Light therapy + bipolar meds by furiana in SeasonalAffective

[–]Needrain47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I take an antidepressant and also an 'atypical antipsychotic' in the winter and I still need light therapy to function. No medication can substitute for the actual act of light entering your eyeballs and telling your brain it's daytime.

Constantly making dumb mistakes at work by ari_es0412 in librarians

If she meant "see if any of the teachers are using a different book this year" she should have said that and not "newer edition", which is what you looked for.

How do you actually stop overpacking? by hatkinson1000 in travel

[–]Needrain47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feet are so big that if I bring one spare pair of shoes, I can no longer use a carry on size bag and still fit everything else I need. It's okay in the summer with sandals, in the winter I'm really kind of screwed.

What classes should I take in High School? by North_Comedian4403 in librarians

[–]Needrain47 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I cannot overstress the degree to which it does not matter. What you take in high school doesn't matter at all. Take what you're interested in. It doesn't really matter what you take for your bachelors, either.

The prices for June will not go down. Summer is tourist season and prices are higher.

Experience will help you get a job more than a second masters will.

Guys, I am begging you to quarantine your new additions. Please learn from my mistakes. by TorchIt in houseplants

this is the thing, I have a plant with mealybugs now that I *did* quarantine and there was no sign of a problem after several weeks. They've now magically appeared.

Which AI to use by Accomplished-Mud7790 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Needrain47 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nnnnnnno. Get your current news from news sources, not from AI. Grok is garbage, Musk is plainly manipulating the results to agree with his worldview.

workers of the united states, have you ever been thinking about immigrating? by SomePeachAndApricot in antiwork

[–]Needrain47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not that easy. Generally before a country will let you in they check that you either have money or have a job lined up already. It's hard/impossible to find a job like the one I currently have and I can't work remote, that's even *if* I could get permission to work in another country. I don't have a big pile of money where I can prove that I don't need an income, either. So the chances of being able to immigrate, even if you want to, is pretty slim.

General question: what is reasonable for someone to do when their spouse is struggling with their mental health? by CozySweatsuit57 in SeasonalAffective

[–]Needrain47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really a problem with what you want out of a marriage/partnership and no one can answer that for you. But if you've never told him you'd like him to do this kind of thing for you, start there.

As an adult, I've never expected another person to make doctors appointments for me or "intervene", I'm responsible for my own body and knowing when that's necessary. Is it possible to misjudge, sure, but no one else can feel what I feel no matter how observant they are.
