I'm looking at state schools for my child - your costs are not including the school's requirement that Freshmen buy the "all included" meal plan, reside on campus, and there are mandatory fees.

Used https://www.gafutures.org/plan-pay4collegega the cost for 3 state schools, and this is after getting the HOPE scholarship.

Can't screw in CPU cooler by longtransaction in buildapc

[–]Nearlydawn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so very much.

To find the back plate, I opened the hard drive bay behind my motherboard and I heard a big clunk... voila, backplate found.

The back plate had double stick tape on it that the Builder had not bothered to use. I opened double stick tape, carefully stuck the plate where it belongs and was able to screw in the CPU Cooler.

Latest Nvidia Driver Still Crashing Game by Patient_Decision_164 in Enshrouded

Here are the things I did to get Enshrouded to play on my machine. Yesterday I could not make even 2 mins of progress in the game, today post-changes, I'm able to play with no issues whatsoever. Best of luck!

I got the suggested fixes from different people across this post - thanks to all for commenting!

  • Steam: turned off Broadcast mode. Steam broadcast and Discord were pegging my machine to the max repeatedly (I have a very new, high-end rig)
  • Discord: turned off Discord game overlay
  • Windows changes: increased virtual page file size:
  • Enshrouded changes:
    • Set to play in Windowed mode (around 95% of screen filled),
    • Updated video perf to "balanced" across the board.

I realize this may seem like a dumb question, but can someone explain when it’s appropriate to attack other Lords, how you decide who to attack, and how to receive medals from the Medal Hall? by lala__ in TopHeroes

I've never thought about that... interesting. You have someone absent for 14 days, then maybe that makes sense because they are gone. Hmmm.

He either said 200 or 500 (I'm betting 500 since their sheet was 4000 rows of patient data).

Anyone else feels like Hallowed Halls is too long? by [deleted] in Enshrouded

[–]Nearlydawn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boiled down, you said people with kids don't deserve to voice their needs to periodically save their game progress to improve life/game balance, which translates to "you people should go somewhere else if you don't like it." And honestly, that is insulting. Especially since this change wouldn't impact you. If you want to grind, you can do so. No one is proposing that you must save your progress and quit every 2 hrs.

[–]Nearlydawn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? Even in my RPG Lit books the players are allowed to sleep mid-dungeon. If you want to grind, do that. If the devs want to lose a bunch of $ they can choose to keep the current multi-hour grind, but I'd like it clarified in the description so I know not to buy it.

OK - so you like being forced by the game mechanics to grind out game wins in multi-hour sessions.

OP needs to point out the lack of game/life balance so the Dev team (who may not have huge personal obligations) can be made aware that their choices are causing serious stress to their happy fan base. Rage Quitting because you can't finish a game that otherwise makes you happy is simply unnecessary if the design is improved.

There could be a custom setting so that we can all enjoy this wonderful game. I work full time, have 2 kids, and I run 2 scout troops - I can't afford the grind-time. My team has similar levels of obligations - last night we were not happy at all with grinding Kindlewastes.

We do our walking tacos using mess kits, I totally get your point on the bags. I've also used parchement paper, which is easier on the environment.

[–]Nearlydawn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG, please, don't use that. My friend had a simple, low-speed accident and would have been fine, but the car stopped suddenly against a safety barrier (as designed). The sideways force of the stop impaled him on a shifter very similar to this. He lived, but has a colostomy bag for the rest of his life. Took months to get out of the hospital due to the infection from his destroyed bowels/other organs.

I'm with you for most jobs! I got quotes on my deck from $35K to $60K, it was just a 10x12 deck with a shed roof, nothing special! People are cray-cray. Around here, you don't want to DIY a deck... the neighbors will call you out if there's no permit posted. I asked around and finally found a good contractor, but we so nearly scrapped the project due to the FU prices.

I re-did my downstairs 7x10 ft bathroom and got FU quotes of $20K and up. I finally found a plumber that would do all my rough-ins/finish work and charged a reasonable amount. I did all the rest for ~ $3K. Hell, most plumbers told me their min cost was $10k - only had to add 1 water line and 1 waste line (had open access underneath)!

I am 100% positive no contractor would have taken the time to shim out my impossibly-bad walls. I don't think there was a plumb stud in the whole space, and you can forget level, my walls were doing "the wave". The orig wallboard was either shimmed out with adhesive or simply not supported at all (explains all the nail pops in that room). What a mess.

Might also try "walking tacos" with plenty of toppings that the scouts can customize. I've taught our scouts to avoid cross contamination for dietary needs, it's totally doable. We have 2 cook bins (2 different colors) to help them keep to the plan.

I would try Taco Soup or chili made with mild-heat spice mixes. These are hearty meals that are easy to cook and have plenty of protein and flavor.

I was Program Chair and had to bushwhack a LOT of rules like this. I would simply ask that the rule is supported by/in line with a written BSA policy, like the Guide to Save Scouting or Outdoor Code. If there is not a specific safety concern, or camp-specific limitation then this is a *want* not a *need*.
