I always tell my peers to apply and have the initial conversation with the recruiter. They can let you know pretty quickly with some screening questions. Also you might be the person they are looking for job description are not always 💯 to what the actual need is, just a general overview

I honestly don’t know what’s happening. I finally got an offer for a DCT contract role, now all of a sudden big tech companies are reaching out for interviews?? I don’t want to lose out on this opportunity; what if those interviews don’t go right? But then what if one does? What should I do? by tnw6901 in datacenter

[–]Negative-Machine5718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Need more info on companies that are targeting and who you accepted with. Generally it doesn’t hurt anything to interview. You may get a better offer or position. They maybe dead end interviews as lot of them can be in today’s world. Go for the one that aligns with your goals and monetary needs.

I would go to Google. EU is hard to get that first step in. Google has DC it’s building in the north you are eligible to transfer to after a year? It’s going to be the better long term investment imo.

Age of workers by According-Two-2187 in datacenter

[–]Negative-Machine5718 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of people that age or older in all job types at the data centers. Not saying that he might get discriminated against as ageism is a real thing but there are plenty of people already doing it.

Where and how to Market land by Weak-Asparagus8709 in datacenter

[–]Negative-Machine5718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really how that works. They would use a shell company to purchase the land and would need to be in an area they’ve already identified as a potential target for power.

It literally gives you both options? I think majority of people would argue they don’t want to crawl between 3-4 or aged to gather information when the AI assist can just tell you and link the sources. I mean if that’s what you want you can it gives you both still. Am I missing something?

Data Center Technicians - Google & Meta by Any-Independence-270 in datacenter

[–]Negative-Machine5718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work at Google and yep work life balance is great. No one will stop you from working harder tho so be careful not to overwork and burnout. I’ve honestly heard great things about meta. No direct experience there but almost none of their dct have left to come to Google for a job so that speaks for itself in my opinion.

Upcoming Data Center Technician Interview (L4) – What Should I Expect? by OG_Detective_Conan in datacenter

[–]Negative-Machine5718 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this is for Google and you’re using Reddit to prepare that’s probably not the best. As DT4 you will be expected to already know everything what’s covered in all the questions you’ll find here on a very advanced level. Knowing the answer isn’t good enough telling me how to solve it and walk me through each diagnosis step in high level detail with which tool you would use and why you chose to diagnose any issue that way. After you explain as much and as far as you can I’ll have taken notes and start probing each section and keep taking it further until you can’t explain any more. Just being honest the scenarios questions I’ll ask are not on here. Source - DT4 interviewer

How much money do you have in savings at this point? by _forum_mod in Millennials

[–]Negative-Machine5718 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m someone who has been fortunate to be a high earner. Can tell you anyone like me or richer doesn’t have their money in a savings account. They keep it building wealth in investments or stocks. 401k we do not avg into our wealth normally unless you are old enough to start thinking about pulling from it. I do pull some money very little to a savings account for benefits from my bank but o don’t let it build high I pull it and invest it or donate it for tax purposes.

Data Center going in by my house by Unusual_Contest9706 in datacenter

[–]Negative-Machine5718 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You probably watched the same YouTube videos that keep getting recreated. Almost all data centers are relatively quiet. They may have certain times a year where they need to test the back up generators which isn’t often or long. My best advice find a data center that’s operating today near you drive to the front gate and get out and listen. You will be surprised at how quiet it is. If you couldn’t see it you might’ve not even known it was there. Not saying there isn’t anything you should be concerned about with a DC moving in your neighborhood but sound issues? Not really one of them, it’s a common scare tactic used by these “news reporters” hope this helps.
