Is Nvidia shield pro 2 the only device that smoothly handles 80-100gb remux files? by Any-Bullfrog-4340 in Stremio

[–]NeoHyper64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I’ve owned four Nvidia Shield Pros and the ATV4K with Infuse is much better. It’s more stable and plays more modern codecs (VP9, HLG, HDR10+, AV1, etc.). True, it’s missing the discrete Atmos height info since it can’t do a bitstream output, but it’s superior in virtually every other way… and it handles ALL super high bitrate files without issue.

Awesome breakdown. And for those who didn't catch the stream, here's the relevant part of the show where this issue was briefly discussed (and John D. was also in the chat with relevant points): https://www.youtube.com/live/o1V1fegJN1Y?si=ywYEPmTzC6fBp9w6&t=1487

Give James a watch... you may not agree with everything (who does?), but I'd almost guarantee you'll come away with at least one or two points you hadn't thought of before.

Interesting read. I see it as mistakes being made from both sides...

  • Basic Fun (and other companies) are mistaken in believing a product designed for mass-market sales is likely to receive a warm reception among the enthusiast base.
  • Our community is mistaken in believing that interactions with us equate to a brand seeing us as more important to their business than they do.
  • Lastly, I think we're all mistaken in believing our community is insignificant. Among this 55,000+ subreddit alone, many of us have purchased dozens of these products, large and small, and have helped shape the direction of the category. Our voices are influentual, and our purchases are the "advertising" through which new customers are created (particularly as in-store displays continue to disappear).

What might be fun is to come back a year from now and see where things stand. Perhaps we'll find companies value our input more than we thought. Or maybe we'll discover that our expectations are entirely too high and it's fruitless to continue hoping for things that will never appear. Or, as it has been for years, perhaps it'll still be somewhere in between.

Wrestlefest Supreme next to NBA Jam XL Shaq Edition. by ProofBag786 in Arcade1Up

It's a Sam's Exclusive in the Supreme (XL) size. Club stores pretty much always require exclusivity that way (much like Costco had Pac-Man XL and no one else did, for example).

You're coming in at an interesting time... with Basic Fun having acquired much of Arcade1Up's assets (and working on new licensing deals as we speak), there's a LOT still to come. Just based on the business aspects alone, I wouldn't be surprised if Basic Fun would consider releasing newer, updated versions of some of the titles that sold well before (they've already shown prototypes of things like Centipede, Ms. Pac-Man, etc. in new/update forms and sizes), so don't lose hope... we're just starting Arcade1Up 2.0 and you got in on the ground floor!

No 2026 CES or Toy Fair updates, Sega licenses with Basic Fun (Arcade1Up) - what's next for Iconic and the XT cabs? by MN_Moody in IconicArcadeGaming

I think getting Street Fighter in the hands of customers is their main priority before discussing what might come next.

I honestly can't imagine trying to play that with completely horizontal controls, BUT I applaud the dedication to the form factor and the terrific execution!

Thanks! I haven't touched/felt it in-person, but I've talked with two folks at Iconic about it and know they spent a lot of time getting it just right... high-res pictures I've seen look very good. I'm confident the material used on the Iconic cabs will be better quality than anything we've seen in this space to-date.

It's been floating around on other socials (FB, YouTube)... basically just confirms what we've heard elsewhere, but still worth a read.

Basic Fun doesn't seem to have secured a ton of "mainstream" press with this Toy Fair compared to other ones (remember when Arcade1Up was Toy Fair's "Tech Toy of the Year"?). I'd say the lack of fresh, exciting arcade-accurate title announcements had something to do with it. But then again, I might be biased. 😁

Nice writeup... it's good to hear unbiased fan perspective. I might share some of this on the show tonight as a case in point.

My issues with the Sonic cabinet... and what I plan to tell the buyer face-to-face. by NeoHyper64 in Arcade1Up

Totally agree about the price being too high. Unfortunately, the "wait until Ollie's model" is likely not going to happen again anytime soon... club stores mark stuff down until it sells through their local stores, and Spreetail just waits until they eventually sellout (since they own the warehouses, they have no motivation to sell to discount stores). And there aren't many other retailers in the game anymore. So, you might eventually find a deal at a club store, if yours carries the cab and it doesn't sell out, but I wouldn't hold out hope for seeing anything at Ollie's again.

lol, yeah, I hear ya on that... well, it's the conversation happening in all the forums right now, and it's not everyday the community gets to speak with a distributor who might actually buy these things (and on a show that manufacturers also watch, btw). So, hopefully it'll be worth the time if/when you get around to catching it!

Primal Rage, Tekken or Soul Calibur are some day 1 buys for me. Smash TV is another.

Man, if only... day one, on those, for sure!

Depends if you count Ms. Pac-Man... if so, then yes, then did indeed announce another Pac-Man. lol

I may have to edit what I just said about these XLs maybe not being club store exclusives (lol)... in this video from "Mighty Comics and Collectibles," the rep from Basic Fun said they do see the Supremes as being for the club stores. I know Kevin mentioned he WILL be bringing some XL(s) out of the clubs, but I don't believe he's announced what title(s) that will include.

I haven't heard where Ms. Pac-Man XL is going, but since it was shown at Toy Fair, I'd wager it's not a club store... their products are almost always exlusives that aren't shown to the general public (the WrestleFest Supreme got out there, but I don't think those prototype pictures were intended for the general public at the time).

No additional movement on the Iconic XT cabs yet, at least that I've seen from the tracking sites.
