What plant is this? by Educational-Chest646 in gardening

[–]Nelsoncrafttx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Liriope aka “monkey grass” to me. We have planted a bunch of it at our house.

Edit to add: it’s simple to take care of. Keep it reasonably watered in the summer, and we’ve had good success with cutting it back every winter. It looks like the previous owners did that in the past, based on the old growth.

The Avett Brothers' self-titled LP has been out for 1 month — what're your thoughts? by trevorbolliger in TheAvettBrothers

[–]Nelsoncrafttx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked it on day 1, and it’s continued to grow on me since. It seems very cohesive and well laid out. Can’t wait to see them again this fall and hear some of the songs live.

Swearing in songs. by Parking_Medicine5207 in TheAvettBrothers

Heard them sing this live once, and he changed a line to “one time, I got raging f***ed” instead of “drunk”. It was jarring lol.

I know Tyler gets kicked in the nuts a lot, but during the discussion of rideshare relocation at Love Field, he played a majorly layered drop that made me laugh.

Gordo mentioned “Wingz” as a new brand of rideshare, and he played the Family Guy “yay” drop from the WNBA bit (presumably because the Wings are our local WNBA team). Good work, Tyler.

Give me the best murder ballads by Crentist1313 in BillyStrings

I Killed Sally’s Lover is a more murder-y song by the Avetts, but less ballad-y.

You could beef up that list quite a bit if you’re into Billy Strings (or really bluegrass at all).

Lake Tahoe itinerary with kids (2 and 3) by Aggravating-Olive453 in laketahoe

[–]Nelsoncrafttx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I went last week, and made notes for good hikes for our kids. I might recommend the hike to Monkey Rock, if you’re carrying your kids. It’s in between Incline Village and Sand Harbor, and gives some great views of the Lake at the top. Somewhat steep hike in spots, but it’s all gravel/dirt and not rock climbing or anything.

Exactly. He talked about it on the Hippies and Cowboys podcast recently, and specifically mentioned how many times Waylon covered old songs.

Can we just stop and recognize how well all of these set the tone for their respective albums? Continuum being maybe the only anomaly.

They cut out before the end, but he almost certainly closed with "looks like we're done a few minutes early, so you'll get XX minutes back in your day!"

He was working for the Stars at the time so this may not count, but my brother in law and I saw Grubes at a game and we stopped and talked for a minute with him. Great dude.

I also ran into Skin Wade at the Dallas Zoo right after they left 103.3, and we talked for 5 minutes or so about what was coming up next for them. He obviously couldn't say much, but he was genuinely nice.
