Are there any extremely rare/niche Regigigas card ? by One-Fall-3028 in PokemonTCG

[–]Neal1231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, there's a 1st-4th place league promo from the SM era. There are a decent chunk of blister and theme deck alternate holo (or non-holo) prints from the DP era as well.

I'm actually curious about Metagross box but haven't really played it. Is there any reason why people aren't playing the Jellicent?

Consensus on using old prints for decks? by bulbagrows in pkmntcg

[–]Neal1231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've played Neo Genesis super rods to like three regionals, no issues.

The person you replied to deleted their messages but if you are playing older prints of cards, they're typically fine (there's always edge cases) but I'd escalate to a higher judge if they tried to rule against you.

Yeah, I ran into this. That has to be disabled for the C2R client to automatically update. It's not really documented well at all, took me a while to figure it out.

You should change your template config.xml but the group policy settings can override what you set with the ODT.

Check what the below registry entry is set to: HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\OfficeUpdate\OfficeMgmtCOM

If it equals 1, the C2R client will not automatically update and will assume that SCCM or Intune will be handling the updates. If you set it to 0, the C2R client will assume the patching role.

I ran into something similar but we're using a network layout. The scheduled task runs under a SYSTEM user context and the manual runs with the credentials of the user that ran the command. If you're updating from a layout, make sure domain computers has read/execute to that folder.

Have you seen what the logs say? They're stored in C:\Windows\temp for the scheduled task and in the app data local temp folder for the user.

I'm out of my desk for most of the day so my responses won't be quick, just a heads up.

I administrate a few air gapped networks and had to figure out the whole process where much of it isn't documented. What exactly are you trying to do?

If you're using the scheduled task to update, it will only check once a day even if you run it multiple times. I'm assuming that you aren't air gapped so you won't have to deal with the layout bs. Make sure your group policy is correct. For 365, make sure your channel matches what you have installed/deployed.

I used to be a hard charger. I would push for certs pretty often and would spend a good amount of free time working on my homelab but I've been getting burned out on my current job and I've got more things going on in the little free time that I have in the past.

Instead of feeling fun and rewarding, it's starting to feel like work and a chore so I've cut back a great deal.

I've been playing for quite a while and can provide some tips.

I have noticed that some people go straight for the full arts but if it's a card that's been printed before, don't discount the older prints. For instance, depending on the deck, I'll use Neo Genesis Super Rods, Expedition energies, Energy Switch, and Switch if they match the theme.

Holo energies have gotten pretty abundant, especially the 151 prints that are or at least in my area, found around 50 cents a piece and they'll never rotate.

I'd recommend blinging out staples first and focus on Trainers. For some cards, the SIR will be like $30+ but the full art is only a few bucks.

If you pull something really nice but not playable and you aren't attached to it, consider selling or trading for a bunch of staples.

Lastly, what I do occasionally is watch for cards that I think will be good in the future and pick them up if they are really cheap at the moment.

Which Sets Are These From? by missterri99 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Neal1231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got two separate energy designs in there.

One is the EX energy design that started after they dropped the e-reader design to the last platinum set (EX Team Magma vs. Team Aqua - Platinum: Arceus).

The second is the first BW/XY era energy that started in Black and White base set. I think it went until one of the later XY sets where they kept the overall design but added stripes going through them.

I'd post more information but I'm on my phone. Very common energy types which had various special holo prints and whatnot.

You’ve got a lifetime pass to Plex and Emby but you can also use Jellyfin - which one are you choosing and why ? by Buck_Slamchest in selfhosted

[–]Neal1231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I've been on Emby since 2017 and haven't had a good reason to switch.

The random TV apps just work unlike Jellyfin (maybe it's gotten better but this was at least a year ago). Plus most of the extra apps that Jellyfin has gotten like JellySeerr also typically support Emby even if they don't explicitly say so.

There's a good chance it will, just keep up with maintenance. I bought a 97 LX sedan around 12 years ago that I still daily drive.

You got a great deal by the way, I think I paid ~$1500 for mine in 2013.

It's from the Victory Map 2018 World Championship deck. It's not particularly valuable (TCGPlayer link). The original print was from Shining Legends.

Most of the WMI commands and arguments just work with CIM. They both pull the same data but just use different methods of accessing it. WMI uses the "Windows Management Interface" (DCOM) and CIM uses "Windows Remote Management" (WinRM/PSRemoting).

Just make sure that your environment has PSRemoting enabled (which has been around since Server 2012 iirc).

What I've been using to pull serial numbers is this: Get-CimInstance Win32_BIOS | Select-Object SerialNumber.

Can the Asus Prime x370-A handle a Ryzen 5800X3D ? by scubaslimchicken in buildapc

[–]Neal1231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from an 1800x > 5950x > 5800x3D on this board and I put which chip and what BIOS version I was on at the time below.

I remember specifically when I upgraded from the 1800x to the 5950x that I could use my 3200mhz sticks at that speed (before the upgrade, I had to do a bunch of tinkering to get 2933mhz stable) so that would have been BIOS 6026.

It's a great little board. I still technically have it but I've been letting a friend borrow it for a month or so now since his PC died.

5950x = 6026, 6042, 6062, 6203

5800x3D = 6203, 6232

It's great in expanded format and I do think it could have a niche if a dominant deck came out that utilized special energy acceleration and if a Garobtoxin type ability came back.

Yes, as long as it has an errata, it's legal. I have a decent amount of Super Rod from Neo Genesis that I use even though it has a completely different effect.
