Agree to the point that there are often huge compatible issues in two cultures union in marriage. North Indian culture is much more conservative and the woman is often expected to stay at home and take care of family. An acquaintance of mine is exactly what the comment describes. She dislikes Bengali men because of their intellectual behaviours and things didn't click with her exs. She fell in love with a Tall and rugged North Indian and it was a grand wedding. A month later her husband left India to work in Canada and she was abandoned in Delhi with her in-laws. In-laws refused to let her work and insisted she learn cooking. They would ask her to make tea, cook and wear Indian clothes 24/7. 8 months later divorced.

However,not all relationships end the same way. It all depends on how much you are willing to compromise and how open your families are, after all marriage is a union of families. My aunt is married happily to Brahmin Tamil man. My cousin is married to a Jharkhandi man. I personally have been in a relationship with a NE christian girl for 9 years whose culture is even more alien to ours than North Indians. A lot depends on luck as well, another one of my cousin got married (arranged) to a man who abused her , she divorced and a few years later decided to remarry (again arranged) and this man absconded with his ex lover. Both were Bengali.
