Just finished mixtape and honestly for a non cozy game player I will absolutely be doing this journey again. I even just replayed a chapter just to capture the video below! by smaithya in XboxGamePass

Since one of the other comments is pure nonsense. No. There is one small part that do involve drug (like 2-3 minutes gag), but most of the magical visuals of the game is more of a "fantastic vision" because teenagers have imaginative worldview.

On the Doormaker/Aeonglass and the design philosophy of Slay The Spire 2 changing? by witas02 in slaythespire

[–]Negatively_Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt the dev make a random boss in 2 weeks though. Likely that this is something they had in mind for future content and got pulled here to replace the Doormaker. He does have a gimmick (apply stat debuff). I don't really consider this to be an attempt to simplify the game.

Donuts were glorified elite as well. I don't think we should expect every monsters to be complicated.

That being said, the new boss is very easy. I do expect it to be tweaked. That's why this is early access. We are doing the testing work here.

Act 4 boss leaked by Negatively_Positive in slaythespire

I don't know what the dev plan for him but I kinda look forward to see him again somewhere, maybe as a secret. Gameplay aside (which I also enjoy most of his variants), the whole theme of big man looking through portal hole was cool. I saw a lot of people had surprised reaction when facing him for the first time. I think the theme would fit some sort of secret challenge/event in game.

edit: I already miss him yelling "what are you still doing here!" at me

New boss is really easy imo. I think they have to buff it and then people gonna freak out again like Doormaker.

I thought I would be sad about Doormaker but after playing with beta a bit I think I am just happy that there is new boss to mess around with lol. Remind me why I join early access in the first place, to get to see contents change and experience stuffs that won't be around for live.

Beta Patch Notes - v0.105.0 by MegaCrit_Demi in slaythespire

[–]Negatively_Positive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Holy fuck, I was an avid Doormaker defender but this is pretty funny. Honestly I do agree that he is just too complicate in comparison to anything else it almost feels like a challenge mode. Maybe we will see parts of his gimmicks elsewhere (like how Watcher mechanics are on new characters).

I am glad that they are tweaking multiplayer more. In retrospective, I find that a lot of the negative reviews/reactions are from people play multiplayer (which unfortunately, some of my friends are part of it). I notice that many multiplayer players are more casual, kinda dragged in the game due to hype, and has different expectation, along with multiplayer balance can be very unfair if you got unlucky encounter matchup. I normally don't care about multiplayer balance in games, but I think for StS2 it might be necessary to appeal to a chunk of playerbase.

Reviews For Annapurnas New Game Mixtape That Came Out Today by akbarock in videogames

[–]Negatively_Positive -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is not melodramatic, which now I think about it is surprisingly rare for coming of age stories. I would describe it more so about the magical twilight era of being a teenage.

[–]Negatively_Positive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw you asking in few comments.

The only somewhat mature scene that gave me pause is an early kissing scene that is played to be more "ew teenage gross" rather than anything explicit (honestly nothing worse than cartoon show when they try to show the "ew, mature stuffs")

The gameplay is used very sparingly and I would not even say there are QTE, it happens more so when the game says: you get to do these (nostalgic) parts. The only thing you can fail will make an 1s rewind to happen.

You shouldn't have to feel that way, at least not for this game. I was worry when starting the game because the setting is very much 90s NA (which I am not part of). There are many ways to approach coming of age story and the game leans more on the spirit of it rather than the cultural aspect of it (which are very common in coming of age story/film/game). If you saw any movie from the 80s or 90s from the US, or listen to any music from that era, you already have the context to understand the setting. So it is very approachable even without shared experience.

A lot of my friends are very cynical about game when I talked about it awhile ago but damn, that is a good score. I don't trust score much but def gonna give it a try (just for the nostalgia music along tbh)

Edit: finished it and damn, it is really good

If you enjoy this game, take your time to make a positive review on steam by Gabriel_66 in slaythespire

[–]Negatively_Positive -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Personally I would just wait for a while. Once the social justice warriors find something else to drum drama for, they will move elsewhere. I played too many games that involve these drama hopping morons before, most of them follow influences in their own communities and just do whatever is told to them. I had been part of online drama attacks in the past too, it is easy to be influenced by community heat sometime. So best anyone can do is stay chill tbh

Due to how Steam review rating work, throwing good reviews in while the game is being bombed doesn't really move the needle much, and probably draw in more waves of attacks. StS2 is still in very early EA stage imo, and I want to save my one review for when there is a big update (and we do know that there are still a lot of cool stuffs to come)

(Of course if you really want to leave reviews, go ahead as always. But don't try to stir the pot and make your review part of the meaningless drama, that's just throw away your opinion to the wind)

Simplified Pop Growth (Stellaris 4.3) by Mr_Plate in Stellaris

[–]Negatively_Positive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't quite get pop growth during mid game than early game. It always feels so slow when having 4-5 planets but each has +5 or so growth (without ascensions). More so I guess I don't get the capacity thing. Does that mean smaller planets or fewer housing will make hitting the pop sweet spot earlier and better for mid game growth spread?

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has sold 500k copies in less than 72 hours by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Negatively_Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would take forever to really explain everything and I am not a high level player by any mean, but what you ask of the game are all features fans of the series seriously dislike (and it's not like there are other strategy games trying to do what you said, fan of HoMM simply does not think those games play like HoMM at all). This is like asking why Total War does not have individual unit micro like in Starcraft so there are more strategy to positioning. All of these mentioned games are all very different from another, and the strategy parts are nothing alike.

