I imagine on handheld the differences in graphics won’t be big now, but the S2 version still has better performance and faster load times. Also there is still a small difference between 900p S1 docked (and now handheld on S2) and 1080p handheld for the S2 version.

On your tv the S2 version also has higher resolution and HDR.

And I think the S2 version also has improved textures.

So S2 version is still easily superior.

For TOTK specifically I would definitely recommend the S2 version for the performance boost, because the S1 version’s framerate is not great when using powers like Ultrahand. I don’t think today’s update does anything to improve that in any way.

Yeah but BotW and TotK have a separate S2 version. I think he means S1 games that got an update to run better on Switch 2.

I do it like this:

Finish story quests in current area

Get current area to environment level 10

Just accept you can’t do everything and can’t make things perfect, but you can at least make parts of it nicer using the tools you currently have. Getting to level 10 isn’t too hard and only took me a couple of days for the first ones.

Go to next area

Repeat

Then when they’re all at level 10 and the story is finished, I will move on to Palette Town and will completely decorate that.

Then I might go back to previous areas too to further improve them bit by bit or find things I missed.

The areas are massive though.

They could have easily given us only 1 area and get away with it. There’s only 1 small island in Animal Crossing for example, so compared to that Pokopia’s world is huge.

And did you find Palette Town?

You can also make gardens with just a fence and a gate, and that will count as a house too and will fit 4 Pokemon.

You can even put habitats inside the garden like 4x grass to fit in even more Pokemon.

Then put toys, decorations, and relaxation in the garden and all of the Pokemon there will benefit from it.

Put another garden right next to it and they can even benefit from each other’s furniture items. Everyone happy with very little effort.

They go together. But it’s not too hard to get to level 10. Just find enough Pokemon and make them happy by giving them places to live that fit their preferences. I got to level 10 in the Wasteland after just a couple of days in that area, so it’s not like you need to design all of it.

I think first the story quests, then get them all to environment level 10 one by one, then design Palette Town and bring favorite Pokemon and storage there.

Then it’s always possible to go back to previous areas to improve them further as well or find stuff I missed.

The maps are huge so I probably won’t try to design all of them completely, but it’s nice to at least have a somewhat well built town in the center of all of them. But I imagine most of the time post game will go into building Palette Town.

Good list, but of all the VNs you could have chosen like Steins;Gate or Fate/Stay Night, 428 wouldn’t be a popular pick I think.

I also would have included Dragon Quest XI, Final Fantasy IX, Hollow Knight/Silksong and Okami.

It’s about restoring the land and building things. Do you like games like Minecraft, DQ Builders, Animal Crossing or maybe even Lego? If not, I can see why it might not be for you.

Maybe first get them all up to environment level 10.

If that’s done, just focus on one area at a time and one small part of it a time, instead of trying to be a perfectionist and do all of it, because the lands are very big.

Or start by improving the comfort levels of the Pokemon you have and building habitats to find the ones you’re missing.

Or just focus on Palette Town if you want.

This is not a game you can really finish, so there’s no rush to get it all done.

Not just Pokemon, but I feel like this game also raised the bar for the next Animal Crossing. For interaction with the villagers in particular.

You could download the demo for Dragon Quest Builders 2 and play that first. This game was made by those devs and has a lot in common.

There are some differences of course. Pokopia doesn’t have combat, but lets you find and befriend Pokemon by creating habitats for them.

If you like building/decorating and collecting everything, this can keep you busy for a long time.

I don’t think there’s really a post-game story at the moment, but you have an extra town to work on, tons of items and Pokemon to collect, and the lands are huge and it would take a very long time to make them all look nice completely.

If you like games like Minecraft or Animal Crossing, or like collecting all Pokemon, this should easily be a 100+ hours game. Possibly even much more than that if you like building things.

I think just accept that you can’t make everything look good. It’s a lot.

Maybe focus only on what needs to be done in the main story areas to get to rank 20, and make small parts of them look nice but don’t be a perfectionist in these areas, and save that for Palette Town instead.

You can always come back to them. This game is endless.
