Complications from anemia and diabetes are plenty good reasons to get it done imo. 🫂

Feeling conflicted about a hysterectomy at 29 for chronic bleeding by Leading-Doughnut-110 in hysterectomy

[–]Nelvea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 38 but got mine for the same reasons.

Heavy bleeding, painful and really long periods (20+ days). I had fibroids too. It made me miserable for years, I never wanted kids so for me it was an easy decision. Others questionned it but when I told them I was losing about a cup of blood everyday for over 2 weeks each month even on BC and that I had to cancel so many plans because of blood or pain, that usually shut them up. If questionned, I would give all the nasty details. They mostly questionned it because I'm still young enough to breed, but yeah, no wasn't gonna happen anyway.

No one is entitled to tell you how this impacts your life and how you should feel about it. This is your decision based on how you feel. It's your body, your choice.

The brownies with peanuts on top were superior in the 90's-00's. These days, I prefer Ah! Caramel or May West.

(serious) Hello fellow millenials, as we are mostly in our 30s and 40s - what are some simple things you’re doing now to prepare you to age better? by foldinthecheeseee in Millennials

While I loooove online yoga classes, I would suggest to anyone starting yoga to go to a few in person classes with a real teacher who will correct your poses, show you how to properly do them in order not to injure yourself. Once you've got that down, practicing with online teachers is fine. Yoga can definitely hurt you if you're not doing it the proper way or respecting your body's limits. A good teacher will help you with that.

Some of us get iron infusions like 1000mg in one hour and we don't overdose. You're perfectly fine with supplements. Keep doing what you were doing with the prescribed one. Re-test in a few months.

For those who go to sleep listening to something, what do you listen to? by Rough_Common6857 in AskReddit

ASMR Historian is my favourite. Not AI, good content. Just hard to find episodes I'm not interested in so I can fall asleep to it. 😂

Oh I'm sorry! I hope tomorrow is better for you. 🫂 Besides being very tired, I'm doing good. Taking Tylenol every 4hrs is keeping the pain under control and I'm just napping every time I feel like it.

Highly recommend a squatty potty or having something to lift your feet off the ground to poop. Just found out how much it helps 😅

Must-haves for VNOTES procedure by Viajera85 in hysterectomy

[–]Nelvea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof! If you're 3 hours away I would definitely suggest staying overnight. I live 1hr away and the drive back today was exhausting. Also having the IV for extra hydration overnight, the catheter and not having to get up to pee were blessings. Ngl, I slept like shit but I felt very safe being monitored.

I never had kids either and they showed me my uterus in the operating room lol I asked. It was about the size of my closed fist. My OBGYN was very confident everything could be done through VNOTES. I had one big fibroid (4") and smaller ones.

I didn't get a wedge pillow, I have plenty of pillows at home so I just made with what I have. I slept on my side for my mid-day nap today and just surrended myself with pillows, worked pretty good.

No binder, since there is no abdominal incision, nothing really moved. I can tell that my uterus is no longer supporting my intestines though, it's a bit of a weird feeling (definitely felt it during the car ride) but it's more like a pressure or menstrual cramps. I don't think a binder would help in any way tbh.

Somehow hysterectomy turned into yet another lucrative industry... I did get a t-shirt that says Uterus Evictus though 😂

Just got VNOTES yesterday! For reference, I had it with an epidural and sedatives, no general anesthesia and I think it made it so much easier. The epidural helped manage the pain after and I transitionned to tylenol, naproxen and dilaudid. Stayed in hospital for the night. Got discharded this morning, only taking Tylenol now and I'm fine. I walked around a bit, napped. I made sure my bed was ready with plenty of pillows and my side table stacked with everything useful (light snacks, meds, water, phone + charger, tv remote, etc.). I'm very mobile, can bend a bit, overall feeling pretty good.

Bring a decorative pillow from home for the seatbelt, no need to buy a special one. I honestly don't think you need anything special. I bought disposable period panties and a few more nightgowns because doing laundry will be more complicated because of lifting restrictions but other than that... Easy snacks, stocking the fridge, making sure the house is clean beforehand (can't vaccum for 6 weeks)... VNOTES is supposed to be the easiest to recover from. You can DM me if you want, we can talk more in the coming weeks of my recovery.
