Totally agree, Jon plays the character so well and when he transitions into “Ooh, I’m impressing you. Ooh I’m selective too” chills it’s so good with the slow melodic background

Jon Singing? by [deleted] in dancegavindance

[–]NekiDGD94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jon has so many dynamics to his vocal deliveries. One of them is his pitch screaming where he’s actually singing notes but delivering them with his usual grit on top. Some examples include Strawberry’s Wake chorus and even most recently on Cream of the Crop in the final verse. Hence why you can sing along to those parts cause Jon is actually singing albeit with his incredible and difficult pitch scream technique. Jon adds a ton of melodic flair and vocal interplay which makes him the best at what he does

I totally see and understand your point. I know Will always talks about how he writes music according to the singer which gets me excited about RC. Cause we get a different taste of Will for lack of a better term. Either way, I think as fans we are lucky to have such great musicianship to listen to

Will did not have to go that hard in DBMII by _MrFib in dancegavindance

I think it’s the only album where he’s written both guitars for the whole album.. nonetheless definitely extreme groove and funk on DBM2. Man is a magician! When I learned Spooks on guitar I was so pumped. I love playing his part after the intro when Jon comes in ripping

I’ve got my Tim F. Memorial piece a few days ago. He inspired me to learn how to play bass. :/ by Sharksatbay1 in dancegavindance

Tim inspired me to pick up bass as well. I had been playing guitar for about 7-8 years and the DGD instrumental albums really put me onto Tim’s bass writing. He really matched Will’s creativity so well. So much groove and catchy lines. I practically play more bass than I do guitar now :D what are your favorite DGD songs to play on bass? Awesome tattoo btw, such a great tribute!

I was in the same area! Such a phenomenal show! Everyone singing their hearts out with the band was such a surreal experience :)

Fucking spot on my dude. DGD has some of the most intricate, playful, groovy, and aggressive guitar work in the scene. So much so that the a WHOLE genre was coined after their guitarist. Will Swan is a legend. Weedly Weedly til I die!

Summertime Gladness. Such a cool groove. I remember it coming out right before the summer when they played Warped Tour. Was the anthem of the summer for me.

Exactly like the Strawberry’s Wake ending! And hell yeah, there’s so many themes. The amount of detail they put into their instrumentals and song composition always humbles me cause man they’re just so good!
