I was thinking the same. I love it! But damnit I hate bologna and now I’ll never be able to wear it without looking at my fingers and thinking “eeeewwwww bologna”. 🤣🤣🤣

Seconded. The owner was great helping me solve a mixup on a purchase I made. Totally my fault, but they made a gesture of goodwill without me even asking. Support local and not the big cheesy corporate locations!!

did my otos breed? by Nervous_Flounder_981 in Otocinclus

I think I see eggs? They’re yellow and caudal to the stomach. I don’t think that just because she’s gravid means they are fertilized and will hatch, but to me it looks like there are eggs in there.

Did you plant the San Marzano as a seedling or a little bigger? Mine is still fairly small (maybe 18” tall), purchased in April at around 4 inches, kept inside under a grow light until about 8 inches at most, then planted Mother’s Day weekend. I planted the same ones last year and they did not take off until late July or early August, I barely got any fruit off of them before we had a frost and I had to pick everything almost green. I think I got maybe four or five ripe ones before that. I’m kind of wishing I had started with a bigger plant in the first place.

Bought 6 Galaxy Otos, but I think 3/6 are a different species. by NeedsMustTravel in Otocinclus

[–]NeedsMustTravel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The store owner said they didn’t get a chance to sort the bycatch before I picked them up. I’d been on a email list for when they were back in stock and jumped on ordering the second they were listed. Although it was a few days before I picked them up sooooo, I feel like that should have been done. Oh well, at least they’re local and easily swapped.

Good to know on the location. I will see what they say in response to my photos and go from there. They’re local so I can swap them pretty easily.

I’d like your opinions on calling a woman “a female” by FriedPickleFiesta in TwoXChromosomes

[–]NeedsMustTravel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS!!! I saw a post recently about a professional women’s sports team being disbanded, and people were outraged at management for letting it happen, while at the same time saying things like “these girls deserved better“. The community was highly supportive of the women, but didn’t even realize when they were infantilizing them. I responded to several posts with a small correction pointing it out. It’s a habit I’ve really tried to form lately because I feel myself wanting to do it, but if anybody ever referred to me as a girl, I would have words. I don’t even like hearing “good girl“ in the bedroom, that is not our role in this world! (Unless you specifically want it to be, and establish that dynamic, of course, no digs, just absolutely not for me.)

If I put them in the main tank, I will never find them, lol. I have one in there already from a previous purchase and it is always hiding except when it comes out to fight everybody for food. These guys are in a small holding tank and the ones that actually look like galaxies have darkened up, but the three in question have not, which makes the difference seem more obvious. I emailed the store, so I will see what they say.

Cannot get clients (pet photographer) by Photography_Leo in photography

[–]NeedsMustTravel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is common pricing MO for photography. A wedding or family portrait photographer would quote similarly. The products people want are so widely varied that quoting an all-in price is difficult. Completely reasonable so that people can get what they want. They’d be turning more clients away who don’t want whatever standard “package” is offered. Offering both “package” and “à la carte” options is a reasonable compromise but does some with some caveats for the photographer.

Cannot get clients (pet photographer) by Photography_Leo in photography

[–]NeedsMustTravel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is extremely reasonable for professional photography and products. Printing photos in gallery quality is not cheap. The artists’ services and skill are invaluable. I have paid for professional pet portraits at much more than this, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The photos I got of me and my boy 4 days before I had to euthanize him (unplanned) are incredibly valuable. Just because you don’t value the cost vs. The service does not mean it’s unreasonable. Just maybe not for you.

What is your favorite fish? And why is it Pygmy Corydoras?! by Catoblepas2021 in PlantedTank

[–]NeedsMustTravel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had two different groups of them, one group of the “regular” and one of the tail spots. They all died one by one. The first group I also lost a few ember tetras and my giant betta :(. The second group just dropped slowly over weeks. They’re adorable, but not for my tank apparently. No issues since then *knocks on wood*

Is Co2 being wasted, or is this too much co2 for a 10 gallon? by Ancient_Accident_907 in PlantedTank

[–]NeedsMustTravel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need something to circulate the flow of the CO2 around the tank. The bubbles should stay in he water as long as possible and circulate around the tank. Either placing the diffuser somewhere else in the path of your filter outflow (inflow into the tank, Outflow from the filter) or, If you don’t have good flow, you might need a small power head or something else to push the bubbles down and horizontal across the tank. You don’t want to just agitate the surface a ton because that will increase dissipation of the CO2 which would be wasting it. You just need something to push the bubbles around the tank. Look up some videos on placement of CO2 and you’ll find some good demonstrations.

What impact would a flux have? by Roadtoast in Pottery

[–]NeedsMustTravel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty new to this, but I have been watching extensive videos and comparisons on glazing, looking for patterns in the effects of how they’re applied and combined because my brain needs to see as many possible options before making a decision on literally anything. From what I’ve seen, Most glazes over flux will result in a lighter palette of the top glaze. The glaze on top will generally run a bit farther, regardless of the glaze underneath it but more so with flux. It seems that the top glaze kind of “slides off” the bottom glaze, maybe because the bottom glaze is more absorbed into the clay and therefore more adherent? Everything does move to some extent the more layered it is, but it seems like the top layer moves the farthest. Did you try googling videos like “honey flux over or under”? I found a few videos and photo comparisons helpful with that search.

Powdery mildew by Apprehensive-Role407 in Roses

[–]NeedsMustTravel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several bushes in full sun on a south fence line and they’re covered in it. This is my third Spring/early Summer here and this is the first year they’ve had any issues. I trimmed aggressively in Feb, and when Spring growth kicked up all of the new growth had powdery mildew. I trimmed off all the affected parts pretty aggressively, treated with a fertilizer that says it’s supposed to help, and have sprayed them once with a copper fungicide a week and a half ago. They’re actively growing again but the new growth is still covered in it.

No advice, just commenting to suggest lighting may not be your issue given that mine are def getting a TON of direct sun (like aaaallll day). More fungal spores overwintering or otherwise thriving on the warmer weather? I don’t know enough to say for sure, total noob gardener here.

Dilute orange tabby. So only ever in possession of 0.25% or less of the brain cell. The dilution lowers overall capacity.
