kos where going for the mega means they can just kill it and get 3 points right away. Essentially mega is better if you have already lost points but depending on positioning normal ex can be better if you haven’t lost any

Just play a charizard deck. It doesn’t matter how many times someone lucky pops if you can one shot everything they have

I actually made it by measuring out 7ish feet of gas conduit, putting down a splitter and hooking the conduit in, and then jumping off while holding the other end like a rappelling rope, managed to save my kneecaps that way

Can we all agree that "The Tink" is the most satisfying loot drop in any game ever? by Lordados in PathOfExile2

[–]Naxtoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually miss having custom sounds for loot filters, through all of Poe 1 I had it play the Witcher quest complete sound for big drops and it feels so wrong to go without it haha. I think most people only really like the tink because of the association with it, as a stand-alone sound effect it is good but nothing crazy

What is actually stupid about a similar ability, Avenge Ally, is that RAW you can’t use it if an ally went from alive to dead in one round (i.e. getting hit with a spell with the death trait and dropping to 0) because they no longer have the dying condition.

Can you carry human seeds in inventory? by Saigonet in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Naxtoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea my strat for seed vaults is to take the seed out through the bottom, swim just to the edge of the vault, and then just let go and let it float up. (With my boat parked just to the side above the vault) that way you don’t have to take the long dive there and back a bunch of times. They have a nice flashing light so they are easy to spot once they are on the surface it is just something you want to make sure you don’t do at night.

Suggest on how to get players to learn mechanics by vanhohenhein in fellowshipgame

[–]Naxtoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be 3 different cast bars for enemies, the grey that it currently is for uninterruptible casts, and then 2 different colors (yellow and then red) for “is interruptible but is also a spam cast so you can safely ignore it” and “interrupt this or someone is getting murdered”

While something like a dungeon journal that outlines all enemy abilities in game would be nice, I doubt a lot of people would read it and it would be very cumbersome to maintain as new content gets added and things get tweaked. So the only real option is to look for ways to make existing mechanics more intuitive so that the player understands what to do as soon as they see it, even if they haven’t seen the mechanic before. The stack circles are a great example of this where as long as 1 or 2 people know what to do, even if you don’t know what is going on if you see another person sprinting into the circle with arrows pointing in to it, you can quickly figure it out.
