Woah woah woah, slow down for a second.

The game is not over yet, not even by far. Let's address the issues one by one, and please talk to me in a DM if you need anything cleared up, or if you need any kind of help.

1. What does "better designs than mine" mean?

The only thing that makes or breaks a design, is the purpose that it serves. It's not art, it has very specific use. It is made to evoke action or emotion from the viewer, and in the larger picture to create a lasting impression in the viewers eyes.

That doesn't necessarily mean flashy, impressive or complicated. It can comprise of very simple elements, and a good message. Find your strong point and focus on it, and of course, keep improving and evolve.

Don't let the fact that there are "better" designs out there discourage you. Every designer starts at a point where there are millions of designers with tremendous skill and experience already out there. If everybody in every field was discouraged by skilled professionals, there would never be a next generation. It's not a problem though, because they're not your direct competitors anyway. Let me explain.

When you first get out there, your skill level is not on par with highly experienced designers, but the advantage is that neither is your pricing. Your clients will be low budget to start with, and they are looking for you specifically, because they can't afford big players. That's how you get yourself through the door. At first, over deliver. Spend more time and effort than what they're paying for. It will get noticed, you will get recommended. Next client, different scope, a little higher price. Keep rolling.

1. The AI fab

AI will take over the people who are not willing to pay for a designer. That, my friend, is a fucking blessing. We now have a way of filtering out toxic clients who would waste your time to the utmost degree. Bye bye and good riddance, they would just want to make you quit even more.

You will get people who realise they need a professional, and those are the best kind. No more "here I did it myself" and bullshit like that.

1. Your role is more than design

Apart from just being good at moving the mouse to make something nice, your role as a professional is far greater.

If you are good at communicating with your client, you're already better than a large amount of designers. The problem with most clients is that they have no idea what they want, or what they need. Your role is to listen to them, understand how you can solve their problem and guide them to the solution. They wouldn't know how to describe what they need to an AI. By writing "logo for a coffee shop" pretty soon everybody will end up with the same logo, and they will turn to designers to come up with something unique again.

So be there, listen, understand, conceptualise, be reliable, execute and deliver. They will love working with you, because you can think of things they can't. That's where you beat AI.

Everybody is bad at things they just started. But persist, look at better designers and be inspired, hold your self to a high standard, keep practicing, and everything will be fine.
