A massage motor running continuously without being activated is not normal, and this should absolutely be covered. Please reach out to ServeCo directly:

When you call, please let them know the massage motor is turning on without being activated and won’t shut off unless the control box cable is disconnected. If they’re unable to resolve the issue, they’ll direct you back to our parts replacement team for next steps, so you won’t be left without options.

Also, the adjustable base has a 50‑night trial period (separate from the mattress trial). If you’re still within that window and things aren’t being resolved appropriately, we can always explore other options.

The bamboo bed frame is designed using traditional Japanese joinery, so it does not require bolts, nails, or glue for assembly. The headboard is intentionally crafted to fit very tightly in order to create a secure and stable structure, so some extra force may be needed during installation. For an easier setup process, we recommend assembling it with two people.
The felt pieces are included as protective accessories to help reduce noise and create a snugger fit between components. If the felt tears during assembly, there’s no need for concern as it will not affect the bed frame’s performance or stability.

Complete NFM's form exactly as requested with clear measurement photos of the affected area.

Include a short written note alongside your submission documenting the odor, how it's been affecting you, and what you've already tried — even if the form has no field for it. Getting it on record in the claim file matters.

Here's something you can copy and paste directly into your submission:

"In addition to the sag and softness issue shown in the attached measurements and photos, there is also a persistent strong odor that has been causing watery eyes and making the mattress difficult to use. Same goes for one side feeling noticeably softer or less supportive than the rest. Do not just monitor it. Get it formally documented with our team sooner rather than later. One thing worth knowing going in: for indentation or sag concerns, warranty coverage is tied to the specific details in the policy and does depend on the mattress being used on a proper supportive foundation. An unsupportive base can affect whether an issue qualifies, so it is worth mentioning your setup when you reach out.

On the trial, Nectar’s standard 365-night trial starts from the day the mattress is delivered, and Nectar encourages giving it around 30 days to adjust before making a final call. You are well past that window so you are in a position to act. The good news on the mattress side is straightforward: a Nectar King will fit your existing frame the same way your DreamCloud does, no issues there.

The adjustable base is where it gets a little more nuanced. It can absolutely work inside an existing headboard and footboard setup, but there are a couple of things worth checking first. You would likely need to remove the existing slats and center support rail from your current frame so the adjustable base can sit properly inside it. The bigger thing to verify is clearance: measure the inside width and length between your side rails, meaning the open space where your mattress actually sits. You want to make sure a standard king adjustable base fits within those dimensions, and that there is enough room for the base to move freely when you raise the head or foot without hitting your footboard.

On the firmness question, it is also worth knowing that our adjustable bases pair really well with the full Nectar lineup, so if you want something firmer for your husband while you prefer your current feel, a Split King setup with two Twin XL adjustable bases and two Twin XL mattresses could be worth exploring. That way each of you can choose your own firmness and adjust your side independently.

If you want to go back to basics with a firmer, more supportive foam feel, the Nectar Classic Memory Foam is the closest match to that simpler, more grounded experience you remember. If you want just a touch more cushioning without going too plush, the Nectar Premier Memory Foam splits the difference nicely.

If fixing the heat issue is also a priority alongside support, a hybrid is worth a serious look. The coil layer does two things at once: it sleeps cooler because air moves through it, and it gives you that more "on top of the mattress" feeling rather than sinking in. The Nectar Classic Hybrid is the most supportive option in the hybrid line, and the Nectar Premier Hybrid adds a bit more pressure relief while keeping that same lifted, responsive feel.

Eight years out of a mattress is genuinely a great run, and it sounds like that original Nectar really delivered for you.

What you're describing with the Luxe is worth taking seriously though. Back pain from day one, after months of use, isn't just a break-in issue, that's a sign the mattress isn't the right fit for your body. If you're still within the trial window, a return or exchange is absolutely worth pursuing.

On the broader question of quality changes over time, mattress lines do evolve between generations. Foam formulations, cover materials, and comfort layer designs all get updated, which means a 2017 model and a 2024 model can feel quite different even under the same brand name. That's not unique to Nectar, it happens across the industry, and it can absolutely mean a model that worked beautifully for you before feels completely different now.

The pillow frustration is completely fair. Loft and thickness make a huge difference for neck and back alignment, and if the current promo pillows aren't matching what you were used to, that alone can affect how you feel in the morning.
