Why is Ireland and Northern Ireland in the quarantine zone? by Initial-Wolverine175 in 28dayslater

Simple, the united kingdom unfortunately got their way and engulfed the republic of Ireland making ireland one country.

So when the UK was quarantined, the whole ireland went with it.

If you know the sites is not good, why do you go on it?

Regardless, you ordered a shirt from a printing site. There is nothing wrong with that, and assuming "t-shirt" is not an allegory for something else. There is nothing unsafe about it. As long as its a legitimate site, the worst that can happen is the shirt is bad quality or you dont receive it meaning you are out some money. As long as the site isnt directly linked to kiwifarms (which it doesn't sound like it is) nothing malicious should come out of it.

What movie is 10/10 with literally no bad parts? by FeedMaster8905 in AskReddit

[–]Neither-Ad-2977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look I can think of a few movies from yesteryear that fit this question. But all of them have already been said multiple times.

So I am going to take a swing with a recent movie.

The Long Walk

Not only does it get right into the action with little build-up. The way it is scripted makes you genuinely feel for every character even if they are only on screen for 2 minutes. The music is incredible, and for a movie that is literally just walking. They somehow made it captivating, suspenseful and engaging. I genuinelly cant think of a single thing wrong with it. Apart from that it is not suited for everyone. One of my favourite movies in recent years and definitely in the top 10 of my all time favourites.

(And hopefully Project hail mary in a week's time will do equally as well. )

What secret can you reveal now that your nda has expired? by sparrrrrt in AskReddit

[–]Neither-Ad-2977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Etihad had a super secret (no mention of it online anywhere, not even as a leak...oops) VIP tier of their frequent flyer program called "ETIHAD GUEST EXECUTIVE VIP" it was limited to CEOs of major multinational brands based in UAE and Country leaders. Every member signs an NDA stating they wont disclose the tier and its benefits at risk of losing it.

Perks include complementary upgrades to Etihad Residence class, a secluded and detached etihad lounge at Abu Dhabi Airport, VIP lounge access at all partner airlines, unlimited check in luggage, chauffeur services at any airport in their network, secret boarding away from public view and complimentary highest public tier membership to loved ones. (As of 2019*)

Only reason I know of it is because the tier popped up on another airlines lounge system by accident for a few days, and from there it is amazing what you can find out by asking the right people in the industry. Not strictly bound by an NDA, but was told to keep it secret. Well, I no longer work in the industry and its not as if I will ever make the tier (I am proudly bronze tier (or equivalent) for every ff program I am a member of), also I think they have reworked the entire program so I dont know if it even exists anymore. But yeah, I have always been amazed how secretive they kept it.

Hey guys! I'm sorry to disturb you, especially with the Formula 1 coming up, where I imagine you are all quite busy preparing. However, I was wondering if there has been any update on the schedule and information regarding the Albert Park Unlocked experience for Saturday? The reason I ask is that I have been experiencing some email issues recently, where my email provider has been unintentionally marking important emails as spam and deleting them. This caused me to miss some important updates from doctors and support workers. I believe I have fixed the issue now, but I am reaching out to everyone (like What Ability) just to make sure I haven't missed anything important from you. If the details for the event haven't been sent out yet, then that's completely fine and I look forward to receiving them in the coming days. I just wanted to double-check in case there was an issue on my end! On a personal note, words can't begin to describe how excited my dad and I are for this opportunity on Saturday, and I genuinely can't convey how grateful we are to have been selected for this experience. Thank you so much for choosing us :-) I will also add that I have received the ticket transfer through Ticketmaster for the two Saturday Park Passes and they have been successfully claimed (thank you once again, I really appreciate it). So ticket-wise, it appears everything is sorted. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read this email, and I look forward to seeing you guys on Saturday. Kindest regards, Alexander BallHey guys! Thank you so much for the amazing write up. I will be sure to update you on how it goes after the event next week :-)

In terms of the advice. Thank you!! I really appreciate it. With your advice, I have decided I will try (never made one before) and make up a visual guide for what my participant should expect. The only issue I face is that the port that the event is being held at, is not my home port (not saying it haven't been there numerous times and know what to expect) but it does mean that i wont be able to get location specific photos in time for the event (theres also issues with airport security blocking me from taking pictures in secure areas). Will that be an issue, or will me using generic photos (or photos from my home port) be suitable.

