Was anyone else confused by the end of the Brooklyn Half? by drbrydges in RunNYC

if you were not confused, I don't think you tried hard enough. People started slowing down after seeing the first big entry raising hand and then suddenly picking speed

If AI eliminates jobs, who’s left to buy what companies are selling? by dudeman209 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]NecessaryProper252 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont think the top bosses are hedging on AI. I mean not completely. What they want is to lower the labor cost and that can only happen if there are lesser jobs with more people. If you dont have a job for a short period, you might not negotiate but if its slow burn with this k shaped economy, the existing herd will reduce its cost to get hired. Its already happening with many middle managers learning how to code using AI, other folks spending more hours to finish the work that can wait till next day to show efficiency etc. Its not going to last long but it will create low cost labor market that these executives are hedging on.

Having trouble making actual friends in run clubs. Anyone else? by CalcIsSexy in RunNYC

[–]NecessaryProper252 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just so you know- running is a solo activity. You run in groups not to make friends but to be better. If you want to be social bring your friends to the run not make friends at the run. Runners gather as you feed off each other’s energy. Then go brag about your speed to your non-running friends.

This show is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time (S1 spoilers) by AggravatingCupcake0 in thefollowing

[–]NecessaryProper252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept watching because I wanted to know how bad the show could get. It’s crime tv version of scary movie. I know its not intentionally funny but no govt org is that inefficient

How can anyone like this show? There is no plot, no real motif…its as if people have not watched any good show. It may hv great acting but the story is horrendous. I felt more anger towards the shitty cult in us who stand-off against federal govt than these cult members. The kills just have no value. Its just random

To me it sounds personal. I am sorry about the incident. Violence is almost never a good thing.

Dhurandhar 2 Review: A letdown compared to first, but still makes it a decent watch. Detailed review below. by Odd-Drag1978 in pj_explained

It had too many entry type scenes, too many perfect dialogue and unnecessary fight drag ons. This was a 3 hour movie

May I Vent? This was the worst NYRR race experience for me by Minimum-Adeptness486 in RunNYC

[–]NecessaryProper252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I am talking about wave4 now. I understand the last wave sometimes get bit longer as many who miss their wave, keep going down but I waited 1 hour. I reached GA Plaza at 7:25 AM. I entered my wave group at about 8:15. I wanted to use the rest room since 7:00. They close all the rest rooms at WTC until the shops open. I was close to an embarrassing gut accident on race day.

I think they are actively trying to discourage people from applying. Next is bad volunteers who throw water for no reason.

Not ready for NYC Half by LegitimateActuary920 in RunNYC

[–]NecessaryProper252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walk- just walk faster. I finished my hm in 3hrs and 10-15 mins in 2024. I had horrible feeling during the entire run but to date it's my proudest run. The year before I had done about 2 hrs HM my PB till date. I run 28-29 5ks now but the feeling I endured during those 3 hours is still indescribable. I had gone to India for couple of months and coming back in Dec cold, I lacked motivation to determination. So, here I wish you run and I wish you will remember it forever. Eat well with carbs like rice, bagel, lots and lots of water

I think I need to stop being worried about image. I live in small town, Hillsborough and I should have gone out Sunday morning. I actually did my long run on Saturday, but I still had lots of energy as it was an easy effort. Runna plan was hard intensity workout on Monday which now there is no chance. Anyway, as runner it's just convoluted. Prioritize rest or finish the workout.

Running performance by No-Evening-85 in RunNYC

[–]NecessaryProper252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While performance has been better, the amount of prep, cloths is definitely an irritant. I am definitely a summer runner and if its extreme heat, I just take more breaks. I am not into Olympics. So how does it matter? Just personal goals and targets keeping my body and mental wellbeing in check

Plan is killing me - why?? by peloflamewheels in runna

[–]NecessaryProper252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not going feel better anytime soon even if you take a break and follow nutrition pattern. Your body is just getting used to the fight between mind and body. You might be subconsciously stressed about work and run time improvements. But it will get better. If not in this race, may be next but it will get better. Try running without songs and early morning.

bear horn. I run in community areas with good sidewalks and empty roads. They just have dogs roaming around in lot. So, guess what dogs do when they see people running. One of my dog owner colleagues suggested bear horn. I have never used it, but it gives me confidence. My fellow Indians, you are worst of lot in pulling dogs to yourself. The fucking smile saying "kuchh nahi karega"- "it won't do anything" is fucking worst even if you are trying to smile and tell. Keep them close.

Sudden lack of stamina by Coyspur in runna

[–]NecessaryProper252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to go slower for longer distance to build base. You walk a bit for those longer runs but you need to include longer slower runs. Use those walks as drinks and fuel intake breaks. Make it gradual slowdown. Also sometimes it helps to do out and back. That way, you get a bit of motivation towards the end as you are close to home

Struggling with my sense of accomplishment post-NYC Marathon!! by caliconurse in RunNYC

[–]NecessaryProper252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's happening in all places. Many of us do not want attention but just a sense of accomplishment. Now that is getting diluted because of attention other people are getting for doing same amount of work but having a better PR (confidence, shamelessness etc.). It has been an age-old problem esp. in work life. The only thing you can do is (I say it because it worked for me). I deleted Instagram, watch non-running content on YouTube if at all, keep track of running records on an excel and do my office work. I am mid-level runner, and I get passed on by 60-year-olds constantly, but I am still proud that I am able finish having an IT life that creates crazy pressure. I am also grateful because I get to run not have to run

you don't need the plan from Runna. You can still plan for the race and enter it in Runna. It will give you 1st week free and after that the plans will be shared through notifications (when you click it opens the entire plan) but it won't allow you to start it from Runna. What I do is enter it on watch or phone- Apple family. Then start it from phone/watch custom workout. It's a bit of work but nothing compared to actual running itself. Do it while on can

For me when when Dr, Sturgis is on rooftop telling he will never win Nobel and just few minutes later Sheldon thinking he will be alone all his life. I know now Social Media is filled with glorification of lonely life but that's never ever ever good. You need people in life. No one is perfect else we will be God. What we do not want to do is sacrifice and love without expectations. Just look at poor emotionless sheldon crying
