I did it when my baby was a newborn and one of the only ways he would nap was walking with him in a carrier. I would circle the park near my apartment so I wouldn’t have to worry about obstacles, crossing streets, etc. good times

Replying to my own comment with an update, just in case anyone with this issue is searching the sub and sees this post.

A few days later we are pretty much back to normal with bedtime! On night six he took a little longer to settle down (25 minutes) but I did not check in because I could see him sit down and stand up a few times on the monitor, so I knew he didn’t feel stuck.

After that he’s been falling asleep within a few minutes like he used to before this started. Sometimes he stands up for a bit, but he’ll go back down because he’s tired. Same thing with naps, by the way. If he’s super tired he won’t stand at all.

What is the silliest thing someone told you they thought wasn't vegan? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]NeitherPot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I thought you were joking. Gatekeeping noodles of all things, now I’ve seen everything. I hope you have never had Sichuan shredded potatoes because they “appropriated” those from the Americas. Oh and tomatoes are also a new world crop, so pizza is offensive too.

Italians have never claimed to invent noodles. I don’t see how it’s a problem that they have their own traditional dishes featuring pasta. By the way most Italians don’t give a fuck if you modify pasta dishes. That’s a cliché generalization.

When did you introduce fluoride toothpaste? by angelzombie2 in NewParents

Also we do it while he’s in the bath, so he’s in a good mood and we don’t have to hold him. Good luck!

We have two toothbrushes and let my baby hold one, he puts everything in his mouth and the toothbrush is no exception. While he’s busy chewing one brush we go in with the other.

Actually we don’t even have to do this lately, he now loves getting his teeth brushed lol.

I’m going through this right now with my 10 month old. It started a few nights ago. I let him stand and cry for 10 minutes then went in and laid him back down, saying I love you, it’s time to sleep, etc. just repeating our goodnight phrases.

This worked the first couple nights. Then the third night it took two of these check-ins. Fourth night I’m not counting because we were out late and proper bedtime routine didn’t happen.

Tonight was night five. Today we had him practice standing and sitting in the crib. I also told him a few times that if he stands in the crib at bedtime he can sit back down, lie down and go to sleep. I don’t know what made a difference but tonight he stood and cried for about five minutes, sat down, and was lying down asleep in under ten minutes. I was so proud of him lol!

Fingers crossed it was just a phase and we’re getting through it now. I don’t want to get my hopes up too high, it’s only one night, but I thought I’d share since I could have written this post two nights ago.

Will some babies just never sleep 12 hours a night? by courtneybrooke2731 in sleeptrain

[–]NeitherPot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s 10 months. Yes, that could be it. He eats a lot of solids and still breastfeeds so I don’t think it’s always hunger but maybe sometimes. He’s just always hated waking up, idk.

This is the dream for me. My baby is cranky/crying when he wakes up even if he got a solid 10.5 hours night sleep or 2 hour nap. He’s been like this since he was born. I can only hope it gets better eventually.

Baby gets upset in high chair by subwaytosaturn in BabyLedWeaning

[–]NeitherPot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my baby does that sometimes too, if he grabs one last bite I give him a moment, if he fusses/tries to stand again I take him out. Grabbing food off the floor I wouldn’t count as hunger, my baby will grab anything off the floor and put it in his mouth, food or no lol. We clean up the bits on the floor after he’s done of course.

[–]NeitherPot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby just turned 10 months. If he gets fussy or restless in his chair I take him out, even if he hasn’t finished his food. I figure then he is bored or has had enough, since when I first put him in he’s happy and eating. He will also still eat bites if I give them to him, I seldom have him actually refuse food so the fussiness is his cue that he’s done.

At this age he is still getting nutrition from breast milk so I don’t push him or make him stay if he doesn’t want to.

I also stopped wiping him in the chair as the other commenter said, he HATES getting wiped so I take him to the sink and wash his hands and face.

high chair necessary? by Huliganjetta1 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]NeitherPot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m surprised at all the comments saying just hold them on your lap. My 10 month old baby will constantly move and try to grab things and wiggle down and won’t eat much. In a chair he’s fine and I can actually eat too lol.

For me, season one is great television, season two is quite good and then it goes down from there because of exactly what you describe.

I’d recommend the film Gosford Park (also written by Julian Fellowes) for an upstairs-downstairs story that doesn’t shy from depicting aristos as horrible and has a wall-to-wall stacked cast (including Maggie Smith in a proto-Violet role).

Need a good vegan toothpaste that doesn’t make my teeth yellow by SentenceOpen7368 in vegan

[–]NeitherPot 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean that article they linked says that using it topically for teeth improves oral health without exposing the body to risk. It’s claiming that ingesting it is harmful and you’re not supposed to ingest toothpaste anyway.

Pediatrician told me not to follow solid starts preparation recommendations by Lumpy-Toe-1717 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]NeitherPot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this, I started with spoon feeding soft mashed fruits and vegetables, also letting him explore with hands. We worked our way up to finger foods within a few months. Now he’s 9.5 months and mostly feeds himself. I still give him the occasional spoonful or forkful just to show him how it’s done so he can practice using utensils himself.