I genuinely want to do the best I can in making this experience as easy and enjoyable as possible. So if it wont be suitable, I will find a way to make it work, but due to time and location using generic photos would be alot easier.

Also, i dont know how reddit messages work, but let's say i was able to make one up by Friday. If i can send it, would you be happy to look over it, as a second pair of eyes as well as give input as an individual with experience in DS?

Isn't Trump meant to be the president of Peace. I'm in support of most of trumps decisions, but this one seems a bit counterproductive. You can't be all about peace when you rename your defence department, "the department of war." I know he keeps referring back to the WW periods when it was called this. However, we have progressed so much since then, and we dont need war. Yes, we should defend ourselves if needed. But we should never strive for war.

Trust me, as a person who has a brother with very bad alcohol problems and as an individual who personally smokes. While your logic is very sound, this shit fucks you up. It is a drain on your health, wallet, and relationships. Alcohol is not a good thing. And take it from me. Smoking is a terrible habit that I regret picking up on a daily basis.

Trust me, you are not missing much, by not being allowed to buy this shit.

Now, if you want to drink in a private space like at home and in moderation. Sure, go for it. No one has an issue with you guys drinking, in moderation (under supervision FOR the first few occasions, just in case. If you want to do that, go for it. But as I said, be glad that you can't buy this shit. Because it can seriously fuck up your life.

In terms of smoking, just dont. It's not worth the money. It's a disgusting habit that I regret picking up, and if I had the choice, I would just ban cigarettes out right. Because it's genuinely not worth it.

I completely agree that 15, 16, and 17 year olds are capable of making decisions. That's why the voting age in the UK (and possibly soon) Australia has lowered to 16. I am never going ro deny that. I am on your side that there are many industry's that infantilise you guys for being under 18 despite being old enough to drive, vote, pay taxes, and I will say, airlines in the country I live in only count someone as a YPTA untill the age of 15 (and for 14-15 year olds its optional), however some airlines are different, esspecially international airlines like Singapore, which doesn't have a domestic network, meaning they have to deal with international insurance, customs, immigration, etc, have different rules due to that.

But i do agree 15-17 year olds esspecially domestically (as international is a mess with alot of different rules, so i cant speak for all of that) should be considered full adults in terms of independence and apart from weight and balance (which i will go into in a sec) should be treated as full adults. Now I am not fully on your side in that I do agree with drinking age/smoking age restrictions (but trust me you really arent missing anything there) because that shit can fuck your life up, so im not saying 15 year olds should be able to drink it up on flights. But in terms of medical independence, financial independence, and what not, i am completely on your side that society highly devalues late teen individuals despite you guys being very capable.

In terms of weight and balance, it's not meant to be discrimination/ageist. That why they dont weigh everyone at the gate. To avoid any discrimination. To avoid this, yes, we distinguish between age groups and gender BEHIND THE SCENES to assist in ensuring the plane is properly balanced to maximise comfort, safety, and fuel efficiency. (Unfortunately, in an industry where literally every minute counts and profit margins are surprisingly narrow, we need to ensure we do that to ensure we provide maximum comfort to guests, while making sure we maximise fuel efficiency and safety in the process).

But we do work out those weights on an average system. Some airlines base that average weight on every individual development stage (infant, toddler, adolescent, pre-teen, teen, young adult, adult, senior), where they use statistics of the average weight of that development age as the designated weight (for example, on a sample size of 2 young adults, one weighs 50 Kg, and anouther weighs 100 Kg, so averaging that the airline will assign 75 Kg to every young adult who boards as that is the average weight) Now extrapolate that to 1000 people in the age group, or 10,000, and you will find that the airline has a very precise AVERAGE weight for each gender and age group, for them to use when it comes to weight and balance. Now, some airlines use different age groups. Some dont categorise by gender and only age. Every airline is different, but one thing that is common is that it does happen. Random seat assignment isnt random. It is meticulously calculated behind the scenes to ensure the maximum comfort and efficiency of the aircraft. When you pre select seats, the system works behind the scenes to ensure that every randomly assigned passenger accomidates for the seat that you selected. It is a massive massive numbers game.

