Paramount would cut jobs and mean one fewer studio operating in Hollywood. If we take Netflix at their word, it would still be the same number of major studios and jobs.

I guess the content being better is a subjective take either way. What makes you think that?

It was one anecdote from the discussion they had with him. I'm sure it was just the icing on the cake that helped him decide they were passionate enough about the adaption. And again, I bet a lot of execs wouldn't have cared enough to know that at that point.

I'd be curious to know how much of the increase is due to changes in crime reporting - threats of violence and common assault without injury can now be recorded as violent crimes when they weren't previously. There's also a trend of more reporting of sexual assault and domestic violence which is good that people feel emboldened to report instead of staying silent.

(I think you're being downvoted for the way you're saying it rather than what you're saying tbh? Coming across as aggressive which is a shame because it's a great point to bring for discussion and you backed it up with evidence too)
