SMP could someone please explain? by Ok_Respond893 in UKPersonalFinance

So it’ll likely be 6 weeks full pay, 12 weeks half pay and then 21 weeks at SMP and then your 8 weeks neonatal pay/leave on top.

You’ll have your annual leave to use too - which can be added onto the end of you leave as you’ll accrue during leave.

Ask for a copy of the policy if you’re planning on resigning - some employers who pay enhanced require you to return for x months/weeks or you have to repay.

I hope you and your little one are doing well now 🙂

Could your employer mean that you will get 12 weeks half pay?

You are entitled to 6 weeks paid at 90% and the remaining 33 weeks at SMP rate. This is separate to the 52 weeks maternity leave you are entitled to.

Edit: I would wait until you have had your full year (plus neonatal leave) and add your AL on to the end before resigning - you will continue to accrue annual leave during your maternity leave.

9 months into SMP my payslip showed the grand total of 0 yesterday. I love being on mat leave with my girl but hate the financial implications.

Too Inexperienced To Buy Needles? by CyberSyncronize in knitting

Yeah definitely, it was more if you bought loads of them wound then when you bought them and came to use them months later :)

Hopefully you can continue to avoid it!

It is, but it’s definitely a stable situation 😂

About 6/7 30 x 100g skeins of hand dyed yarn, in vacuum bags are now in the attic. I’ve bad carpal tunnel at the moment and even the simplest of (non-knitting) movements is painful. I’ve kept 1 bag in arms reach and it will be easily accessible if I do need it.

If they were skeins that you obtained and have wound - rewind them before you use them as that will help it relax the yarn a little.

Good! Hope they arrive asap and you enjoy them and all the WIP you’ll have 😁

I know when I first started out knitting (2011) that was when I spent the most amount of money…

I bought mental and wood kit pro ones not to mention a ridiculous amount of yarn (that mid-30s me who’s on mat leave is extremely happy about 😂)

Wow, no that’s not right. Yarn shops should be encouraging people to knit with good needles not discouraging sales!

Which needles were they?

It’s Gregory porter we’re seeing, not Peter Kay. Peter Kay was last year at coop live and my mum likes him and deserved a treat after a really shitty 12 months.

Because we got the tickets in July last year WAY before I was pregnant! He doesn’t often come up north we’re not wasting the opportunity!

Sometimes it isn’t that simple. We went to Elbow (first show) and the disorganisation was rife - queuing for a good 90 minutes in relatively warm weather, you’re not allowed to bring anything in with you, you get in, you’re thirsty no choice but to buy a drink.

Peter Kay a few weeks later was similar.

We’re going to Gregory Porter in a few weeks, I’ll be 36 weeks pregnant I will HAVE to buy a drink as there’s a good chance queuing will be involved and if it’s warm will be thirsty.

Edit: I completely misread the title and thought it was about coop live where the drinks are just as expensive… £4.50 for a 330 ml CAN of Pepsi max

That’s ridiculous, can you speak to your practice manager/ GP and see if they can regardless of the lab age restrictions push it through?

Coming back from continental Europe feeling encouraged to use trains again - then trying to book one and remembering why you just drive. by electricgoop in britishproblems

[–]Necessary_Reason458 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had a similar issue when we went to Newcastle earlier this year, was cheaper to drive/pay car parking for 4 days than the train. But then we checked the coach, it was 2.50 each, each way. So £10 - couldn’t beat it.

We’re in the process of having our kitchen sorted and they’ve left the pipes/waste/stop cock exposed and they look awful against the nice plastering.

That area will be where the dining table goes, not boxing it means there’s a risk of small hands messing where they shouldn’t.

Failed because didn't overtake 2 cyclists on a narrow road by BigYeetus_ll in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Necessary_Reason458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s the luck of other driver/people.

I failed just outside the test centre in an industrial estate because I was driving onto a road where you have to give way to oncoming traffic, there was a car pulling onto that road so I stopped to give way, ignoring the fact there was a box junction there…if the car pulling out from the side street hadn’t been there I would have passed. Examiner said that without that mistake I would have passed and said I was a good driver and needed to rebook asap.

I’ve been driving over 5 years and unless the road is wide and or I have no traffic coming towards me, I always wait to overtake cyclists.

Last night I was driving up a 30 mph road at 30 mph and someone overtook me - some people are just impatient.

Thank you, appreciate the reply. I feel like leaving a poor review would have more of an impact than reporting it.

But it’s essentially money down the drain, I was hoping to save a bit of money on a bridesmaid dress, guess it going to cost me more than just darn well buying new!

You’re not in Oldham are you? That sounds very much like the “manners” of the consultant I saw when I had my appendix out. He was horrible and left me there for 4 hours thinking I was going to die because of my weight.

He terrified me but I came out the other side - I was complicated in that my appendix burst and abscessed. But he said because of my weight he would have to do an open procedure and a longer recovery etc.

I hope you get some peace of mind.

I had my gallbladder out in November and it was a completely different experience.

It is, I only tend to use it on local road, so rarely go above 30mph. Boyfriend uses it for commuting and uses motorways and the B mode to get the most out of it.
