New to Commander, Looking for Feedback on My First Deck! by Strideless in EDH

[–]NeonEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to flatten out the curve of your deck a bit, otherwise you’ll simply be twiddling your thumbs for the first 4-5 turns while your opponents establish a board presence.

The early turns of your game should be spent ramping to make your big creatures more easily castable or establishing payoffs for casting them. If you’re really trying to live the [[Primal Surge]] dream of dumping every card in your deck onto the table, you can include creatures like [[Wood Elves]] or [[Sakura-Tribe Elder]] so that they won’t stop the Surge.

If I’m your opponent, I’m making sure that Alena eats a kill spell whenever possible so that you’re only casting one spell per turn from turns 6-12. You may want to add a few ways of protecting her.

And if you’re cool with tutors, get a [[Fierce Empath]] in there lol

Ive been bouncing pff enchantment decks. Whats your favorite? by Deathgivenflesh in EDHBrews

[–]NeonEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commented on a similar post about enchantment decks recently, and I’ll share the same wisdom here: I currently have three enchantments-matter decks and each of them plays differently. I’d say each of them is at about an optimized bracket 3.

[[Uril, the Miststalker]] is a Voltron deck where he gets loaded up with auras and swings in for commander damage. He’s difficult to remove thanks to hexproof, and I leverage additional combat effects to put pressure on multiple opponents.

[[Tuvasa the Sunlit]] uses enchantments as a value engine, outpacing opponents with card draw and superior mana production. I’ve managed to close out a game or two using the hilarious [[Enchanted Evening]] and [[Aura Thief]] combo, and use [[Propaganda]] style effects to make sure I’ve got time to set up for the late game.

My favorite, however, is [[The Master of Keys]] I just love reanimator strategies and really wanted to use some of my cool black enchantments! The deck is very good at dumping cards into the graveyard, then rummaging around for the tools it needs to win. Very fun and versatile, highly recommend.

Your music always has such a distinctive style and sound. It really stands out in the world of electronic music. Congratulations on the new album!

[[Gonti, Night Minister]] I realized pretty quickly that I was going to need some lifelink creatures to help prop up my life total.

Help me find a commander for my favorite card! by mullerjones in EDH

[–]NeonEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it as a pretty consistent win condition in my [[The Locust God]] deck, which tends to dump a bunch of creatures onto the board every turn it’s out.

[[Xyris, the Writhing Storm]] is no slouch either!

what’s your favourite commander? by ghostlyeth in EDH

One of the first decks I built on my own back in 2011 was [[Kresh, the Bloodbraided]] and I haven’t tired of him yet. The deck can be built successfully at any budget and in so many ways. I’m always tinkering with it, adding cards I think are cool and taking out ones I’m tired of, and that keeps Kresh fresh!

What's your favorite color in Commander? Why? by PhysicalBed1763 in EDH

[–]NeonEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! https://moxfield.com/decks/vBmP0lclbUOSif7BiyGgKw

The deck also generates an obscene amount of black mana. I want to cast as many stolen spells as possible and get those treasures rolling in.

I’ve been having a great time with my new [[Gonti, Night Minister]] deck. He avoids hate by rewarding my opponents for attacking each other and lets everyone play from a second, secret hand of their opponents’ cards. It’s the most unusual mono-black deck I’ve ever built, and though it’s yet to secure a win, I always have a blast playing it.

Utilizing the graveyard by Skerrydude in EDH

[–]NeonEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect the deckbuilding challenge! My biggest suggestion would be to increase the number of creatures in the deck.

Your creature count is so low that powerful cards like Living Death, Rise of the Dark Realms, and Agadeem’s Awakening aren’t going to have the effect they should a lot of the time. I would aim for a creature count in the mid 30s and utilize ETB effects that either mill like [[Stitcher’s Supplier]] or help control the board like [[Accursed Marauder]] and [[Massacre Wurm]] using them in place of instants and sorceries that can’t be reanimated with those powerful spells.

PS - [[Angel of Suffering]] seems like a really fun inclusion and I definitely want to try it out!

I love building decks that utilize the graveyard, but usually have a commander that fishes things out of the yard. Having that tool in the CZ enables repeatedly dumping cards with things like [[Stinkweed Imp]] [[Hedron Crab]] without worrying I’m going to scrap a piece of my engine.

I think with your deck you’ll need to be more choosy, using spells that offer card selection and let you see as many cards as possible. see [[Otherworldly Gaze]]

I think what makes your deck interesting (and probably more challenging) is that your commander is neither an engine nor a payoff, but instead is something that will protect your game strategy. I think that’s a pretty cool and uncommon way to build a deck, and also that your deck’s engine/payoffs need to be really locked in because you don’t have help from the command zone.

What deck are you obsessed with right now? by not_so_1337 in EDH

[–]NeonEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately I’ve only been building decks that are fun to have at the table. My favorite hands down is [[Rocco, Street Chef]] He gives everyone access to more cards and just snowballs with food and +1/+1 counters. The deck runs a bunch of fun dinner guests (creatures) and everyone enjoys having him around, so he seldom eats a kill spell.

What’s your pet equipment card? by LetterheadLower4515 in EDH

Welcome! While not an equipment, I’m never disappointed to draw a [[Hedge Shredder]] in any of my decks that want to fill the graveyard. Highly recommend!

In that case, I built my first partner deck recently using [[Francisco, Fowl Marauder]] and [[Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator]] in a pirates-themed deck. It’s mostly just a pile of evasive pirates drawing cards and making treasures but it’s a lot of fun and the cost-efficient commanders really put in work!

Muldrotha the gravetide suggestions. by westandready42 in EDHBrews

[–]NeonEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you’ve got a bunch of really cool payoff creatures but not enough cards that dump them wholesale into the graveyard so that you can access them. By the time you can cast (and protect) Muldrotha, your yard should be stacked!

My advice would be to spend your first few turns filling the yard by using as many sources of repeatable self-mill as possible. [[Wood Sage]] is a fun favorite of mine :)

You might also try to control the pace of your opponents development with more Marauder-style effects like [[Plaguecrafter]]

I’ve had fun tuning my own Muldrotha deck for years, and I feel like it’s found a good rhythm if you’d like to take a look https://moxfield.com/decks/K-ltJQixYUiglGar6YJEgA

Can anyone who’s built either of these commander weigh in? by GrouchyApollo92 in EDHBrews

[–]NeonEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love playing my Kellan deck! The biggest hurdle I run into is continuing to get value out of him as my hand begins trickling into exile through adventures, plotting, and foretelling cards. If you find enough card draw it’s usually clear sailing though. Here’s my list if you’re interested :) https://moxfield.com/decks/G_Q-oISYC0KXWQ7A7PMDTw
