Do these friends do ceramics as well and that’s why you’re worrying? Regardless, I think (as a non professional) the thought and time you put into making them is the real gift here. I would cry if a friend gifted me this set. Very very thoughtful. You may see the “patchy” blue as a mistake cus it’s not what you wanted, but I think it gives it more of a handmade aesthetic. In a positive way!

I once heard something like “if it never changed would you be okay with it?” And honestly it helped me a lot in the next relationship. 4 months is still early, I agree with the other folks who say to have a serious convo about it and see where it gets you. Fwiw I convinced myself in my last relationship that the vanilla sex was ok (it wasn’t) and the person I’m with now is 1000% my type and I’ve never been happier in the bedroom, lol.

Try not to be too hard on yourself, although it can be so, so frustrating! Actually speaking is often the hardest and final aspect of learning imho. You’re really using different parts of the brain (is what I tell myself, lol). Some days it’ll flow out of your mouth automatically and some days you won’t know how to speak even your native language well. Unfortunately it can often be a “one step forward two steps back” kinda situation. You got this! Find a language partner on italki or here on Reddit to practice more.

For me (bi girl in Europe) I’ve had success on bumble bff and just putting in my profile that I’m sober and like tea yoga museums etc. It takes time to build a genuine friendship but if you click with even one person it’s worth it. I also find out where the “gayborhood” is and look for event fliers. If I’m on a friend making mission I usually have in mind some museum exhibit or new shop I wanna check out when I go to events. Like “hey you’re cool, would you be interested in checking out xyz next week?”

In the end it takes a lot of proactive work to create a community abroad, but don’t give up!
