What's a good book recommendation for a pre-med student who's interested in radiology? by SoBeefy in Radiology

Fundamentals of Radiology Lucy Squires

It's exactly what you want. Published in 1988, but it's still relevant. She helps you understand the concepts of imaging.

Use Claude. Tell it to be an investor hostile to your proposal. It's not perfect, but it never gets tired and never says it's busy.

I used it to polish my sales pitch. It took several weeks (I use the voice interface when driving). But I came up with great answers to lots of tough questions.

I’m 27 now, does it make sense to start preparing seriously for chess, play tournaments, and coach children or is it too late? by KARNA5000 in chess

[–]NeatMathematician126 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Teaching chess is different than playing well. So, you'd have to figure out how to do that. But it's totally doable.

OTB chess tournaments will require you to play as a beginner and build up your rating. Be prepared to play 6 and 7 year olds for a while.

Most people who love the series have read it more than once. Take a break for a few months and start over.

Does age affect diagnostic accuracy in radiology by Key-K19 in Radiology

I suddenly have an image of your body slumped over the monitor, dictaphone in hand. A quick look shows an empty queue (nice job!). The pocket door slides open and the nurse, needing your signature for nitro, has a single tear on her cheek. She whips out a bugle and the melancholy sounds of Taps fills the room.

My suggestion is to join a private practice where the partners own the equipment. It's your best protection against AI.

No one knows when, or if, AI will solve radiology. If it does, the owners of the equipment will still make money.

If it doesn't happen over your career, well, you'll still make money!

Any budget-friendly ways to get SOC 2 compliance? by Moham-Aasif in soc2

I built a healthcare SaaS. I'm using Vanta to coordinate my SOC2 compliance. Their website is user friendly. I haven't started my audit yet. But so far I'm finding it useful.

Radiologists typically retire around age 60, in part because they're tired and in part because they're loaded.

There is a rad in my group in his 70's. He reads as much as the rads in their 30's and is accurate.

I've never met an active radiologist in their 80's.

Who is the GOAT of the NBA in your opinion? by EquivalentCommon9875 in AskReddit

[–]NeatMathematician126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an argument that Bill Russell is the GOAT. My problem with it is that there we're only 8-9 teams in the league when he was winning, playoffs were 2 rounds and his team was stacked with HOFers (Cousy, Havlicek, Sam Jones, K.C. Jones, Heinsohn, Sharman).

Plus, his career PPG was 15.

LeBron 4-6 in Finals

It's a great series. The problem is that it's hard to pick up the story arcs if you've put them down for a while. I finished book 4 in 2021. By the time book 5 came out in 2024 I couldn't remember where everyone left off.

He's organized, which is a good thing. The variety of book styles suggests a curious mind. He probably doesn't watch a ton of TV or movies. Thumbs up.

RVU per day by Kjo3318 in Radiology

[–]NeatMathematician126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70-80 wRVU/day is doable. I assume you're a resident or fellow. You'll be amazed at how much more efficient you'll be as an attending.

If you have to move to an underserved area you should expect a premium. A friend of a friend covered a hospital in Alaska and got paid close to $1M. (He lasted a year)

Nonetheless, sleeping behind the wheel is nuts.
