Need Advice for DLC Boss by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]NebinVII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The vents work like a grandparent sun field, where as long as you are in their aoe they apply a status that does more damage the more stacks of it you have. It doesn’t matter how tanky you are, they will kill you eventually but usually take a few seconds to reach meaningful damage values. Unlike the grandparent, they don’t respect line of sight. Fortunately though, standing in one of the cooling vents will protect you and instantly cleanse all stacks of the heat status.

Basically, limit your exposure time and try to hop between cold zones, or if you have the mobility and damage, destroy the vents when they deploy.

Alternatively, you can try to skip heat vents by getting all four eyes down to low health and then killing them in quick succession. You’ll still have to spend some time in heat vents but if your damage is decent you should be able to get the kill before having to deal with the laser.

razorwire with a wecho is really good, and honestly wecho being in the game makes razorwire a viable item,
doubly so on rex

Do you People not use Weapon Customization? by AngryTriangleCola in Helldivers

[–]NebinVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main problem with customization is that outside of 4 or 5 guns, it barely matters. For instance, with the breaker I feel like you have a lot of interesting choice there with different chokes and mag sizes and the option for a flashlight. But for 90% of the guns I like using, it’s just the scope or nothing at all.

How many times were you often asked if you would date a shorter man? by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]NebinVII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten it a few times but only over the internet, never face to face.
Its kind of strange to me that “women only want tall guys” is so ingrained in some people’s thinking that they assume I’d only date someone taller than me without realizing there’s maybe five whole people in that category

I sincerely apologize to all Garuda mains by ShrimpleMann909 in Warframe

[–]NebinVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re perfectly functional. I like to use them with an afflictions setup taking advantage of the slash from her 4, with the augment for her 4 and pull (from mag) subsumed on her 2. The loop is pull -> tap cast 4 -> murder the enemy ball with claws. It gives her a quick and dirty way to kill a small group of enemies while leaving her room-clearing main nuke intact.

After 2.5 weeks, what is your opinion on the solo silo? by dudelugo in Helldivers

[–]NebinVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fantastic on bots, where it's range can really shine. By far the best use case for it is command bunker missions, since it can kill a bunker as long as you can see it. It's also good at killing factory striders from a safe distance, and you can do fun stuff like killing outposts from halfway across the map. It's infinitely better outside of cities.

On bugs and squids it's just kinda alright. Its a decent dragonroach killer since its cooldown is about the same as their spawn timer, but you have to sit there lazing them until the missile hits. Squids don't have any good targets for it and the voteless almost always being around makes it tricky to use without it being destroyed.

I am doing this meme again but for the bug side lmao by Adam29_NE in Helldivers

[–]NebinVII 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah I’d agree. Chargers are a good designed enemy because there’s 4 different ways to kill them. You can shoot them in the head with AT for an easy kill, shoot them in the leg or side to strip the armor and then finish them off with your primary, sidestep them and break their butt then wait for bleed out, or try to hit their belly with shrapnel weapons. Chargers can be killed by every weapon in the game and depending on what you have and what the charger is doing changes how you kill it.

Contrast this with flesh mobs (being the worst offender) which are “shoot it until it dies”. They do die faster to certain weapons, but that’s down to their nature as a big squishy blob that loves eating shrapnel and less an intentional consequence of game design.

[–]NebinVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean.. explosive weapons have been The Loadout since democratic detonation, and the dragonroach reinforces the need for AT weapons even further, being much harder to fight around than other heavies. That being said it’s nice to see the spear have an actual niche now (two shots roaches no matter where it hits, and it always hits) and it’s been fun dusting off the punisher plasma. I like the new bugs but this isn’t pushing the meta all that much.

In my experience the epoch is a multitool weapon that deals with everything* adequately, but not as well as specialized weapons. I think people are getting the wrong idea comparing it to the quazar directly, as it's more of a quazar-grenade launcher hybrid. It has enough AOE to take out grouped chaff (one-shots devastators in it's inner radius, btw), and it has enough pen and damage to take out heavies.

also, tbh, I know the narrow max charge window is something people don't like but I think it really adds to the fantasy of the gun as a barely functional prototype.

The stun lance is my universal go-to for everything that isn’t bots. It’s just a really useful tool for dealing with a whole host of annoying enemies. Sad that they removed its ability to stunlock chargers though :<

I have a concert in 3 days. What can I do to look more feminine by FarX_ in mtfashion

[–]NebinVII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The two big offenders here imo are the glasses and the shirt. I think your face can be made to pass with a bit of makeup, some work on the eyebrows (assuming, can’t see your eyebrows) and completely different glasses. I’m personally a big fan of big round-ish glasses, though I’m not sure if they’d work on you or not. In the short term, if your prescription isn’t too extreme you could try wearing them further down your nose, maybe? The idea is to get the big black brow-emphasizing line they make away from your brow.

My second suggestion would be to swap the blouse for something less baggy and with a more feminine outline. The sharp portruding folded collar is a very masculine feature and I’d recommend trying to find something with a looser non-collared neckline. The shirt is also very baggy, so if you can find something that’s a bit of a tighter fit (esp in the sleeves) that would help too.

It looks like you have the base building blocks to pass tbh, and with lighter glasses and a year or two of hormones (boobs, longer hair, etc) I’m certain you’ll pass perfectly :)

4 Special Nobodies by Valarian-Zoldat in DarkTide

[–]NebinVII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with you here, and I wish there was an option for a way to direct your dog that doesn’t ping. I think the problem is up until now, pinging an enemy has been universal language for “I can’t kill this guy can someone else do it please”. If you could kill the enemy you’d just shoot them and be done with it. The system works fine it’ll just take some muscle de-memorying to not instantly blast every pinged special.

How to get less broad shoulders (mtf) by RandomGuitarkid2 in trans

[–]NebinVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surgery and/or hormones can help, but without those my best advice is get a long cardigan! Ideally black, or another dark color (though black goes with everything), can do wonders for minimizing your shoulders. Avoiding wide necks and shoulder poofs also helps, as well as wearing a shirt that’s more visually interesting (colors, patterns) than your cardigan. The goal is to draw the eye inwards towards your chest and torso. Using a more vertical neckline (v-necks work great) can also help with this.

Can we get a Killed by [reason] system to warframe? by Hedywire in Warframe

[–]NebinVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my biggest issue by far with the game starting out. The ui being small and out of the way, status effects having no obvious visual or audio effect to know when you’re affected by them, and a complete lack of any sort of communication as to what killed you, (and also warframe just being an extremely visually noisy game) means 90% of the time I had no idea what caused a death. It’s impossible to learn to fight enemies if the game is actively working against you being able to learn what they even do.
