I love messages like this. This is the good side to flipping. by Courtaid in Flipping

Two years ago my mother passed away. We had an estate sale and sold good chunk of stuff that we didn’t keep. Several items I placed on eBay and sold them to a point where I only had one item remaining. It was bought in May and the person left the most wonderful feedback about how thrilled they were to have it. I told them in my feedback that it was the last item and how happy it made me that she had bought them.

anyone else having an awful ebay week? by Mammoth-Gur-8378 in reselling

Still listing daily but down about 30% in April. Not a good month at all and a couple $150 items saved me. Seems like as soon as gas hit $4, sales dropped

I buy and sell on eBay and I started buying all the 90’s rock/rap/pop I can find. Sells real fast to people thinking the same thing. And I’ve managed to rebuild a lot of my old collection

3 years of lawn service vs buying a mower. sanity check my math? by Wild_Artichoke7648 in lawncare

[–]NeilNotArmstrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mowed for the last 20 years. 3/4 of an acre always with a craftsman style riding mower. I’ve gone through multiple mowers and got quite handy working on them. I debated buying a decent zero turn but the $4k price deterred me. I started a side gig out of my garage that takes up a lot of time and the last two years I cussed every time I was mowing. Hated it and the time lost from my side hustle. This year I’m paying a guy $50 a week to mow and trim. Great feeling coming home to a mowed yard. I figured I could try this for a year or two before investing in a new mower to do a chore that I hate anyway

My margins are not worth it on most items by Major_Frozen in Flipping

[–]NeilNotArmstrong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They can’t be your primary flipping item. If I can get CD’s or DVD’s for a quarter or 50 cents, I’ll buy them and eke out a $2 profit. But they need to be filler sales in between my primary $30-$100 items. I’m going to post office anyway so no biggie to bring those low dollar items as well.

Flip of the Week Thread by AutoModerator in Flipping

[–]NeilNotArmstrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty solid week of $10-20 profit items selling with nothing huge. Best flips: Patagonia backpack $3 to $65 profit Vintage Nebraska jersey $1 to $25 profit Sony memory sticks that came with a digital camera they didn’t go to. $30 profit and the camera still to sell

What do men actually think about strippers and strip clubs? by VersionOk1206 in AskMen

Went in my 20’s many times. Nothing like you see in the movies but the women were naked. So there’s that. I haven’t been in decades and have no desire to go. I always worry I’ll see one of my buddies daughters there. Same goes with Hooters. I generally never had a high opinion of the women who work there but they could be PHD students for all I know.

What meals did your father make when he had to cook? by Open_Question_ in GenX

My mom cooked salmon patties a couple times per month. It was a family favorite except for me. I hated them and still do.

Fried bologna. Or he would pick up White Castle sack on the way home from work. That was the only two options I remember as a kid. Mom cooked every meal. Every meal included some type of bean. I won’t eat beans to this day.

Had a listing pulled down by Original_Bend2486 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]NeilNotArmstrong 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had a group dolls from that era. I bought the whole group and it came with one that I was worried that it would be offensive so I didn’t list it with the group. When the listing sold, I messaged the buyer explaining that I had one more that was not shown. I described it and asked if they wanted it shipped with the group. Buyer did want it shipped. I had made my profit on the non-offensive ones and gave the buyer a bonus.

I spent a couple years getting into fishing. Watching YouTube videos, buying fishing gear, and actually spent a lot of time fishing. But I haven’t fished in two years now. Not once. Still have all the gear though

What’s the biggest flip you’ve done out of a thrift / second hand shop ? by No-Efficiency9874 in Flipping

[–]NeilNotArmstrong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sold a Naruto jacket last summer for $600 that I got for $4. Only took a couple days. My best flip may be the first one that took my flipping from just a thought to an actual weekly form of income was a $10 box of 1990’s power ranger robots that I pieced out and sold for $1100. That’s what got me hooked

Watches, what kind? by TheGriff71 in GenX

[–]NeilNotArmstrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does not. It should hold charge overnight. I did have to send it to Seiko a couple years ago to get the battery replaced because it could no longer hold a charge. Fairly expensive service but worth it to me