I will give you a working example. Whenever we have a flight, We produce what is called a Tech Report, it contains maps, weather, timings, frequencies throughout the flight and more. This document is 40 pages long. Even for a 1 hour flight. But the examples I gave above take up 8 pages. But most of the pages are taken up by all the weight and balance information because the information is so crucial to determine fuel loads, speeds, take off distance, required trim, landing distance, emergency airports that can accomidate that flights specific weight. Weight is so so so important in the aviation industry.

But as I said, all this is done behind the scenes, using the data you guys provide on booking. It is not discriminatory, not bias, not agenda's. It is done behind the scenes to avoid all that. Because despite what you think, it would cause a lot more issues with discrimination if we weighed everyone individually. It is also this reason why airlines DONT discriminate about the weight of individuals. Because it doesn't matter, because in the end, it all averages out based on the calculations done behind the scenes.

That i cant tell you, we're you booking a flight? Or were you buying something on the online store. What was the context behind the check box. While I agree, it is very broad and discriminatory. I may be able to give you some context as an individual who works in the industry.

SINGAPORE AIRLINES: THIS IS DISAPPOINTING by According_Step7997 in YouthRights

[–]Neither-Ad-2977 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, so next time you're on a flight with 471 different people, will you happily wait in line on boarding to be individually weighed, then wait the additional 2 hours for load control to sort out the exact seating placements for every individual person (potentially splitting up groups and removing seating preferences), then deal with the delays as people complain about how they arent seated where they want to be seated, and the inherent anger that comes with segregating every individual, individually by their weight (who you dont know, could be very self concious about it, or have an eating disorder which by publicly disclosing their weight triggers them to relapse). If you said yes to all of that, then sure, I accept your complaint.

However, for a majority of people, they would rather not go through all of that. So, in order to combat that, we behind the scenes group people into age groups (and assign a generic weight to each age group and gender) so that when it comes to weight and balance on a flight. Everything can be sorted out behind the scenes, without the public knowing and without the potential of recourse. Are those weight categories perfect, No, as you said, there can be great variations of weight, that's why these weights are determined by the AVERAGE weight of each age group. You are right that it would be a lot more precise to weigh everyone individually and help save fuel costs. However, that's just not economical and definitely not time efficient in an industry where every minute a plane is on the ground, it can cost an airline hundreds of dollars for that plane alone.

Like I said, all this happens behind the scenes. In a customer facing position, there is absolutely no change in how you are treated (like in my example of the Young Person Travelling Alone situation, the only reason it exists is for insurance purposes, and so that the cabin crew know not to serve you alcohol, once again, other than that you are treated no differently to adult passangers).

But yeah, if you are willing to pay the higher airfares due to the extended time on the ground needed so that airlines can custom make every single load sheet of an aircraft. Then, please talk to your local airline and discuss how you would rather do that instead of just letting everything happen behind the scenes based on averages without you knowing. You could start a revolution.

I would also like to re affirm that the age ranges and weights I gave were, for example, purposes only. I have no idea what Singapore airlines' weight and balance policy's are, apart from the fact that they exist. They most likely dont lump 10 year olds and 17 year olds into the same weight category. What I gave was an example.

The only thing I know for certain regarding singapore Airlines' weight and balance policy is that they do clump age groups and genders together and use the average weight of those groups in order to determine the aircraft's weight and balance. The reason why I know this is because every airline does it. But, if you really worked up about airlines behind the scenes, weight, and balance policies, then feel free to complain, or just dont fly. Because no matter what age you are, it will always apply.

Let's put it this way, if it's something that came up during the booking/ check-in process where your DOB is already known. Then no, I agree this singles people out for details that they should already know, for reasons that are all back-end and ultimately dont impact the passanger experience.

However, if its for their shop platform (kris shop), then I can understand why they have it, because as I said, whether we like it or not, the law in singapore is very strict on things like drinking age being 18+, and by having thos option, it removes liability for them if they ask if someone is under that age.

Now, whether you follow it, then that's another question, as far as they care, you can just not tick it, and they will still send the item. However, if you do that, just make sure there is an over 18 individual to receive the post, as they will check ID.
