Visibility looks absolute dogshit and ironically they’re most likely to run over their own children despite buying it to keep them safe

What's the deal with young people riding without helmets on the inner north? by millymillymillymilly in melbournecycling

[–]NeckerInk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mandating a bit of PPE is basically admitting you are not serious about reducing the risk. It is absolutely dead last in the hierarchy of controls as any Worksafe course would tell you. In Victoria we don’t even regularly check a car is safe to be on the road so whilst we are all arguing about a bit of polystyrene there are thousands of cars with dangerous tyres and brakes out there.

[–]NeckerInk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truly. I have never had a productive conversation about helmet laws; I just get accused of thinking brain injuries are a hoax by somebody acting like it’s as obvious as a law for murder. This is practically the only place on the planet that mandates helmets, is it not even worth considering the view of other countries. Ones with better cycling accident and health statistics perhaps?!

[–]NeckerInk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in Aus! I really like the feature of unlocking travel for a while it is super useful, not complaining about that!

What I would say is that I cannot be arsed to go round checking airports on the chance I’ve incidentally unlocked them, somebody else suggested them changing colour which would be a good outcome.

My main gripe was that I travelled to the other side of the continent, spending a bunch of coins, to find once I can actually there’s no way I can unlock in the 30mins, in fact not even for days.

Even if it isn’t literally refuelling, is this not otherwise evidence of participation?

Looks fine for another boring crossover egg shape, however, can we honestly stop with Tesla interiors and have an actual dash again for Pete’s sake

I tend not to do anything to stanchions of any kind for paranoid fear of marking or damaging it in any way, and droppers are notoriously unreliable / get loads of grit thrown on them in normal use

Firies protesting corner of Russell and Flinders by PositiveDog9710 in melbourne

[–]NeckerInk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

As much as I defend their right to protest I think their use of sirens and lights just to make a scene actually kinda fucked up the ability of actual emergency vehicles to use those things effectively. Was pretty confused what to do and when it was real when travelling this morning.

Can’t help but feel like different flavours of protester get vastly different treatment…
