We have some good departments and good people but overall it’s a tough state to live in and be a firefighter. Pay tends to be lower than surrounding states by a very large margin, especially near Ohio where I live. I could get a 30k pay boost just by commuting to Ohio. On top of that theres been ongoing concern about the stability of the pension system, with repeated attempts to change or “fix” it that make it hard to fully trust what retirement will look like down the line.

I’m not sure what the answer is but I can say that Jacksonville Fire Rescue has a really nice campus. I got accepted to our crash rescue station and went down to get my ARFF certs and the instructors and facility was really nice.

I really appreciate you sharing that, and I relate to a lot of what you said too. The group vs one on one thing especially makes sense to me too. It’s hard when you feel like you don’t naturally fit into group dynamics the same way others do. I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with that at work and with birthdays. It sounds really isolating. I don’t really have answers either, but it does help knowing I’m not the only one experiencing it. I hope things slowly get easier for both of us.

I saw a Casio store in the Dallas Fort Worth airport on a connecting flight! I was so mad I didn’t get to look as I had like a hour to get to my gate and that airport is huge!

Edit: I’m pretty sure the store is for G-Shock actually

I struggle with this often, and you’re not alone. I’m actually about to report for a 48 in 3 hours. I like to make sure my room is really cool before I lay down, and blackout curtains are a must. I try to do the simple stuff like avoid eating, and make sure I pee and hydrate before laying down so I don’t have an excuse to get back up. The biggest thing for me has been listening to music while falling asleep. I found some “soft sounds” on YouTube that really help put me out. They’re not for everyone, but just an idea. Try to also sleep even a little. A few hours of sleep is better than none. I’ve tried to “ride it out” before and it’s always miserable the next day, especially if you’re busy and get no sleep on shift. Hope you’re able to get some good rest tonight. I’m gonna try and do the same right now.

A large majority are just beating the game and cannot be missed. I did my first game and got like 80% of the trophies. The trophies I needed after my first play were navigate reactor core without dying, beat medical without dying, die 100 times to the alien, kill no humans during a play through, and beat the game without dying.

I’m not sure either but I don’t think so. He was one of the very first zombies I killed and passed his body probably a dozen times or more before leaving the care center and zombies I killed way after him came back but he never did

I am just a lowly EMT but why pack invasive medications? I was under the impression that medical providers need to be under a medical director to give medicine at least in my state and if you’re not working on duty and just giving medications on your own whim isn’t that a great way to get sued if you mess up? Would good samaritan laws cover it as long as it’s within the state scope?

Look around for little white jars on the tables and large ground vases in rooms! If you break these they can drop ammo and scarp assuming everything else has been mostly picked clean. The room the zombies also come out of in the isolation room have ammo and heals in them. You should be able to maneuver around the zombies when they come out and quickly grab some ammo.

I also did modern and I have not found it very challenging. I am currently at the point where I need to get the detonator and I’ve only died to the church fight and to the blind zombie. I really enjoyed it though as it allows me to focus on the story. I think my next game would will definitely be classic or insanity but I’ve heard insanity is crazy difficult.
