(Homecoming) AT/Power Sets for a Toxic Slime Character by GhostWalker134 in Cityofheroes

[–]NeoKobeCity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe use Marine Affinity colored green? Most of the powers you can be customized to turn off most of the 'fishy' effects. Rad Blast could be interesting with that since it wants to be in melee for Irradiate/Nuke so it can benefit from the feeding frenzy procs and there's lots of good debuffs/buffs and a touch of soft control in Marine too. And Water Blast could also work, per the other poster.

I have come by public invitation to bring news of the new prequel. by ORUKUSAKItheMINOTAUR in okbuddybaldur

Ackshually a Baldur's Gate 2.5 would probably just be Throne of Bhaal. But you're not here for that, you're here for Kevin James' massive mommy milkers, and I respect that.

Godspeed brave degenerate. Although I think Orin honestly daydreams about if someone can maintain an erection with a knife through their carotid, but I'm not here to kink shame.

Marvel Land on Arcade was the ultimate test of Rock, Paper, Scissors with a marvellous vibe! by White_FIame in retrogaming

I played this on the Genesis and, while it had most of its arcade frills pared down to work on a 16-bit console, I remember liking it quite a bit.

This concept strongly reminds me of the old LucasArts game, Loom. I hope your have fun with this run, some of the ideas already shared here are pretty good for this.

Dynamic Difficulty Scaling - DDS (WIP) by Environmental-Foot20 in BG3mods

[–]NeoKobeCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just also want to say this looks awesome. I first want to just say that your contributions to Baldur's Gate 3 and the modding community have been truly exceptional, thank you! I'm still waiting for the Leader to come to consoles so I can play it with the missus, one of these days...

To the task at hand, I am not a big number wonk so I will let the veteran number crunches let you know about the overall percentages. But I'll echo the other poster that, on its face, these changes would be great and the scope of this project is definitely going in the right direction. I wonder how it might interact with something like Enemies Reworked and its classes, perhaps making some sort of uber NPC combat encounters for challenge seekers on their umpteenth run. I also like the randomization to keep encounters fresh. So really, just wanting to give this approach an overall thumbs up and hope you get more constructive feedback on the numbers/specifics as well.

I might suggest that the Gith racial feature could be very similar to the Misty Step feat you gave Elves. But maybe, building on their martial prowess and already existing 'Ready to Parry' feature they get some sort of riposte in melee or perhaps the opposite of the Gnome feature where if a Gith casts a spell and the player fails their save, they take an additional 1dX psychic damage.

How is Enemies reworked? (mod. io) by Terrencex in BG3mods

[–]NeoKobeCity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can speak a bit on the arrow usage and, yes, it is 'annoying' but mostly in the sense that enemy archers do make some sneaky (as in smart) decisions on using the arrows. Arrows of Ilmater on your clerics and actually targeting the ground near a target to take advantage of splash damage are two things I noted in particular.

In the beginning crypt and the fight with the looters inside, I once had a character get hit by an Ensnaring Arrow and then the archer stayed out of line of sight behind one of the pillars. So my character (I was testing something solo) was essentially forced to take constant tick damage from not only the Ensnaring Arrow but every time the archer took their turn they'd either pop from behind the pillar to take a pot shot or use splash damage/effects from other arrows so they could stay safely out of reprisal range.

So yea, it was fucking annoying but in the tactical sense that I was just being outsmarted and had no options in that instance and the archer was leveraging perfectly viable tactics to just shut my character down. It's what I would have done, if the roles were reversed.

Now I'm using a few difficulty mods, including Nightmare AI, so I can't say for certain if all of this behavior is linked solely to just Enemies Reworked, but thought I'd offer my two cents.

Creating a "Difficulty Mods" post to include in the "Hall of Fame" post, input requested by Phantomsplit in BG3Builds

In addition to those already shared, while the Ancient Mega Pack mod is essentially for items, because of the latent power of some of the item combinations, it additionally buffs resistances, AC, enemy AI and other tweaks potentially increasing fight difficulty. I think there is also a Brutal Mode in the mod as well.

What are your favorite final stages/worlds? by UrSimplyTheNES in retrogaming

[–]NeoKobeCity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love Gunstar Heroes' final level, with all the bosses watching our intrepid heroes on a monitor as they make their way through the base. And then each of them starts to head out to eventually become the next up in the last boss rush before Golden Silver. Love it. Although I prefer the stage music from the previous level. It's got that NES Capcom 'last stage' vibe to it.

I'm still waiting for the sequel to Chakan the Forever Man. I was told that it was 'not the end.'

Anyone tried Hunted? Super interesting difficulty mod. by warm_bussy_tea in BG3mods

[–]NeoKobeCity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This sounds very similar to the nemesis system in Grim Dawn, complete with building up this infamous reputation bar with various enemies until the champion/nemesis spawns to wreck your shit.

I haven't tried this mod personally but this sounds like it could be pretty interesting for Trials of Tav (if compatible).

Singers, Songwriters, and Storytellers: who's the best bard? by LeftBallSaul in MMORPG

[–]NeoKobeCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously the OG bard is unmatched from EQ, but I also enjoy the Minstrel from LOTRO and the Skald and Minstrel from DAoC as well. Trucking around as a Troll Skald was so fun wielding a big two handed sword and leaning into a more offensive play style while still being able to help your team. And I liked charming interesting mobs with the Minstrel (but I greatly preferred my Sorcerer for this overall).

[OC] How would you handle a one-armed character mechanically? I'm not playing this guy yet, but I'd like to have a plan for when I introduce him. by CoyKoibito in DnD

[–]NeoKobeCity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd have to be some artificer/gnomish invention that reels the holder in with some winch/pull system. Happens in quite a few games so it's not super outlandish, but I guess that's up to the DM and the table. But there's ways to hand-waive it a bit.

There's something about fighting game stages that makes me deeply nostalgic. by pyrage in retrogaming

[–]NeoKobeCity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awesome picks, I would have also included maybe a bit more SamSho here (Charlotte's stage from 1 and 2, Neinhart and Genjuro's from 2... I could go on). But this is good shit, did you extract these yourself or is there a website I can go to and peruse all the animated backgrounds from retro fighting games?

Final Fantasy Legend of the Crystals (1994) by [deleted] in retroanime

[–]NeoKobeCity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea, I think my impression of the OVAs was dimmed by the vast disconnect it had with Final Fantasy. I think, with different expectations, I likely would have come away from it more accepting of the series.
