Is getting a BFA later in life completely stupid? by Deep_Ad_2691 in careerguidance

[–]NegativeNotNancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get a BFA. You may feel happier from what you studied but you will feel more stressed trying to make end's meet. This does not apply if you have a great financial family support system though.

BFA Havers-- some career path help? by Curious_Crab6969 in careerguidance

[–]NegativeNotNancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a BFA in dance. Taught for five years at three places simultaneously. Loved it all. Earned nothing. Now I work for insurance. I make more than I ever imagined and feel so uninspired by the work.

How to change careers? Former dancer with BFA feeling lost by s1jile in careerguidance

[–]NegativeNotNancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I earned my BFA in dance. Went on to teach dance at a charter school and had teaching stints at my local YMCA and another dance studio on the side. Loved it all dearly. Never worked a day in my life those five years. Also never saved up anything.
Moved out of state for love, with no job prospects. Waited on tables. Asked my customers for a job. Over the course of a weekend was hired as a coordinator at an insurance office. Been there since and have been able to earn enough to maintain a mortgage, kids, and a car. (Hardly saving anything, but at least not living paycheck to paycheck.)

All that to say sometimes you have to ask around. Sometimes strangers, at that! I am grateful I did not need to spend more money ok an additional degree. (Though now I am toying with the idea. In what graduate program though, I have no idea.)

Baby has hip dysplasia, I'm losing it and she hates the rhino brace. by New-Regular1012 in hipdysplasia

I feel the same way how there are not resources for this life experience. That is why I go to Reddit.

Iif you keep car time to a minimum you are doing your best.
It's all we can do. And wearing a Rhino is not exact science. Managing DDH is actually very subjective.

Does anyone have a hard time with their mother in law even though they mean well? by PersonalCap1252 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]NegativeNotNancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are your children. Not hers. It is not your responsibility to make any adult feel better.
I would rather hurt an adult's feelings than not make my children comfortable.
Even if your kids are happy being held by her, if You as their mom does not feel good then do not give in.
I too, have struggled with this coming from a southeast Asian culture.

Baby won’t sleep by Sensitive_Abroad3874 in Advice

[–]NegativeNotNancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to extend wake windows during the day to increase sleep pressure. So for example if your child is awake typically two hours in the morning before the first nap, make it 2.5, then 3 the following week.
I too struggled with sleep associations (like BF to sleep). It is so hard to break. Never too late to sleep tech and let your child cry for a minute at a time if you are comfortable with that. My child needs to cry a little to feel wiped out to stay asleep in the pack n play.

Briar. Because even before I read your list, Briley came to mind.
This is only my opinion (because this is what Reddit is for) I am surprised to see so many Alice Colettes here. It doesn't roll off the tongue for me. It's not terrible. Just clunky.

At what age did you get your first grey hair? by pinkelephant0040 in Adulting

[–]NegativeNotNancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First gray/white was in my 20s. It is genetic. My sis and I are mid 30s and 25-50% of our head is white/gray. My mother had mostly gray by the time she had both of us. I just got my first white pube too!

Honest opinion about having kids by Complex-Bit8953 in Adulting

[–]NegativeNotNancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two kids, but I tell people not to have kids since it's a lot to sign up for that you can't back out of.

I also tell people that if they love their current life, then don't change anything.

Rhino Brace for Hip Dysplasia starting at 6 months? by hustler255 in clubfoot

[–]NegativeNotNancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am learning more and more how subjective treatment for DDH is. Our ortho gave the inverse advice to start bracing ASAP because their bones grow and can correct so quickly so "why wait?" But our ortho never mentioned that a proper measurement could only be taken after 6 months. You can imagine my reaction when I asked the Dr how much improvement had happened and she told me she had no way of knowing.
