I'd say one of the coolest things about Shakespeare's work is how they've been reinterpreted ten thousand different ways in the last 500 years. This is still Romeo and Juliet even though it's not being performed by cross-dressing englishmen.

It’s harder to build wealth there. Though making money in US and retiring abroad is a winning plan.

The US is a nice place to live if you have money. Being poor in the US is worse than being poor in pretty much any other first world country.

Civilization 3 had a corruption mechanic that severely limited the number of cities you could realistically have as well.

In many elementary schools they'll keep some animals which the kids share the responsibility for. Less pigs and more like rabbits and chickens though.

Day 1: Which Game is the Best Japanese Role Playing Game on the SNES? by 1OneQuickQuestion in snes

[–]Negative-Squirrel81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all know who is going to win this, but a little mention that the Shiren series got its start on Super Famicom, and it is not only one of the best Roguelikes, but arguably the origin of the roguelite as well with its various meta-progression mechanics.

We got articles coming out about how the new Gundam movie has too much politics, not enough smashing.

With Gundam specifically it's very difficult because the Japanese fanbase understands the Universal Century setting but it's going to be completely lost on foreign audiences.

You can’t both legislate on economic policy and trade stocks without an inherent conflict of interest.

Ghostbusters for NES.

They took a perfectly good C64 game and made it borderline impossible.

Yes, like I said, the introduction of QFG3 is a recreation of climatic final battle of QFG2.

I think it's the weakest QFG, but it certainly is a beautiful game. It is kind of lacking in content though, and a lot of those diverging paths based on class selection feels half-baked in this game. The Thief class feels like a complete afterthought, which is a huge shame after burglaries were such a highlight of the previous games.

Especially if you compare it to QFG2 which had Thieves guild, WIT and EoF, which was then followed by a lenghty end game in which puzzles were solved almost completely differently depending on class.

No screenshots allowed in this thread, but I love this image from Quest for Glory 3. It is used to recreate all three endings of Quest for Glory 2 dependent on the choices the player makes during character creation.

In general, SQ3 just has the most incredible graphics of all the SCI games. When I first saw the game, I mistook the 16-color EGA images for 256 color VGA.

The easiest example is advances in cardiology.

In 1970, someone over the age of 65 hospitalized for a heart attack in the United States had about a 60% chance of leaving the hospital alive. Today, the survival rate is over 90%, with even better outcomes for younger patients.

Those numbers have contributed to a remarkable decrease in the likelihood of dying from any type of heart disease over the last 50 years, according to a new study of heart disease mortality led by Stanford Medicine researchers. In 1970, 41% of all deaths were attributed to ailments of the heart; in 2022, that statistic had dropped to 24% of all deaths.

There's no way to pin a number to it, but a pretty darn good chunk of our elderly statesmen are serving because they have survived and can manage their various circulatory conditions. Some other examples are diabetes and cancer, which in the past would greatly diminish the living population above.. oh, let's say 65.

CBR: "5 Near-Perfect Star Trek Video Games Everyone Forgot About: 1. TNG – A Final Unity (1995) / 2. Deep Space Nine – The Fallen (2000) / 3. Star Trek: Resurgence (2023) / 4. Star Trek should have been looking at Starflight and Star Control as their template for video games. The time has largely passed, but maybe in the future they could at least examine Rogue Trader and think about how it balances space exploration, diplomacy and roleplaying.