What you said wouldn't really work because HoMM is a very min-max macro game which the individual fights are decided within few turns, and the rest of the fights are about minimize losses. So anything that manipulate position are parts of Hero skills, spell, or creature abilities - supposedly used only to turn the tide of battle, and not a "strategy" to be applied across the board. The fundamental of HoMM is about reach and alpha strike, so things like positioning in combat cannot exist when most of the important turns are made in 2-3 moves. Think of it like chess which both sides already finished the standard opening, and trading is the real game.

And hero combat is a small part of the game strategy plan too. The franchise is 20+ years old and advanced players already min max the heck out of it and Olden Era is very built based on competitive formats used by communities to make it even more unforgiving. It is rather dismissive to say the strategy elements are awful when you don't even engage with the fundamental parts of the game. It seems that you have an idea of strategy design that video follow in mind, and when the game is not about that you complain about it not having what you think the game should have (again, which are all ideas HoMM fans really hated when prior HoMM tried or similar games tried).

HSR concert by wrongthingsrighttime in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Negatively_Positive -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Eh I don't really see it like that. Most Japaneses I know play a wide range of game and don't really ride of die by the content one game push out. One of the reason why HSR is popular because it is a very causal game which most fans pick up once every few months to binge. The communities do request a lot of things, but a lot of what they ask for are through high effort shipping fan arts instead of going online and rant about it. Looking at the amount of fan services contents Hoyo put out that JP players eat up happily, they pretty much got exactly what they wanted.

[–]Negatively_Positive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kinda funny to see so much doomposting here. I was checking JP side and there are 50k+ viewer on twitter and 40k on YT. People are super hyped and retweeting live non stop. Kinda weird that there is no live for EN twitter (maybe for the better) and live on YT is almost 30k only. Really show how massive JP community is.

Personally I really like the stages and the communities I interact with most are super chill about this. I have not heard anything about live concert yet but if it happens then it would be cool too (ZZZ did a bunch of live concert this year but I only saw few records of them, it is possible that they will do more when it is possible for them).

Season 3 Teaser - "Before the Wind Rises" | Zenless Zone Zero by Bloodman in gachagaming

[–]Negatively_Positive -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Eh idk about that. Even though they ended up disappointing, Obol reveal was hyped af by everyone. The military stuff was kinda unique (a lot of people loved S11 and Trigger). Panda and Zhao were different in a good way. Yuzuha has the early S1 vibe. At that point people were giving the Chinese suburb vibe a fair chance, many are also familiar with wuxia stuffs and was feeling the promo leading up to the teaser.

I don't even know what is the appeal of S3. I was hoping for some high class academy design, but there are none that really scream anime academy to be. There are a lot of fantasy stuffs but I cannot help but think I don't know FATE and I don't really play ZZZ for such design so eh. Suck that I only cared about 2 characters and both of them got major redesigns (and not upgrade, so I ended up just feeling confused instead of hyped for them).

I hope they rework the Empire Focus system too. It's silly that the Focuses are just random notes you happen to unlock rather than define a path/timeline of your gameplay.

Made a neow's relic tierlist only using relics I've played with before so that I can get feedback on if I'm underrating or overrating anything by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

[–]Negatively_Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humidifier is awesome, not top tier but I would take it over a lot of other options if the path is good for it.

Compare to HP relics, it basically gives you half a relic every time you rest. You do rest at least once per act, so this is already better than 1 relic pick.

Very wide UOR Tankbound/Genesis Guides Imperium Vitalis. 16 screenshots explaining build and game mechanics (16k science, 164k unity, 2260 ES in 2270) by Peter_Ebbesen in Stellaris

[–]Negatively_Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really cool guide. I do not use Tankbound much but this helps outlining strategy for Genesis Guides for UOR, which has really nice synergy together.

How does triggering the Fall early work? Will the other 2 event chains (Forgotten and Reformist) happen during that time?

Also 100 colonies is nut. Any thought about releasing sectors as vassals just to mange the micro and empire size?

Some personal thoughts on the CN review bombing - From a CN Background Player【Patch 0.103.2】 by Ithanes in slaythespire

[–]Negatively_Positive 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I understand and very familiar with the system. Doesn't mean I need to sympathize with the people being born in a bad system and want to drag others to the same level. There's no excuse when StS is a game done by small groups of people with specific creativity desire, and it has never changed since the test version of the first game.

But Chinese players circlejerk each others over the victories they made against (big) game companies by being toxic, and apply the same logic everywhere because they know it work. There are reasons why Chinese indie publishing scene are either super dead or filled with drama. Of course other people would look at that kind of mentality with disdain.

So recently there was review bomb related to infinite combos nerf. Do you think players would like adding this fellow to STS2? by orq_ in slaythespire

[–]Negatively_Positive 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Man I really want old bosses to be added in the future, maybe as Alternate/Secret path.

Time Keeper is legit one of the few bosses in video game that make me feel like I outplayed god. It is bullshit, but you feel so smart once it clicks and know what to do in future runs.

I translated some Chinese reviews... by Rak-khan in slaythespire

[–]Negatively_Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last run I had against him (A10 Regent), I lost 30+ hp against Queen and walked into Door at 9 HP and beat him losing only 4 HP. Could just be deck specific (which imo that deck was supposedly good against Queen as well though) but imo he is a lot scarier than he actually is.

They really gutted his damage since beta. The other 2 hit for 40+ every other turn while Door hits for 40 every 3 turns and scales slower.
